“Where to miss?”
Mars told the taxi driver the address, and climbed in. Her mind was abuzz with her conversation with Mirror, and the whole airport fiasco. Yesterday had been weird.
There was nothing more predictable then the douche bag that was her father though, so at least today wouldn't be so weird. Knowing her father, there would be many hugs, an attempt at a conversation, then she'd have time to herself for the next month before he realised she existed again. As she had said before. Douche bag.
The streets started to get more and more familiar, making her sit up a little straighter in anticipation. There was the cafe that did an awesome caramel slice, and there was that old abandoned factory, and there was another abandoned factory-wait hang on a second! Why were they pulling up next to it?
With a sinking feeling, Mars looked around, and found that yes, they were in the right area. Everything was here, everything was the same, except for one thing. Her fathers factory was ruined.
“W-what's this? Th-this can not be the right place!” She accused the taxi driver, her voice shaking as much as she was. The taxi driver looked back at her with pity.
“What were you expecting? That place got shut down during the mutant registration act, I think the guy running the place was a mutie or something.” He explained.
“I... H-he was my father... I-I haven't talked to him for a while...” Mars replied, fighting of tears. The man frowned, and bit his lip.
“You're a, uh, mutant right?” Mars nodded. “Well, there is this one place I've heard of...”
Mars waved goodbye to the taxi driver, then turned to look at where he'd taken her. Golden doors were the most notable feature, as well as the variety of mutants that were walking through them. Some were obviously mutants, like one guy who looked like he was made of rock, while others let their in-humanness show through their powers, like a pyrokinetic who had a ring of fire blazing round them.
She walked into the building, looking somewhat dazed, and went up to the receptionist.
“Uh, hi, I'm Mars... I was told to come here?” She said, feeling like a retard. Wow, she really should of looked up these people before she came.
