The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"And an art teacher. No wonder you guys get along."
Sarah did the mature thing and stuck her tongue out. Then she laughed at their silliness. It was good to be comfortable enough to be silly with Juliette. Made the artist recognize her as a true friend, even if they hadn't known each other years and years.
>>"Hmm. Sam has a dog and a cat? What else do you want to know?"
"Well, you said he proposed? I thought you guys met less than a year ago. I mean, no judging, but how are you feeling about that?" Sarah wasn't trying to poke holes in her friend's relationship, but she wanted to make sure Juliette was okay with everything going on. "Don't get me wrong, Sam seemed real nice when I met him, but technically you two can be considered living together, right? Separate rooms, yeah. But not a whole lot of space." Was she being too picky? Sarah knew her friend only a little longer than Sam, if she counted right. Juliette was still probably her best friend at this point.
Juliette paused for a moment to consider her friend’s question, taking a sip of water to extend it. Her relationship with Sam was definitely the fastest-moving one that she’d ever had, and it was a strange feeling. Before she’d settled down for college, she’d never been in any place long enough to stay with anyone for more than a few months. She’d had longer relationships in college, but never to the same level.
She’d been caught off guard the first time he’d talked about marriage, but she’d figured it was a joke. The second time definitely had been a joke, but it was still a strange thing to say that early on. On top of the fact that things were moving fast, they were also basically living together. It had gotten to the point where she woke up next to him more often than she woke up alone, and her things were mostly found in a state of limbo between the two rooms.
So how did she feel about it all? Juliette glanced back at Sarah and sighed. She had mixed feelings. “I guess… I don’t know… It was weird at first. A little bit terrifying. But… For the most part, I’ve been on my own since my mom died, and it’s nice to have someone again. And I like him.” She shrugged. Maybe they were moving too fast, but that was something they could figure out later. It felt okay then.
“I see what you mean, though. Things went fast, and they got intense quickly. That was partly because of my own decisions, though. Not all of it was because of the relationship. He’s got a great room, though. Way better than mine,” she winked after the last statement, trying to infuse a little bit of the light-hearted nature from earlier back into the conversation.
Sarah laughed at her friends insinuation. "Well, so long as his room is nice," she winked back. "But seriously, so long as you're okay with everything, that's great! I just wanted to make sure you were good."
"How are you ladies doing over here?" their waiter, John Sarah thought his name was, asked. He was also holding a jug of ice water.
"I think we're good for right now. Still working on our meals," Sarah offered. Having worked as a waitress, she got the whole 'more tables means more money' mentality, but the place really was dead. Or maybe he was wanting to make sure he was seen as 'attentive.' Or hell, he could've been bored.
"We're alright, thanks," Juliette nodded along with Sarah. Most waiters stopped by the tables a few times while patrons were there, but definitely not as many times John had. He was probably just bored, though, Juliette realized. There wasn't a whole lot going on in the restaurant, and as someone who had worked as a hostess in high school, she knew how boring shifts could get.
John smiled, nodded, and left them alone again. Juliette watched him go and picked at the last bit of her lunch. It was good, but the conversation was even better.
"I'm good. Don't worry about me. Big girl, remember?" She winked at Sarah. "But anyway, sorry about missing your art show. Do you have any pictures?"
Sarah rolled her eyes at her friend. "I know. Big girl panties and everything. Don't worry about missing the show. I technically missed most of it myself." Pulling out her phone, she pulled up the gallery's website. "I didn't get any myself, but the gallery has a thing about taking pictures." Handing over the phone, she started explaining the basics of the gallery sales and the few commissions she got from the show.
