The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Janelle laughed, “Are they really coincidences if they’re contrived?” she said, “Sometimes I don’t think that anything that happens here happens by accident.” But honestly, that’s what you got when you lived in a house full of precogs and mind readers.
Apparently cleanliness wasn’t a problem…it was something more power-related. That was something else that Janelle hadn’t thought about. What if she got a roommate, and they had some kind of weird power?
“Your dream state? How does that work?” she asked, a bit apprehensively. Suddenly this whole, ‘wanting a roommate’ thing seemed less than impressive. Maybe there was something to be said about sweet solitude.
As to changing rooms…
“I don’t think the powers that be would appreciate us switching, but you can just imagine the look on his face if I walked in and went about my business as if I were you.”

“Your dream state? How does that work?"
He leaned back in his chair and shrugged his shoulders. "He's a dream walker-slash-body snatcher. But he's not really aware when he does it. So every night in my noodle he goes." That was honestly enough information, she didn't need to know about the house arrest or the fact that he can't leave the mansion until the trial.
He snorted at the idea, imagining the panicked look on Jiri's face. The guy wasn't exactly smooth. He doubted he would be able to handle a girl suddenly just walking into the bed room, acting like nothing was strange about it. "Poor guy would have a heart attack, I think."
"Oohhhhh" Janelle said, thinking that this roommate's power sounded like it was pretty cool. Though, considering the fact that a person didn't have any control over their dreams, she could see how it could be awkward as heck too. "Does he remember them when you guys wake up, or is it kind of like with everyone else where normally you can't remember what you were dreaming?" the redhead had to ask.
"All the more reason to try!" Janelle exclaimed with a conspiratorial smile, "Assuming, of course, that you meant the metaphorical kind of heart attack and not an actual, honest to goodness chest-clutcher. I'd hate to be responsible for all that." she said, taking one last bite of pudding before licking the spoon clean and replacing the lid.
"Seriously though, I'd offer up the extra bunk in my room, but I have a feeling the powers that be would frown upon cross-gender cohabitation."

"Does he remember them when you guys wake up, or is it kind of like with everyone else where normally you can't remember what you were dreaming?"
Alex gave a noncommittal shrug, "Kind of, sometimes it's hard to tell but he'll remember bits and pieces. More if you remind it's real. At least it seems like. Right now he's in that weird stage of powers where he's not completely sure of how it works."
"All the more reason to try! Assuming, of course, that you meant the metaphorical kind of heart attack and not an actual, honest to goodness chest-clutcher. I'd hate to be responsible for all that."
He snicked and nodded, "No, I wouldn't think so. On both accounts. He'd probably just be freaked out and need to do a reality check before asking what's going on." "Seriously though, I'd offer up the extra bunk in my room, but I have a feeling the powers that be would frown upon cross-gender cohabitation."
He shrugged, "Well that's alright. As annoying as the nightly brain raids can sometimes get, he's an alright guy. I like hanging out with him." He would have mentioned the fact that Jiri was probably the closest to a friend, hell a best friend, but even to him it sounded a bit pathetic. "Besides, the guy doesn't put his clothes away. I'm pretty sure you'd prefer a cleaner roommate."
Janelle nodded her head in empathy, powers were funny things. Especially when they were new, powers could be a pain. "Is your roommate younger than you then?" she asked, head tilted slightly to one side. She'd had her powers for a few years now, and from her limited knowledge of other mutants, assumed that all of them got their powers around the same age.
"I've had mine for a few years now, and I can't do anything interesting, so I never had a 'settling in' period to deal with." Still, it would be weird to have someone skipping around in your dreams an unable to remember most of it...especially if you could.
All in all, Alex seemed like a good guy, though, and the roommate issues didn't seem too bad...except for the clothes. Janelle had to laugh at that final comment. "I was willing to deal with the brain raids," she said, unable to even fake solemnity, "But messy clothing habits are where I draw the line. You're on your own kid."

"Is your roommate younger than you then?"
He shook his head, "Nope, not as far as I know. He seems to be my age, just got his powers later I guess. I know most people tend to get their mutation around puberty starts, but perhaps for some they need more time." He wished there was more research out there on why mutation happened in the first place. But he supposed all the bigotry out there made it hard to get funding for such research. Probably made people reluctant to join a study too, after everything that's happened. "I've had mine for a few years now, and I can't do anything interesting, so I never had a 'settling in' period to deal with."
"Same, I was thirteen with it started. Freaked me out a bit, didn't really have anyone to talk to. So I spent a lot of time practicing in private." He picked at the left over food, a little lost in thought. His powers weren't as pretty in the beginning either. Plus, small towns made it hard to find anybody in the same boat as you. Here in New York, you couldn't walk down the street without running into a couple of mutants at least.
"I was willing to deal with the brain raids. But messy clothing habits are where I draw the line. You're on your own kid."
"Heh, fair enough, I wouldn't want to subjugate anyone to that mess."he chuckled. It was a bit of an exaggeration but all in good fun. Plus, maybe if Jiri ran into this girl and found out what she heard, maybe he'd learn the value of picking up after himself.
