IndividualCharacter's full name: Víctor Calisto Ochoa-Echeverría
Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: Wyrm
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Date of Birth: 7/4/1994
Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Sacramento, California
Nationality: American
Ethnicity/ Cultural Heritage: Latino, Peruvian
AppearanceCharacter Sheet:
LinkHair color and style: Do horns count as hair? If so, three on either side of his head.
Skin Tone: It varies by how much heat he’s absorbed, ashy-grey to a bright yellow-orange.
Eye Color: Black sclera with a white iris
Height: 8’10”
Build: He looks slender but is surprisingly well muscled.
Visible mutation: His whole body has been changed, he doesn’t even really look human any more. His body has become more reptilian, with four powerful arms fit for climbing, same with his legs. A thick tail, longer neck, large teeth, a singular, terrifying eye in the middle of his face. He doesn’t even recognize himself anymore.
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: None
Other features: Pretty sure everything’s been covered, check the character sheet for more.
Everyday clothing style: Usually dresses warm if it’s not already. His family had to modify his clothes to better fit his new form. So long sleeve shirts with mismatched sleeves for the second arms and jeans or sweat-pants modified to allow for his tail.
Uniform: None yet, he needs to find something fire resistant.
Sleepwear: Either sweaters and sweatpants with lot of blankets or if he has the heat lamp on just shorts.
Miscellaneous clothing: Various clothing depending on the weather, he stocked up warm clothes for the winter, so plenty of special jackets, sweaters, and several scarves for his longer than usual neck.
CharacterPersonality: Under normal circumstances he’s rather calm, keeping to himself more than anything. He tries to keep out of the way of others, knowing that his new monstrous form is likely to cause more trouble than it’s worth. But that doesn’t mean he won’t scare folks on purpose if they tried to start trouble for him or his family first. He’s protective of them, especially the kids who have eagerly accepted what he was and have taken to playing dress up with him when they have the chance. There have been too many times when he’s woken up with nail polish on his horns and claws. Honestly with the kids is the most relaxed he’s ever been, they find him exciting rather than terrifying. With people who know exactly how dangerous he can be, well, he’s restrained, quiet, tries his best to appear...domesticated, civilized.
Though it gets hard sometimes. With how people treat him, like he’s unintelligent or like some sort of animal, sometimes he really does want to go on a rampage. It makes him angry to see and hear what they think of him, acting as if he won’t notice. He tries to be good, he really does, but humanity doesn’t make it easy for him.
Hobbies/ Interests: Before his x-gene activated he was pretty into dance. He’s found it hard to do so with the extra limbs and a body that still doesn’t feel like his own. At the moment he’s got nothing else outside of work.
Job or part time job and description: He works with his uncle at the docks, moving cargo from and to ships.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Freezing to death, family abandonment, not being able to keep his job, being jailed for no good reason.
Special talents: He has the patience of a saint when it comes to children, that has to be a talent on it’s own. But then the opposite is true for adults, he will not take shit from anybody.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral: He’s just trying to live normally with his family. He doesn’t care for morality battles, good or bad. Though he could be persuaded either way if it benefits him.
MutationsMutation description: Put simply a monstrous body that allows heat and fire manipulation. So let’s break it down between the new body and the fire.
Body:
Pretty strong, not super strong, but giving his height and frame he has a good deal more power in his body than a normal human. Skin is tough and thick when cold, but become softer and more flexible when hot. Single eye does not allow for great depth perception but is made up for with an excellent sense of hearing. Clawed hands and feet are great for climbing and four arms for grappling. The jaws and teeth are great for tearing and shearing whatever lands in there. Horns are both defensive and offensive because while they can be used to gore someone or something if angled correctly they mostly protect the sensitive heat regulators behind his skull.
Fire:
The heat regulators sense the heat in the air and allow him to guess-timate how much he can pull. He can absorb heat out of the air through pores in his skin, making his body hot to the touch. Enough heat, like that from a fire or an energy beam, can set his clothes ablaze and at extreme temperatures could potentially melt steel. He can also redirect the heat into an internal pocket of flammable gas and launch the flames in about 5 to 6 shots which can be shot up to 20 feet away. Though the intensity and range will shrink if there’s a lack of heat to gather. The heat up and cool down period depends on if he’s focusing or not. He can rapidly suck the heat from the air around him, the friction of which causes a more intense but shorter-lived heat, or gather it over the course of the day or a few days that can last longer and be used in subtler ways.
Strengths: Tough flexible body with six limbs, sharp claws and teeth, horns, fire that can cause a sufficient amount of damage.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Cold limits the range and usefulness of his fire abilities and generally makes him sluggish. The fireballs have a limited shot amount. The heat needs to be released at some point, usually he can only hold it for about two days with temps at about 75 degrees fahrenheit, lower than that he can go longer, higher than that he’ll have to do it every day. Plus in the water he hasn’t really figured out how to use all his limbs successfully, so he sinks like rock these days. His new body has also become totally carnivorous. He can stand some starches like potatoes, rice, and pasta, but veggies will make him sick.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: Strength: Stronger than an average or even some trained humans given his size, Speed: Depends on the temperature but on average fairly quick, Reflexes: Not great, kind of clumsy, Stamina: Again temperature is a factor but better than most average people given his job, Flexibility: Great, even better when hot
Fighting Style: No formal training but he’s been a couple brawls. He’s been finding that since the mutation, he’s felt to bite a lot more.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: If he’s bigger than his opponent he probably stands a chance of winning on strength and powers alone, if the opponent is trained or is bigger than him he’ll have no idea what to do.
History Of Your Character Víctor is the child of an immigrant and a second generation son of immigrants. He’s the oldest of three and he honestly can’t say that his childhood was anything spectacular. It was pretty normal. He lived his whole life in Sacremento, California with the same friends, the same house, the same schools. The only thing that really changed were the siblings he gained as he got older.
He saw his grandparents on his dad’s side every summer in northern California and got to fly to Peru a few times to see his mother’s side of the family. It was good to feel connected to his roots. And it was through these family get togethers that he discovered a love for dancing and music. Every holiday was a party, dancing with extended family, cousins and their friends and families. The 2/4 beat of chicha cumbia became familiar sound. Though, his parents encouraged it, he didn’t take any formal classes in dance.
Everything was fine, normal, all of the events concerning mutants sort of flew past him. It wasn’t his problem after all.
However, when he was sixteen he started to feel sick, really sick. A series of fevers struck him, making his body ache and in some extreme cases made it hard to see straight, and doctors couldn’t seem to figure out why. It was like his immune system was failing, either that or there was something seriously wrong with his hypothalamus.
They even scanned his brain for a tumor but found nothing. Certain foods began to make him nauseous and he began craving meat a lot more. His skin started to feel strange when he would sit in places that were cold. At one point he stole all the extra blankets in the house just so he could feel warm at night.
It all came to a head during a trip to the mall during summer break when another fever struck. It felt like all the heat was stuck in his gut, he just needed to get rid of it. Thankfully the resulting fireball hadn’t hurt anybody but had caused a considerable amount of property damage. That was it, he was front page news. People were calling him a mutant and he didn’t doubt them.
Only two days later did the more extreme changes start to occur and it wasn’t quick. It was slow and painful and he nearly burnt down the house two times. It was terrifying but when complete there was no doubt that he was a monster. He was surprised his family hadn’t tried to chase him out of the house. Then again his mother had stuck by him for nearly the whole thing, she saw every step of the change take hold of her child.
His siblings were completely freaked out and refused to even talk to him. It broke his heart that they would think of him like that.
Afterward it was hard to face his friends. Most left, abandoning him out of fear or disgust. Only two stuck around, mostly out of pity, but some out of excitement that their friend had change into a crazy-cool looking monster. It hurt but at least it was something, better than nothing.
However, even with friends and at least his parents backing him, it was hard to walk around during the day. People ran away from him, he couldn’t go to his usual fast food places because they refused to serve him, he couldn’t even walk in his own neighborhood with someone trying to start shit. He eventually stopped counting the number of times someone through something at him.
This went on well past graduation, which he was thankfully able to do in his high school. The principle seemed weirdly okay with him and encouraged him to stay enrolled so long as he didn’t cause trouble. Which was difficult given that the student body seemed to have it out for him. Post graduation, he had no idea what he was going to do with himself.
His parents saw how much he was struggling, so they worked up a solution with his father’s brother and his family in New York City. It would be difficult, but Víctor would have a job working for his uncle in an area that had more mutants than anywhere else in the country and the colder winters would ensure that at least during some of the year his fire would be safer.
It’s only been two years since he’s moved in with his uncle, aunt, and their children but New York has grown on him. So far he feels rather safe here, things have settled for him. Despite the riot that happened, in which he stuck close to the apartment to protect his family, people didn’t change their minds about him and he didn’t change it for them.

A ship's horn sounded, the massive cargo it lugged renewed for transport elsewhere. Anywhere but here. Víctor watched the ship leave with a smoothness that something that massive should have. Part of him wanted to stay on the ship, find somewhere else to be. Somewhere where he wouldn’t have idiots staring at him all the time.
He glanced over at said idiots, watching them scattered when they noticed he was starting back at him. Let steam slip from his mouth, he wondered if he could get away with setting one of them on fire. It was probably not the best idea he’d have all day. But it was better than let himself be some sort of circus freak around here. It’s been two years didn’t they have something better to stare at.
<”Oye! Thomas, have you seen my uncle?!”> he called to one of the crane drivers as he stepped away from his station for break. <”Sorry, havn’t seen him all day! Check with Mel!”> Victor cursed and waved to Thomas before walking off to find his uncle.
Mel was generally unlikable and a racist jerk at that. The man had it out for him since he got here. If he was with his uncle, then he must be trying to get him fired for the billionth time. He was surprised his uncle hadn’t fired Mel long ago. As far as Víctor was concerned Mel could go die in a fire. Though he didn’t say as much. He didn’t need for that to actually happen and have all the blame fall on him.
Climbing up on to one of the many stacks of metal cargo boxes to see if he could spot his uncle. Thankfully tio Gabriel was near by and indeed Mel was with him. He couldn’t hear what he was saying, but from the way Mel was gesturing rapidly, the man was doing his best to plead his case.
Víctor couldn’t help the snarl that rose in his throat. Why couldn’t the dick mind his own goddamn business.
So a few jumps from one cargo stack to another and he dropped down behind his uncle, startling both the men. Mel grabbed his chest, huffing in exaggerated shock. “Oh and there’s the monster just in time. Holy f*** were you spying on us?!”
“Were you trying to get me fired again, cabrón?”he growled back, showing off his impressive teeth. His uncle put his hand on Víctor’s chest to get him to back off, “Oye, watch your language Víctor. And you, stop complaining about him just existing. Víctor works just as hard as you and every other guy here. Now finishes off your shift and go home.” And with that Gabriel turned away from the two of them, looking down at the clipboard of paperwork he had in hand.
“B-but, but, you can’t let-”
“Go home Mel.” Gabriel cut him off.
Víctor chuckled and followed after his uncle, looking like a massive lumbering body guard next to the stout man. <”So what’s dinner going to be? Tia will be working late.”>
His uncle chuckled as they walked inside the warehouse and up to the office. <”Either we’re getting pizza or your cooking. You know the children don’t trust me in the kitchen.”>
<”Well, you did try to get them to eat ceviche.”>
<"What? It's good food.">
<”Tio, it’s raw fish.”>
<”It’s cooked!”>
<”Lemon acid does not count.”>
<”It’s good!”>
<”Not to them, I liked it but they didn’t. I’ll order the pizza.”>
He waited by the door, carefully texting his cousins with his flip-phone, while his uncle filed some paperwork away. <“Víctor, have you heard about the recent outbreaks of violence against mutants?”>
<“Hard not to these days. It’s all over the news.”>
<“I just want you to promise me you’ll be carefull. A mutant like you-”>
<“A mutant like me can take care of himself.”> Víctor growled, hands tightening around the cheap plastic. If he broke it, it’d be the third one this month. <”I doubt anybody will be dumb enough to mess with me.”>
<“That’s exactly the attitude I’m worried about. Someone gonna see that and think you’re a monster that needs to be put down. You can’t threaten people just because they piss you off.”>
<“And why not?! What they can threaten me and get away with it? I should just roll over and let them do what they want?”>
<“No, I’m just asking you to be careful. Think first. You would break all our hearts if you got yourself killed.”>Gabriel, set the paperwork aside to put a hand on Víctor’s shoulder, or as well as he could reach. <“Please just take care of yourself.”>
Víctor sighed, smiling and nodding, <“I’ll be fine, tio.”> His phone buzzed, interrupting the moment, <”Sophia ordered the pizza, should be there by the time we get home.”> He stuffed the phone back into his pocket.
Gabriel blinked, taken out of the moment by the sudden announcement. <”Oh, good. C’mon, let’s get home then. The paperwork can wait.”> The two of them left the office, Gabriel locking the office door behind him. Down the stairs and toward the parking lot. Thankfully, Gabriel had a truck big enough for him to ride in back. Not technically legal, but perhaps the cops would ignore it.
