The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mercury had always had financial privilege, and if he went hungry it was always because just forgotten about the time or something. He knew full well, though, that his experience wasn't universal - thus all the charity work. And buying not-super-social street musicians food! Because it was the right thing to do. And no, he wasn't involving his agent as an extension of mere charity. That was because of her skill and dedication, traits only heightened by the clear commitment to what living conditions she could access. If Mercury had his own car and spent a fraction of the time in it that she likely did, it would probably be incredibly messy. She really had a consistent work ethic - something many people getting into a musical profession needed to build.
"You've certainly done well with what you have," he said honestly as she put away her instrument and blanket. "And for food? No dress code at all! If anyone wants to meet with you today, they'll be more concerned with you than your clothes too. If you want to change, that's your choice, but how about we handle food first?" Actually... "Do you want to bring your car closer, or just walk? I can cover parking either way." Didn't all the metres around the city at least have the phone pay thing now?
"I wanna drive. All my stuff is in there, I don't like the thought of just leavin' it anywhere makes me nervous, you know?" She said as she finished putting the stuff away. She got into the driver's seat and spent the next several minutes trying to start the damn car, only to have it putter... And then it loudly came to life. RAWR, went the engine, only to die moments later. It didn't phase her, however, she seemed to be used to it. Finally, it came back to life and she gestured for him to get in on the passenger side, saying loudly over the noise, "Come on, gotta get this beast goin before it dies again."
She hit the gas a few times to keep the engine going, making sure not to flood. It knocked a few times, but then it seemed to get fine again after that. Assuming he got in the car, she headed off. "Which way?"
Also a mechanic! Maybe not immediately, though, since she did get the engine going. And Mercury didn't know much about cars. Maybe this one was supposed to sound like that. It probably wasn't supposed to sound like an Audi.
Or even a Subaru.
The performer swung himself onto the passenger seat, and briefly wondered if the sweat from his run was contaminating the carefully maintained interior. "That way, to start." He pointed with one hand while fishing out his phone again. Maps, maps, there. A quick search, and a helpful little balloon popped up on the green and grey and white and yellow map. "And then a left at the next intersection."
She nodded. The car gave a shudder of protest as she put it into the correct gear. Nope, it was an old, stick shift from the seventies and it still ran somehow. She knew she needed to give the car up, but it had been the right price. She knew it was a hoopty from the start. She drove them through the streets, following the gps he had up.
Martha wasn't very talkative while she was driving, she had kind of a depressed and tired look on her face. Of course, it was hard to be happy when one felt like they didn't belong. I mean, she couldn't even handle being inside the Mansion to live, and they were willing to help her out with a camper or something... But it was hard to accept all that.
