The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Khzar
It was always a good feeling when she started exercising, loosening up her muscles and really feeling alive. The feeling was nearly as good as losing herself whenever she got to play the violin, letting the music control her movement while she just, played. That was why she'd taken to the knife, it just felt right in her hand. Like it was just an extension of her body. Certainly made it awkward that she tended to prefer not hurt people if she could help it and knives weren't exactly a non lethal option.
Poor David always seemed to get it whenever she practiced, he was already on his last legs and a couple of really viscous strikes sent it teetering a little longer than it really should have. Just about ready to strike again, she stepped just a touch too far forward and was rewarded with a grumpy ninja correcting her form. Could someone attach a bell to the women or something? She needed it more than Bijou. She was right though, she'd gotten sloppy with the strikes. Nodding, while keeping her focus on the dummy she shifted to follow Combatant's instructions.
"Just tell me where I'm going wrong, I'll try to correct it." The shift from casual conversation to teacher and student was a pretty easy shift for her. She was used to deferring to someone more knowledgeable and trusting their training. There was no way she'd be where she was if she stubbornly refused help.
Continuing through the forms, correcting every time her trainer made a comment or tapped the offending body part, she lost herself in the patterns. It was easy to lose track of time like that and she only registered it when her body was started to protest any more movements. Much more and she would be useless for the rest of the night, and tomorrow for that matter.
Waving off her companion and stepping away from David she lowered her practice weapons and take some deep, glorious breaths. "I think that's me for the day. Anymore and I'll fall asleep mid session at work." As hilarious as that might be, it might not come across well for the band. They'd worked hard to a reputation for reliability and professionalism, she was not going to jeopardise that just to impress someone. It had taken them a long time to get the point that they were making an actual living.
Replacing the equipment she had gotten out, and putting David back to sleep in the corner, she started to towel herself off after that work out. Damn, she'd either have to swing back to her flat for a shower or brave the ones they had here. Urgh, half the time they didn't have hot water left and with the lock broken it never felt entirely private. "Do you know if Geo's in right now? Considering taking a shower and I'd rather not have him walk in on me." The others she didn't mind so much. Doc was a sweet heart and was very careful when entering a room and the only other permanent resident was already in the same room as her.
Agnes had essentially set herself up to be the combat instructor. She wanted to make sure that her teammates could not only take care of themselves while out on the field, but she wanted to ensure that they were all safe but that they could also either watch her back or at least ensure that she wouldn’t have to be watching theirs. A good team needed to function like a well-oiled machine and that meant making sure that every little cog and piece knew what it was doing so that they could all function as one. Maybe that was a big of a cold-hearted view on the whole matter, but for Agnes functioned in a state of logic. Logic was what kept you alive, after all.
Watching the few minor mistakes that Cait was making as she practiced, Agnes picked up her shinai and wandered over to her teammate. Her footfalls must have been too silent for her to truly notice because when Agnes spoke and jabbed her with the bamboo sword, the woman actually flinched. Agnes merely tilted her head before she went on, correctly Cait’s stance and posture, until it was exactly the manner that it was supposed to be. Though most would have been annoyed (especially Rebecca) Cait seemed to understand that it was for her own safety.
>> "Just tell me where I'm going wrong, I'll try to correct it."
She nodded. She liked it when her students actually listened to her.
The training went on and Agnes did exactly as Cait asked. Whenever she missed a step or overshot, Agnes promptly prodded her leg or posture back into the correct position. It actually wasn’t as bad as she had initially thought. For as happy and go lucky as Cait was, she was more than willing to listen to reason. She knew how to fight, it was just her perchance for hugging that made it seem somewhat impossible. In the end, Agnes felt confident in the redhead’s abilities and stepped back once she had indicated she was done.
>> "I think that's me for the day. Anymore and I'll fall asleep mid-session at work."
She nodded her head. Placing her shintai on her shoulder she turned and walked away. ”Ok.” That was all she said at first. But before she set the sword down, she spoke over her shoulder to the woman. ”And good job.”
She needed to get out of hugging range before she said that. It was like light a very, very short fuse on a stick of dynamite that hugged instead of exploded. With a safe distance between them, Agnes was assured that her compliment wouldn’t drive the redhead to cross the room to hug her. It would give her a moment to realize that that may not be the best of ideas. Returning to her own workout buddy, Agnes rolled her neck as the redhead inquired of anyone else was in the base.
>> "Do you know if Geo's in right now? Considering taking a shower and I'd rather not have him walk in on me."
She shook her head. ”I haven’t seen him.” She turned her eyes onto her punching bag. ”And if he were, just punch him. That’ll get your point across.” It was sound advice.
