The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After the first few moments of the song, Gemma had the distinct feeling that she was intruding on something very private. The girl placed perfectly, with astonishing talent, especially for her age... but also with emotion, taking her beyond performance as she closed her eyes and moved with the music. It would have been breathtaking to witness... even without a display of her powers. As petals and leaves swirled in the air, they seemed to dance along with the music, and Gemma felt his all heart follow, watching the girl lost in her own world, a perfect cocoon of music and movement. She could see the tears on her cheeks too, and her own eyes got misty from the sadness pouring out of Martha's being.
Once the song ended, Gemma did not want to break the silence first. She waited for Martha to come out of her trance.
Martha took a deep breath... She wasn't finished. That was just a little tiny bit of what she had in her. Her eyes opened, and she started playing the theme from Phantom of the Opera, one of her very favorites. And then she began to sing the words, focusing on the heaviest things she knew she could lift with her mind as she sang with her husky, rocker typed voice. It was a planter... It looked to be a good, weighty one, filled with dirt and plants alike. There was an intensity about it, something enthralling, like perhaps she focused all of her hurts and angers into her music and into the telekinesis. It took a few minutes, and it hurt her head, but the planter lifted a good ten feet off the ground, then moved toward another spot to gently be set back on the ground by the end of the song. And then, she was through...
The silence yawned for a few moments... Martha lowered the fiddle, a little tiny bit of blood trickling from her nose as it seemed to do when she pushed a little too hard. She lifted her hand and wiped the trickle away. "Ain't much to look at," she said, "But that's it."

The second presentation was just as enthralling as the first. Martha had a beautiful voice, with depth and volume to it, and she could play and sing at the same time like she had been born to do it. She was. Gemma watched as the planter rose into the air and then landed, just as the song was ending. She had seen a lot of things in her life, but not many moments like this.
>>"Ain't much to look at. But that's it."
"That was... incredible." Gemma said honestly, then tilted her head as Martha wiped her nose "Does that... happen often, when you use your powers?"
"Afriad so," she said as she continued to wipe at her nose. "It'll be okay." She started to put the fiddle in the case and then tilted her head... "You like what I just did, really?" Martha was curious... She knew there were people who liked it, but she wasn't sure how many because she wasn't used to the attention. The one thing she worried about was using her powers to do bad things, or being used to do bad things by other people. She doubted Gemma would do such a thing, nor the people of the Mansion.
She wiped at her face with the back of her hand after she finished putting the fiddle away. "I don't know how to control it as well as I could. I didn't get to practice much in the community."

The music and the powers took a lot out of Martha - not just emotionally, but apparently also physically. Gemma handed her some paper towels to clean her nose, wondering if this kind of thing happened to her often.
>>"Afriad so. It'll be okay."
She looked okay for the moment, but Gemma decided to keep a close eye on her.
>>"You like what I just did, really?"
"Yes, very much" Gemma smiled "You have a very rare talent. And I don't mean your mutation, although that is rare too."
>>"I don't know how to control it as well as I could. I didn't get to practice much in the community."
"We can help with that." Gemma had said it before, but she hoped it would eventually get through to her "You'll have plenty of opportunity to practice. But for now... I think the pizza is ready. Do you want to come back inside?"
