The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Practical knowledge I can more than do,” Juliette grinned. It was easy to gain a little bit of practical knowledge when she spent the majority of her time there and used the facilities constantly. There was a level of expertise that only came with time.
>>"You guys seem to have a hell of a good handle on security though. I've been on bases with less."
Juliette furrowed her brow and looked around. ”Hmm… I guess we do. I suppose it’d be dangerous to have a school full of hormonal mutant kids without a little bit of security. Not to mention the fact that human and mutant relations aren’t always in the best state,” she shrugged. ”Plus, most of the X-Men live here.”
In truth, she didn’t spend a whole lot of time dwelling on things like security. They just... weren’t as prevalent to her as other things, like the state of the infirmary. To someone like Henry, though, she could imagine that it would be one of the first things that he looked at. Still, she just sort of assumed that the mansion would have a good security system.
When he whistled, it really came out as a sort of hiss. While his appearance had been somewhat off-putting at first, she was beginning to come around to it. She couldn’t help but think of how useful it would be to have him on the X-team...
She laughed at his comment about giving the students toys and eyed the room. Yes, there were many things in there that probably cost a lot of money, but he hadn’t even seen the basement yet. The danger room was really something else. ”Yeah, I’m not entirely sure where we get our funding, but it never seems to really be an issue.” Really, she wasn’t sure where it came from. She figured that they probably had several rather rich benefactors, but even then, things were expensive, and the school had to be repaired often. Best to not dwell on it for too long.
Juliette raised her eyebrows, almost as if she was pushing the thought from her mind, and then began to walk again. ”Welcome to the kitchen,” she said and gestured to the large space. It was a big kitchen with all of the necessary fixtures. Connected to it was an oversized dining room that was able to seat most of the school. Of course, not everyone ate in there at the same time, but arrangements could be made when there were large gatherings.
”I assume you’ll be wanting to spend some time here?” she commented, thinking back to his profession. If he was going to be cooking a lot there, then she could see herself arriving at the kitchen at more opportune times. It had been a while since they’d had a true cook there.
She spoke as if she had not really considered the notion of security. It made Henry feel only a little paranoid. He had made note of every camera, every security key pad, every entrance and exit he passed. It was a solider's thing. He instinctively made it a point to measure the safety of a location as soon as he arrived. He considered the fact that he might want to work on that, but that was a battle for a different day.
"Maybe I'm just too used to the battlefield. Though you make a solid point. The X-Men probably have a fair share of enemies, being prepared shows you guys know what you are doing." He said scratching his chin with a clawed finger.
-"Yeah, I’m not entirely sure where we get our funding, but it never seems to really be an issue.”
He nodded at that.
"I'm sure there are plenty of interested parties that are willing to back you guys. Some people might act like it isn't true but the X-Men help promote stability, and the mansion offers a solid alternative to a life of crime to murants," He mused before adding dryly," plus if they decide they want to take you down better to have you all in one place."
There was that paranoia again.
She led him to the kitchen and Henry had to force himself to not drop his jaw in amazement. The kitchen was decked out to the nines, and he could see himself making feasts in this kitchen. The set up with the dining room promoted open serving. With all the automated features of the kitchen Henry could probably cook for the whole mansion almost single handedly.
"It's beautifu-." He began before coughing and in a very manly voice saying, "seems acceptable."
She noted his desire to work in the kitchen and Henry gave a shrug.
"I was hired to teach, they didn't put me on cooking duty. But maybe if you asked really nicely I'd consider it." He said with a wink of his reptilian eyes.
>>"I'm sure there are plenty of interested parties that are willing to back you guys. Some people might act like it isn't true but the X-Men help promote stability, and the mansion offers a solid alternative to a life of crime to murants … plus if they decide they want to take you down better to have you all in one place."
”Yeah… uh… maybe don’t say that in front of the kids?” she suggested, scrunching her face up at the notion. There was already a lot of fear that the students at the mansion had to experience, in part born from prejudices and terrible pasts, and in part due to the mansion’s track record with being attacked.
Even Juliette herself was made uneasy by that idea. Not everyone thought like Henry, obviously, but there were certainly people that did. What if they ended up getting the same idea? She tried to push the image down.
They continued on through the mansion until they reached the kitchen, where Juliette explained a little bit about it. She grinned at Henry’s response, which was ultimately what she’d expected, although he tried his best to cover it up.
>>"I was hired to teach, they didn't put me on cooking duty. But maybe if you asked really nicely I'd consider it."
”As a frequent cup-o-noodles eater, consider this me asking politely,” she grinned. The kitchen was pretty amazing. She made her way to the opposite end of the room and leaned against the countertop. ”So, what do you think? Want to stay here for a bit and explore, or should we move on? I can still show you some of the teacher dorms or the classrooms.” The danger room would have to wait until when/if he decided to be an X-Man.
