The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lie on the ground? Like he was giving up and trying to die? If Adder's ears could have flattened against the sides of his head anymore, they definitely would have. It might be better for him to be annoyed and offended than stressed and in pain, but right now he was just all four and NO he didn't want to lie on the ground for her!
He also wasn't sulking when he dropped his t-shirt and tried to pull his vest back onto his shoulders without reaching up so much that it tugged on his ribs. It was significantly harder than he'd planned.
"I'll be fine," he muttered around the slime and blisters. "I won't even starve while I heal this time-" he hadn't meant to go into that much detail. He bit off his words, narrowly avoiding biting his own lip in the process, and pretended it was intentional and that he totally wasn't having trouble getting his vest on.
Well fine. He set his teeth and used the pressure of his flexed jaw muscles against the blisters in his mouth to offset the thuddy-stretchy-stiff pain of pulling on bruises while he just reached up and fixed his vest.
Now he just had to go back to the mansion... without falling over.
He suspected it was going to be harder than replacing his clothing.
She was finished sticking her neck out for the ungrateful teen. He obviously didn't want any help and he hadn't even thanked her for saving his life. In fact, she had been greeted with anger and fear.
She stood up, watching him hobbled away and turned around. "That's fine by me, but have fun when a bone fragment punctures your lung." She said to him bitterly.
Some small part of her wanted him to turn back, but the rest of her almost wanted him to keep walking. Then, at least she wouldn't have to deal with him.
The words she said he understood, but assembled they went over Adder's head as unreachable as a bird flying over water. Well, he wasn't completely sure about 'punctures' but that didn't really change the situation. Really, she was just talking at him and not to him anyway. He'd heard that tone before.
He kept the side of his less-burnt lip pressed against the curve of his teeth so he could keep walking, and did his best to keep walking.
Juliette's shoulders slumped as she watched Adder walk away. Her tone had likely been a little harsh with him. She could only hope that he wouldn't just ignore his injuries and look into some form of treatment at wherever he was staying.
She gathered up her bag and threw in the little bottle of aloe. Her hand instictively rose to her cheek where the other mutant had struck her, having forgotten about her own injuries in favour of the teen's. It would probably heal quickly, likely even without stiches, but it still stung.
She made a mental note to not get involved in any more street fights if she could help it.
