The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The warm glow of the Firefly wasn’t merely an affectation. She was warm. The snow melted around and through her. Sneaky indeed. Her ability to switch back and forth would only get better with practice. But hey, in the meantime snowballs were fun!
She hid and he ducked back too but when she jumped out, Devon was ready. More snowballs went sailing her way as hers knocked him in the chest and face. He laughed as he tumbled back and she urged him to bleach his hair.
“Oh I’ll grab it out nice and proper. That’s in anyway! But you, you have to dress up as the Tooth Fairy! Maybe we can get some others for the Rise of the Guardians,” Devon suggested. “Though I will still play snowy pranks. I’ll have to work on my ice.” He rolled back up and over, rising to his feet as he drifted a hand through the snow. It slowed to mere flurries.
“Probably should let up, plus those icicles are going to get dangerous,” Tempest pointed up to the whole in the ceiling where the conflicting air temperatures made for dripping water and now large, long icicles as they dropped down into the cold air of his power. “Winter will be here before we know it though and then it’s payback!”
Juliette's ambushed had been matched in full. She laughed at the scene as she was forced backwards into a pile of snow. God, it was freezing. It was not a good idea to get into a snowball fight without a coat, she decided.
She shivered as she stood up, her clothes sufficiently soaked. "Yeah, you're right. Letting up doesn't sound like such a bad idea," she stifled another which was quickly replaced by a sneeze and a sniffle. "Any chance you could make it a little warmer in here? Or sunnier?"
"And I'm only dressing up as the tooth fairy if Lisa's something too. I'm dying to see her out of business wear." She had never seen the woman in anything else, and she was sort of curious as to what would happen if she shed that part of her personality. Would she still be that unbelievably effective?
Juliette walked over to him, deciding that it was safe now that the game was finished, and glanced up at the icicles he had been referring to and raised her eyebrows. It had gotten very cold, very fast. It was really incredible what he could do. In many ways, it was very similar to Sam's powers, plus lightning, rain, and all that other good stuff. Basically, Devon was not a good person to cross.
"That's what you think," she grinned at his 'payback' comment, "but we've got to make it a little harder for you, so the next snowball fight will take place on ice, and you've never seen my skating skills."
Tempest nodded and grinned as Juliette got up, dusting herself off and laughing. She shivered and he grimaced. >> "Any chance you could make it a little warmer in her? Or sunnier?"
“Sunnier? No, but warmer yes,” he nodded as he gazed about the warehouse, head rolling from one side of his shoulders to the other slowly. The breeze died and prevailing conditions crept into the abandoned practice lair. While Tempest could change things in a couple minutes, when it warm outside already it was certainly easier to return there.
Devon laughed at the comment about Lisa as Firefly headed over. He flung an arm and hand out, sending a gust against the fragile icicles that broke and shot dangerously against the opposite wall in a smash of ice crystals. No falling on anyone by chance now. Fog swept up from the floor as the warm air collided with the snow. The bottom floor was lost in the byproduct of the weather warlock’s witchcraft.
“We’ll make Lisa the Boogeyman. Something tells me she won’t mind being the creepy one,” he chuckled. “And yeah, on ice we can do. I’m not the best skater and could use some practice,” his grin warmed to a friendly smile as much as the air had warmed to the later summer evening. Water dripped from the ceiling, coating the building as if there’d been a sudden downpour. A few small spots of snow were quickly melting while the pile down below continued to generate a sizable mist.
“Let’s head back to the subway?” Tempest asked but then quickly shouted, “Meet you outside!” He jumped forward and a gust rocketed him up through the ceiling, his arms tucked closely to the side even if he was leaning a bit as the wind lifted but more likely tossed him out.
The snow vanished just as quickly as it had appeared. Mutations really were quite amazing. “Thanks,” Juliette sighed in relief. Her shivering ceased, and she could stand still again with her arms at her side. The concrete floors were flooded with the still cold water, which sloshed against her feet, soaking into her thin shoes.
The water was then quickly replaced by steam and shattered ice. The whole scene was a little bit like watching spring in some sort of fast motion replay. It was a shame that there was only the two of them there to see it.
“Skating it is. Maybe we could even do Rise of the Guardians on ice. Oh! We could make it a musical!” Juliette laughed at her own comment, trying to imagine a skating, singing Lisa in costume. No matter how hard she tried to picture it, she simply wasn’t able to do it. She would have to see to believe her own suggestion.
She was delayed for just as second as she watched her companion shoot up in the air. There was no way that she was going to let him get much of a head start. She changed forms and took off after him, trying to manage a speed similar to his. She couldn’t go quite as fast, but she did have a shortcut.
The subway entrance was just a block or two away, but there was a crowded, long set of stairs to get in. A set of stairs that would slow down any humanoid. Any humanoid less powerful than Tempest, of course, but she had to take her chances. Juliette broke apart into her Firefly form and used her small, spread out size to weave between the passersby, who looked at her confusedly and swatted at the little balls of light.
Within a few moments, she had reached the subway train. She glanced around for Devon, trying to determine if her idea was at all successful.
>> “Skating it is. Maybe we could even do Rise of the Guardians on ice. Oh! We could make it a musical!”
Devon laughed loudly at the idea. It wasn’t all that impossible with the right involvement. Might be something good for the kids at Sanctuary. Alas, he was no singer and he’d really have to work on the skating. The image of Lisa in costume… He laughed all the more.
Out he flew and while he’d thought she’d join him outside, apparently Firefly was making for a farther goal. She zipped out and kept going! “Hey!” Tempest shouted, but she was already gone. He ran, the wind at his feet pushing him along though it didn’t add much for speed. Once at the stairs of the subway he did coast down but she was a myriad stars in the darkness of the ill-lit subway.
Huffing and puffing, Devon laughed as he breezed down the final set of stairs and ran up to Juliette, “Well… That was more race… Than I’d intended.” He laughed, “You win! Geez, I need to… get more cardio in. Guess I should start running…” He winked at someone waiting a few areas down and gave a little hand wave.
They glared down at Devon and Juliette before turning sharply away.
Devon turned back to Juliette and grimaced, chuckling.
"Sorry," Juliette grinned. She was hardly winded from going that distance. She was far more used to going a mile or two when running. "I get competitive when I race. Years of cross-country have done that to me, I suppose." Normally, she just ran alone, but as soon as other people were added into the mix, she gave it her all.
"If you want a running partner, I'm always up for people to go with. It keeps me from getting complacent," she chuckled lightly.
She couldn't help but narrow her eyes at the person who glared at the two of them as they passed. Sure, they were causing a bit of a ruckus, but they weren't harming anyone. There was no reason for the look that they were giving them. She didn't do anything else in response, though, instead she looked back to Tempest and returned his grimace.
"Back to the Sanc, or somewhere else?" Juliette asked, nodding toward the quickly approaching subway.
>> "I get competitive when I race. Years of cross-country have done that to me, I suppose."
Devon laughed again, “It’s okay. It shows.” He nodded with a wide grin while taking a few deep inhalations to steady his breathing. Didn’t want to get winded and cause a few errant gusts or something.
>> "If you want a running partner, I'm always up for people to go with. It keeps me from getting complacent,"
“Yeah, totally. Honestly I’ve been thinking about it anyway. Ambrose Jaager of all people got me thinking about hitting the gym more frequently but cardio’s just as important,” he nodded, his tone casual despite the name drop. “Maybe we can hit the park a few days a week when our schedules align.”
>> "Back to the Sanc, or somewhere else?"
He shrugged at the returned grimace, his smile returning. “I definitely should get back, finish up some paperwork before I head home. I’m happy to have the company but don’t let me keep you.”
"Ambrose Jaager? When did you meet him?" Juliette asked curiously. She didn't know too much about him, but she did know that he was a wealthy business tycoon that ran Jaager Worldwide. He wasn't exactly the kind of person that she would have expected Devon to be hanging around with, especially not if he was making small talk about running.
Juliette checked her phone for the time and paused for a minute. She did have a shift, but... Eh, she could swing it. "Sure, I'll join you back there. I'm sure that there's something I can do around there, anyway. I don't think I've ever walked in there when someone wasn't injured."
There was a sound of the train on the track quickly approaching, followed by the subway car which came into site. Juliette stepped on when it stopped and took a seat inside.
“Not too long ago. He came when I set up a Utopia presentation at Sanctuary. Apparently he wanted to be sure I wasn’t Order and they weren’t taking control of Sanctuary again,” Devon blew out a long breath. “Seems like everyone wanted to check in on that.”
Devon shrugged a shoulder, “All those bodyguards, made me feel like I needed to do some weightlifting.” He chuckled, though there was a faint color that rose in his cheeks just as the subway arrived. Juliette was checking her phone.
>> "Sure, I'll join you back there. I'm sure that there's something I can do around there, anyway. I don't think I've ever walked in there when someone wasn't injured."
“Great. With the block party we’ve got planned, it’d be good to be sure the infirmary is up to date and we’ve got all the legal forms secured. I can talk more logistics with you,” Devon smiled. “And thanks again for the bit of training. Don’t get enough fun lately til it’s back to work.”
With that, he took a seat and began breaking down the set up for the block party. It was going to be a busy season.
