The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sleep...A momentary flutter of panic hit as Evelyn debated what was worse, playbacks of dealing with her parents trying to kill her girlfriend. Boyfriend. And the assassin mom wandering around... Headache. There was a headache building now.
"Yeah, let's just deal with it in the morning. Maybe by then the echoes can think of something useful...And where's Angua?" Some guard dog...Then again, the foxsquirrel of hers wasn't much better. It just sort of blindly attacked, well, everyone.
Evelyn looked tired, although it probably had more to do with emotions than with physical exhaustion. Maya kissed her on the forehead.
>>"Yeah, let's just deal with it in the morning. Maybe by then the echoes can think of something useful...And where's Angua?"
"Good question" the mirrorwalked chuckled "I let her out before I went to shower. She is probably doing the rounds outside. I'll go let her in."
Angua was not exactly a guard animal; she was fairly well trained, but also used to the wide range of the Mansion grounds, and having a whole bunch of strange people around at any given time. She was usually more patient than alert.
"You can stay here if you want" she offered, turning back from the door "I mean, whether you want to sleep or stay up. It doesn't bother me if you want to draw or something."
Eve would probably have to deal with playbacks and echoes tonight. Might as well not do it alone.
Evelyn considered the offer, and finally nodded, wandering over to the bed and taking a seat on it. Her normal resistance to sleep seemed to have melted with all the information jostling through her head. It was like too many thoughts, and not enough space for them to sort out. Willingly or not, her body was finally shutting down to give her time to sort it all.
When Maya left to go get Angua, Evelyn curled up on the covers. Before the mirrorwalker returned, she was fast asleep, echoes or not. Clearly, everything else would just have to be dealt with in the morning.
