The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The prawn bobbed her head slowly. It was fulfilling. Kids were honestly among the best kind of people, as a group-- they had not yet learned prejudice against visible mutants, for the most part, and thus often regarded Jack with an innocent fascination. To them, the more colors the better. It wasn't until after adolescence that people found a place on the spectrum of pro- to anti-mutant. At that point, people became more individualistic. Old folks seemed to pose the greatest challenge, and they seemed to harbor the most latent biases.
>> "Do have to warn you upfront, Sarah is dangerously curious and hasn't really learnt a filter yet. Our first meeting was spent with her constantly mentioning how strange my voice is, that and how pretty Devon is."
Jack shrugged.
"Dat's why I like kids," Jack said dismissively, "Dere's no two ways about what dey sink uzz you. Dere's no sil-ter dere. You know?" Better than the sorts of people who wore hollow smiles and contemplated your demise behind clenched teeth. Jack would take the relentless questions of a child over dealing with a passive-aggressive mutant-hater any day.
"How old is she?" the prawn inquired conversationally, "Do you know what her nyu-tation is?"

OK, that was a pretty cool attitude to have and he probably should have expected her to be pretty relaxed about curious children, she probably wouldn't work there if it did bother her. She also had a fair point, it was kind of awesome how up front and honest they were. "She's ten years old now, so right in that sweet spot of innocence and curiosity."
Sarah's mutation? "Well, I'm not actually sure to be honest, at the moment all we can gather is she has pale blue skin." It wasn't exactly the most unusual case for someones mutation to emerge slowly, or for a person to be completely unaware of how their power worked. "Other than that she has shown any other powers but it's not like we're going to put a kid through any kind of testing to find out. As long as she's happy," shrugging he didn't really need to finish. Most peoples powers really kicked in under stress and that was not something you subjected a child to.
"So for the time being she's just a bonnie blue lass," he smiled warmly as he said it, he might grumble about her but she genuinely brightened his day whenever he helped her.
>> "She's ten years old now, so right in that sweet spot of innocence and curiosity."
Jack nodded. It was the calm before the storm. Regardless of how lovely the child was, ages twelve to fourteen always seemed to be a time of tribulation. When parents didn’t know anything and no one understood them, et cetera, et cetera. Before that, however—before that they were so much fun.
“’s a good age,” Jack agreed.

“’s a good color,” the predominantly-blue prawn said, the corners of her eyes pinching. She might be a wee bit biased. She also appreciated the comment about “not putting the kid through testing”. It seemed almost unethical. Mutations tended to reveal themselves all in due time.

"Aye blue a pretty good colour, although I can't exactly claim to be unbiased there national colour and all that." Although he suspect she also had somewhat personal reasons to like it, but considering her overall appearance, he could hardly blame her. She was a pretty damn striking shade of the colour and he'd be lying if he said it wasn't a good look.
Considering the people Artair had been hanging out recently, it was pretty relaxing to just chat for once. Not have to deal with fights or drama. Oh the drama.
"Well then since apparently the only source of stress I've had is gone is there anything you want to know?" Seemed like they'd skipped a few steps between greeting and offers of help, maybe they could fill those in with some conversation. Sure he wasn't the most talkative person, but some were worth time, clearly Jack was one of them.
Getting to know someone doing him a favour was just good sense.
The prawn contentedly ground her mandibles, saying little else in regards to coloration. She assumed, by Artair’s comment, that he was from somewhere with a blue flag. That was what she’d guess, anyways. He opened himself up to questions.
The prawn was inclined to excuse herself—and not because she wasn’t enjoying the conversation, but because she really wasn’t sure what to ask him. It was like walking into an interview and, at the end, being faced with the quintessential “Do you have any questions for us?”
Well, no, of course not. You were there to be asked questions, not be the one asking them. The prawn found herself in a similar quandary now.
“What’re you studying nedicine sore?” Jack inquired, “Are you looking to ‘e a doctor?”

That was always the question. “Aye, eventually. At least that’s the plan, I’m hoping to become an emergency surgeon.” With everything thing that had happened to him, there wasn’t really any other option. “With my dad being one and my interactions with such doctors,” shrugging, “just kind of made sense to follow suit.”
Time was running forward, quicker than he’d really expected since he’d started talking to Jack but after checking his phone he nearly swore. He was late in dropping of some supplies for a friend, not to mention the date he’d now also be late for.
“Shame to cut this short, but I’ve got some errands to run and a lovely young lady to meet.” Standing and nodding at Jack, “It’s been a pleasure and cheers for the help, I’ll be sure to be in touch.” Who’d have guessed that stopping for a drink would turn out so profitable?
