The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

This was… not the position Impact expected to find herself in. Once upon a time, things seemed to be going so well, but now she was underneath her opponent, forced to use herself as a human binding to keep him from escaping. She was better than this! She was certain this was not a situation she would put herself in.
And yet, there she was. She could feel him trying to escape, but she had her feet crossed behind his back, and had no intention of letting go. His confidence was returning, and with it, that laugh and that damn grin.
"You get attached very easily, don't ya? So... what's the plan now? We wait for security to show? We negotiate?..."
Oh, he was just asking to be laser blasted in the face. Rebecca was going to be careful to avoid his eyes, temples, or any other easily damaged spot because she was “a hero,” and she was not supposed to inflict “irreparable damage.” She looked at him defiantly, ready to fire.
”…Do we kiss?”
It was another quick, unavoidable reaction. Rebecca’s eyes looked down at his lips, though not as deliberately as her thief—THE thief. They were close enough that she could feel the warmth of his breath mingling with her own.
Her eyes rolled back up, hoping to look far away from those lips. She fired off a beam, ready to end her awkward situation, but nerves got the best of her and she fired over his short brown hair. The beam cut straight up through the air before it hit the ceiling, dislodging a chunk of heavy chunk of plaster that fell down toward them.
”****!” It was all she could say before releasing her leg lock and pushing the man off of her so she could roll away just before the plaster hit the ground.
Impact scrambled to her feet, looking to see where her recently escaped prey was now.
For a moment, her eyes flickered, and Jesse thought he might have had her with the flirting. He did choose most of his faces to be attractive, so it was not much of a surprise that someone would find herself distracted...
... but just has he thought she would melt, she looked up, and there was a flash of green that blinded him. For a moment, Jesse was sure she had just blasted him in the face with her laser eyes, point-blank, and he braced himself for the pain to come.
It didn't. Blinking, he shook his head, and then heard the crackling sound from above a moment before he was kicked off. He rolled one way, and the girl rolled the other, and a large chunk of plaster ceiling landed between the two of them. Jesse scrambled to his feet, shaking dust from his dark hair, bewildered. Did she just... miss?!
"What the hell?" Jesse blinked, sneezing from the plaster dust as he stared at her. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that this was his chance to get away, since now he had some cases behind his back he could run to. He was just... too stunned, for a second.

What the hell, indeed. For a moment, they were both still getting their bearing. The thief was processing how he was nearly beheaded, and Impact was frazzled and she was in denial over why that might be. After recollecting, she was the first to lay eyes on the other.
Rebecca was feeling decidedly less playful as she looked at the man who had the nerve to get under her skin. This was why she kept such a serious demeanor. Playful was reckless, and it got people hurt. It kept her too distracted to be there for her team when the base fell, and now it was going to let some smarmy criminal escape her.
Hoping she had the better reaction time of the two, Impact let loose another beam, slightly stronger than her last effort. At a glance, he put the pouch of jewels away somewhere, and if she could not target them, hitting the thief himself was the best choice. Her sights were set on his upper body, and if she made contact, it would have felt like a powerful kick to the chest. If he moved to avoid the blast, it would decimate the glass directly behind him. Either way, it seemed like her best move.
For a moment, both of them were stunned and confused by the sudden turn of events. Jesse was not sure if he had finally gone so far, with the pinning-her-down and talking-about-kissing thing. Sure, it was not exactly a polite situation, but he had not been serious about it... he was a thief, but not a creep. And yet, Impact was done with the banter and the dancing around each other.
The shot she fired off hit Jesse square in the chest, knocking him back several feet. He managed to stumble to a stop before he smashed into the case behind him, gasping for air and wincing at the burning feeling in his chest. Good news: Her laser beam or whatever it was did not go clear through him. Bad news: It sill hurt.
Time to go.
"Fair enough" he coughed, putting one hand onto the glass case, and merging into his own reflection "I'm sure I'll see you around..."
He would have loved to have a better exit line. But also, he wanted to get out before the glass got shattered on him. This woman was dangerous.
