The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The other boy's words only served to deepen his frown. If nothing else it proved what Alex said. Carrick thought he was better than other people, seemed to enjoy pissing him off. Well it was working, he was pissed off and that didn't happen often. He could feel the constructs in the back of his mind pushing forward, like a gaggle of children pressing up against glass, waiting for a fight to come. One where they'd get to leave the confines of his brain.
He opened his mouth to retaliate only to be interrupted by the teacher loudly clearing his throat. "As much as everybody has been enjoying your conversation gentlemen, the lecture is about to start and I much rather not talk over you. If you could please remain quiet for the remainder of class."the older man said leaning against the teacher's desk upfront. He looked like he was preparing to break up a fight, a mildly disappointed look marring his face.
Alex's mouth snapped shut and, while he would like to keep trying to put Carrick in his place, he preferred his education more. "Right, sorry sir." He could feel the constructs wilt in disappointment as he shifted back to face the front, hands once more on his paper and pencil. Carrick might think him a sheep for being moved so easily but honestly he didn't really care.
Ah, so there was a teacher here. Carrick cocked an eyebrow towards the teacher who just spoke then shrugged his shoulders. He thought about saying something to the teacher but then realized that they were the center of attention at this moment. His tail twitched. Normally Carrick would have said something to irritate the teacher and Alex in one go but… ”What I’ve been trying to tell him, teach.” Carrick said hearing a annoyed groan from one side of the room and a snicker from somewhere behind him.
The old days he’d have the room in laughter but now. Too much has changed. He folded his arms and leaned forward on the desk facing the front of the room as his tail flicked near Alex. Carrick as usual didn’t give his tail much thought. He was too busy trying to remember the times he actually enjoyed being in the mansion. Now not so much.

Alex rolled his eyes at Carrick words, but he made no move to argue. For now, with the teacher's eyes on them, the conflict was settled. After the class, there was no telling what would happen. If the other boy wanted to pick another fight verbal or otherwise he was ready. Carrick knew nothing about his mutation, it put him at distinct advantage.
Aside from the other boy's tail flicking him on occasion, the class passed with little more commotion. Alex was glad to say he filled out the worksheets and even some of the homework while in class. Didn't even get into another spat with Carrick. Which was an accomplishment in itself.
Still has the class filtered out of the room, he couldn't help but feel tense. Prepared for an on coming fight. He had his hunting knife in his backpack, even though he had been told that it wasn't allowed. It made him feel safe. With that and his mutation, no one could hurt him. That he could be certain of.
Needless to say without the arguing of his stupid lab partner Carrick fell asleep shortly after. It wasn’t like he was going to do the homework at this point anyways or pay attention. So sleep was the next best thing. He didn’t wake until the class was over and people were filing out of the classroom. With a loud yawn Carrick raised his head and waved and smirked to the teacher. ”See you next week.” Only to hear him reply with, “Same time tomorrow you mean.” Carrick pretended he didn’t hear it as he left the room. Rubbing the sleep out of his mismatched colored eyes he yawned again and noticed something kicked his back foot as he was walking.
Before he realized it he was falling forward and managed to land onto someone he almost got into it with during class. Alex. Carrick was about to apologize till he realized who it was. He rolled off of Alex and pushed himself up looking back towards the entrance to the classroom to see another eejit who liked picking on the smaller kids. Honestly another growth spurt and Carrick would be the taller one. It always had to be one more growth spurt.
”Ohi ya Eejit!” Carrick said to the kid who tripped him but was bending over to knock some dirt off his pant leg. So it was safe to assume he could have been talking to anyone. ”Do that again and I’ll make you sorry.” he finished brushing his legs and looked up to Alex who he still gave a frown. ”What?”

All in all he was happy for the class to end and to put some distance between him and Carrick. Maybe once he had some time to cool down he could think of a work around. Figure out a way to work this all to his advantage. It didn't look like it'd turn out that way, but he was adaptable. He'd survived worse, he could definitely survive annoying jerk like Carrick.
It seemed however that fate just wanted at more straw to this poor camel's back, metaphorically. Just as he was leaving the room Carrick barreled into him. Now from his point of view it seemed like the other boy was in a rush to leave and carelessly ran into him, practically throwing him face first into the floor. By the time he was sitting up, nose stinging from the face plant, Carrick was on his feet, dusting off his pants like nothing happen. Jerk didn't even apologize. "What?"
He could hear the constructs rush forward in his head, roaring in disapproval. They didn't know better, to them all they saw from Carrick was a threat that needed to be dealt with. They've never had to deal with people like this, a situation with no out, and their aggression crashed into him like a tidal wave. "What the hell is your problem?!" He got up, not bothering to dust himself off like Carrick, hands clenched into fists.
Mismatched eyes looked up fixed on Alex and his throat let out a small rumble which turned into a snarl, ”**** like you!” his eyes shifted to the ape that pushed him and his thoughts started to race. Should he apologize for getting tripped and then having gravity take hold? No that was stupid. Should he try placing the blame on someone else? No that was stupid as well meaning there was only one thing left to do.
An angsty Carrick raised an eyebrow, ”What’s yer problem?” his eyes shifted to the clenched fists and Carrick bent his knees a bit while his feathers fanned out a bit to make himself seem bigger. Carrick’s tail flicked behind him with irritation. ”What ya gonna do eh? Start a brawl?” Carrick asked with more irritation and his teeth bared.

”What ya gonna do eh? Start a brawl?”
His world tunneled in on the person before him, no animal! To him Carrick looked like the numerous animals he run across in his time traveling. He had fought to survive before, Carrick was another obstacle to that end. All he could distinguish in this moment was the constructs crowding forward in his head, feel their animal rage pumping in his veins. His own teeth bared in a snarl, eye dilating to pinpricks. His body moved with out thought of consequence, only looking to connect fist with flesh.

Mismatched color eyes dilated more into that of a cats as he focused on the incoming fist. The winged mutants instincts sounded off in the back of his mind first, there was ‘flight’ causing his tail to twitch nervously behind him and his wings to open a bit. Then there was ‘fight’ which seemed to win. Carrick’s fists cleaned and his nails dug into his own skin a little. Ever since the shift they had a tendency to grow faster than he liked and no matter of biting them seemed to keep them trimmed.
His fangs still bared as the fist connected with his cheek. Carrick was about to fall backwards but then his wings snapped open giving him a little forward momentum. Carrick’s eyes teared up a bit as he took a swing at Alex. Who was dumb. This wasn’t the first time Carrick was in a fistfight but he was trying hard not to have it end like all the others where he ended up getting beaten up and left on the floor crying. He wasn’t going to cry this time not with all the other kids here. This was his school he had been here longer and while Carrick made it seem like he didn’t care about what any one else thought of him but truth was he really did.
”Yer just like ever'one else!” Carrick said as he swung again this time aiming at the kids gut. His wings flapped once while he swung hoping to make the kid momentarily blind.

It worked, the wings fanning air into his face made him blink. And really that's all it takes to land a solid blow. Perhaps too solid? Alex felt the air get knocked out of his lungs before he found himself sent sprawling on the floor. Well that freaking hurt. Certainly took him a moment to get his breath back and stand again.
Alex wasn't much for fighting one on one. It took up too much injury and was often too risky. But he could practically hear Mary purr in the back of his mind. The construct was excited by the fight. Her excitement was of course his own. A reminder that part of him liked this, the adrenaline, the struggle.
Carrick didn't look too please though, still angry, still animal. Obstacle.
He shrugged off his book bag slowly, moving like he was about to drop it before suddenly throwing it at the winged mutant. Then he went in for a bull rushing swing. Either Carrick would have to find a way to deal with both him and the bag at the same time or let one through. Which one was up to chance.
