The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>so what does xavier's REALLY think about the META bots? >>yeah, did the police really debrief you like they said they would? did you have any forewarning at all?
Now there was an interesting question. Gemma was far from being completely happy about the new police bots - no robot, in her mind, could ever have the judgment a person was capable of - but so far they had proven to be effective.
"Yes, we have been briefed" she nodded "And I personally hope that they will cut down on the dangerous situations human and mutant officers need to be placed in."
Also, hoping they would not glitch.
>>anyone else going to point out that the x's were doing the vigilante thing long before they were doing the police deputy thing? anyone? that always gets suspiciously glossed over
"Many members of the X-team started out as vigilantes on their own" she nodded; that was commonly known, nothing to do about it "they joined up with the team, went through the training, and they now use their gifts to help police work. Not everyone starts out perfect and knowing everything, people."
Except for the Internet, obviously.
>>Please respond to allegations that you have "totally got a dungeon for bad mutants."
>>i don't care what she says, this is now my head cannon
"We totally ain't got a dungeon for bad mutants" Gemma raised an eyebrow, stressing the 'totally' "Why would we keep dangerous criminals in the same building where our students live?"
Seriously.
>>On that note: respond to allegations that your basketball court folds back and STEALTH JETS fly out
>>we haven't had new pics of that happening in like two years, did you have a budget cut? because if you need more money for jet fuel just do a kickstarter
"The jet belongs to the X-team, and no, it is not stored under the school grounds."
Okay, so she was tying to mitigate rumors here, not tell the truth.
>>What's your day-to-day like? How does it compare to previous (non-mutant-focused) places you've worked at?
"I do a whole lot of paperwork" Gemma said, truthfully "I meet with students that need counseling, either for personal reasons, or for their school careers. Also, I like to cook."
She smiled a little, and then leaned over to pat Jiri on the shoulder.

lieesssssssssss
lies and avoidance. 1) we have proof the jet is under xavier's, or at least it was, and 2) the X-men spent yeeeeears as vigilantes before the police started working with them, and you KNOW I'm not talking about individual members, which makes me wonder 3) just what else you're hiding with this wrap up
basement dungeon confirmed, I think
She can't help it, she's The Man. She'd lose her job if she confirmed the basement dungeon.
I'm just liking how 'The Man' is a black woman. There's equality in action, right there.
Jiri was dreaming. It didn't matter if it was a good dream (which it was). It didn't matter what the dream was about (it was a little abstract and hard to put into words? One of those dreams.) What mattered was that simple statement: Jiri was dreaming.
Jiri was not dream-walking, Jiri was dreaming. He hadn't dreamed his own dream, in his own head, since his power manifested. He hadn't slept, period.
He responded to the pat on his shoulder like any teenager would, given the circumstances: he shrugged it off, nestled his face more comfortably against the desk, and muttered something that was a mix of I don't wanna, five more minutes, and mrrrrpppooommrhg.
he LIVES!
yeah but now he's ticked off two teachers, he's totaly getting tossed in the dungeon
that's why she's ending this, she needs to drag him down there while he's still too weak to struggle!
nooooo Invasion, fight The Man! fight her!
Finally, with great reluctance, he blinked open green eyes that were, if anything, even less coherent for their foray into dream land.
"Mfph?" He queried articulately. At which point he noticed the computer. And the person who'd woken him up. And finally, slowly, finally his brain grabbed enough of the pieces for him to put the scene together.
Ms. Taylor. The Mansion Counselor. The AMA. Jiri sat bolt upright in his chair.
"Oh God you kept talking to them. Why did you keep talking to them? Shut up internet, go home."
He closed his computer lid and sat back down, apologetically.
"Sorry. I guess I fell a--"
Wait.
"a--"
He had.
"Asleep. I fell. Asleep. I was sleeping, oh my God, I could kiss you." And that is exactly what the teenager did: he leaned over the desk, and aimed a kiss on the counselor's cheek.
The only thing less coherent than a Jiri would hadn't slept for months? A Jiri who'd just been shaken out of a power nap.

>>"Mfph?"
Jiri refused to wake up. The Internet overreacted. Gemma was not sure at this point if the AMA had made things better or worse. Her theory stood: The Internet was a nasty, nasty place.
"Come on Jiri, you have slept enough."
The boy finally shook himself awake, although it took him a few moments to comprehend the situation. >>"Oh God you kept talking to them. Why did you keep talking to them? Shut up internet, go home."
Gemma blinked.
"What was I supposed to do?!"
>>"Sorry. I guess I fell a-- a-- Asleep. I fell. Asleep. I was sleeping, oh my God, I could kiss you."
And suddenly, Jiri was all happy and friendly, and he pressed a kiss on her cheek. Gemma was very relieved that he had shut the computer down first; this was something the Internet did not need to see. She also blushed a little at the sudden outburst of affection.
"You are welcome, Jiri" she said with a smile "If you ever need a nap, you are free to use the couch here in my office. Just... don't leave me alone with the Internet again. How do you even manage to regularly interact with them?..."

He had kissed her and she was blushing and he was grinning, and he was not nearly awake enough to be embarrassed. Mortification would come hours later. For now? There was only the sudden, unfocused energy of someone startled from a deep sleep.
"They're not so bad. It's just like talking to your subconscious, but with gif images."Having gotten very close to his subconscious in the past few months of sleep deprivation, Jiri could vouch for this. "Seriously. You don't know how much sleeping means to me. I--It's just--" It was completely and utterly beyond his ability to put into words. It was sleep. "Umm. Could I set up, like, a nap time with you? Maybe just an hour a day? Or less, I don't want to take up your schedule, maybe once a week?" No need to get greedy. An hour a week would be... would be... absolutely divine.
Also probably very unhealthy still, but better an hour aweek than an hour never.

>>"They're not so bad. It's just like talking to your subconscious, but with gif images."
"Well, I am sure this subconscious absolutely hates me now." Gemma sighed, rubbing her forehead. She suddenly felt as old as the Internet thought she was.
>>"Seriously. You don't know how much sleeping means to me. I--It's just-- Umm. Could I set up, like, a nap time with you? Maybe just an hour a day? Or less, I don't want to take up your schedule, maybe once a week?"
Nap time. A nap sounded very good right about now.
"Sure" she nodded "I do paperwork every day in the morning, so if you want to come in and take the couch while I do, you can get two or three hours of sleep. It wouldn't bother me at all, if you are all right with me taking the occasional phone call." she smiled at Jiri "I guess having an adapted around is not all around useless, huh."

Two to three hours of sleep every day. Had she read up on his mutation? Did she know how much what she was offering meant to him? Did it include weekends, did she even do paperwork on weekends? He wanted to ask, but he didn't want to seem greedy. And how was he even supposed to get to her office on time? It wasn't like alarm clocks worked on him, his mind wasn't around to hear them. Could he just, like, curl up in her office at night and be on her couch like a creepy unconscious stalker when she came in for the morning--
He needed to stop over thinking this. They'd make it work. And with two to three hours of sleep EVERY DAY in his system, maybe he'd be able to think things through a little better.
