The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

*As the light in the room came on he hissed, squinting and flicking his gaze to the doorway. He bore his rows of horrid teeth in a kind of sick beastial grin and sent his long forked tounge chasing along the edge of its teeth and lips. A long airy noise came from him as he leaned forward more, a kind of sigh of relisation.* It need ssee to balieve, lattle one now dat 'ou balieve in meh I can balieve in 'ou * His mouth parted as he talked but his tounge gave form to all the words, leaving them heavy with acent and lacking in form. His long tail had snuck along the ground and planted itself a footstep behind the human in order to trip, or grab should she dart.* She isss sssafe if you tuly wisssh to kno', I keep 'er closse to meh. *He lifted one large paw from the ground, slowly to tap the side of his head just behind his black eye. Lifting his muzzle he took a long deep breath tasting at the air with that darting tounge and grined once again* Do not fear lattle one, 'or now i ssshoose not to ..eat 'ou *he let out a disqusted grunt* asss 'ou my tink. 'our offers 're to pawerful and...interigeing to simply kill 'ou. But don' let dat make 'ou tink I am soft *In a blink his whole head lunged forward and mouth open wide snaped shut bare inches from the much smaller woman.* (sorry its so late, too many thankgivings..mine, my moms, my boyfriends moms so much cooking . Sorry for Asga'hl's english if you ever need me to translate it back to normal for you just ask I know its kind of muddy but I really wanted to give the feel of him)
(perfectly find hun. I'ma patient person. Chandra watched the beast, her body aching to bolt and run, while her mind held her firm in her place. She likely reeked of fear, if the thing to smell such things, though anyone likely would when confronted with a live dragon. She had steeled herself though, fortified her mind and forced every piece of the fear she had initially felt down deep into the pit of her stomach. She listened to the beast as it spoke, and trusted only the single gesture it made towards its massive head.
As it snapped forward to within an inch of her face, her sole reaction was a soft gasp, and the sliding of her foot backwards against the tail. “You’re anything but soft,” She stated. “That much is obvious, though your statements do make me wonder just how long you can be trusted not to do me in.” Her foot felt the tail behind her, sizing her options up once more as her brain commanded her heart to stop trying to pound its way out of her chest. “I see this as an opportunity for us both to benefit.” She had dealt with beasts before, though those were beasts hidden within the flesh of man. They were beasts nonetheless, and she had manipulated them to her best advantage. This physical manifestation of Kiya’s inner beast would be no different. She just needed to find the focal point at which to push on to get this going her way.
“Kiya has a talent for sketching. I recognize now that you were the…” she searched for the correct English word for a moment, “aggressive side of her in the limousine.” She plastered a smile onto her face, and hoped she did not drive the beast before her into a frenzy. “I believe that aggressiveness can be harnessed, though it would of course need to be through Kiya’s lovely form, and put to use. Though both of those are things you can do for me.
“As for what I can do for you, well… that should be simple and obvious. I can keep you off the streets, away from harm, and the like. As well as provide for you. These things you do for me would not go unrewarded in forms more than just monetary.” She quirked her head to the side to stare into the deep black eyes and forced her own expression to mimic that of the beast’s. “What say you?”

*He lifted his head back and shook the rough hide of his neck much like a dog would, a ripple moved threw his tail causing it to give one good thump against the hotel carpet* I kno' des tings well anouph, 'ou will put meh in da position of powa I need. 'ou isss best not introducin 'er to no back ssstabers doh, I am knoin well wha to do wit, friendsss dat turn on 'ou, or men dat only be havin one ting on der minds *he pushed his point across by taping his long claws against the floor and baring more deadly ivory. Loudly he set his body against the ground taking up a sort of laying position, tucking his hind legs and one front paw under his body. Shutting away his teeth back under his leathery lips, he lifted his tail from the ground behind her and wrapped it instead around his own body. It was a simple thing for him to lean his body over and all but flick one of the rooms windows open, sticking his nose threw the new outlet he took a deep breath and let his tongue take in the cars and people below. Withdrawing he sat for a moment longer seemingly in deep thought to an inter conflict. Kiya knew from her post at the back of his mind, the hunger that raged threw the creatures body forcing it to take consideration to finding a way out of the building so it might feed, it didn't mind the unfortunate luck that left it only with human prey though it would have more liked a challenge then one screaming kicking pink primate. It skins, that looked more like the creature had been turning inside out, rippled with the thought*
(sorry for taking so long to post…. Been hectic ‘ere and I was a lil at a loss as to what to post.)
Chandra watched the thing as it seemed to agree with her, even if it held threats. She smiled instead of replying with some snide remark, as she might have done in her youth as a young French noble woman. “Of course, I as well know how to properly deal with those of the less than honest persuasion, or… other types.” She referred to those like Mr. Gerard, who had been brazen enough to try and slip her something she did not want the first night she had him as a bodyguard. She had broken three fingers on his left hand, and threatened to do the same to his shooting hand and toss him from the balcony if he had tried the same thing again.
The man had learned his lesson and she had even rewarded him with the occasional night at a cabaret. “If you’d be kind enough to let Kiya out, we can finalize this agreement.” She said with smile on her face as she watched the ‘dragon’ ripple in what she thought was hunger. “Or I could send for take out, though you strike me as the type wanting something… fresher. I’m going into the other room, I do not entirely care what it is you do, but I do ask you leave the room intact. It would be… difficult, to explain what why there is a large hole in the wall… and when it is at your convience, send Kiya out here, will you?”
She backed out of the room and moved over to the front door and stuck her head out for a moment. “Joseph, go get a room service menu please,” she said then returned to the sitting room and, took a seat on the couch, waiting for the beast to call out, or Kiya to emerge.
*Though the smile slipped from his face he waited till the woman left and had had her talk with the men outside, whom he already wished to toy with in their own way. Lifting his body from the floor he took the few steps between where he had sat and standing just outside the room door with a kind of eerie grace. Every muscle new just where it needed to be knew just how to step and turn frighteningly quick and without stirring so much as the tassels on the edge of the rug. As he rounded the corner his tail flicked threw the air like some gruesome dog wagging its tail at the prospect of a chew toy.* I tink I prefer to stay jus' like dis *his grin was back and without warning those same fluid muscles had all four foot of him across the distance to her and his large paw darting out to take hold of her about the waist aiming to pin her to the wall beside the door without damaging the wall itself. He would get to that in due time, when it was least convenient for her.*
Chandra turned around from the door as Asga’hl spoke and bounded across the room. She dipped away from the large paw he thrust out to try and pin her, leaving it against the wall as she moved nimbly away on the balls of her feet. She glared at him and shook her head as she prepared herself to dodge anything else the thing might try to do to her. Her grimace faded as quickly as it came, and was replaced with a coy smile.
“And here I believed we had an agreement,” she said. “One along the lines of ‘you help me, I help you, no backstabbing all around’, yet here you are, attempting to attack me with my back turned. What is it you are playing at?” She moved back in an arc, a slow circle to put furniture between herself and Asga’hl. Something to provide some cover, not that she thought it would help, though it might, and either way it allowed her to keep on the move, and in better preparedness to dash, dip, or duck out of the way from the large beast. Something she had done so many times in her 700 years of life. Of course, within a few minutes Joseph was bound to either knock or come into the room with the menu, and Chandra wanted to try an lure the beast back into the other room, lest some violence were to ensue, likely not in the favor of her friend.

*His eyes caught sight of her slipping out of the way forcing him to bend his claws into his hand and slam his knuckles against the wall. Shrugging at the small dent his foremost finger had made on impact he arched his neck and turned only his head in her new direction. A clicking sound issued from his curled lips, the sound of disappointment with an air of scolding.* I di' not sssay I was goin' to 'urt 'ou. I can go outssside an' do dat *his toothy grin appeared once again on his face his large eyes shifting from her to the door. Tapping his tail once against the floor he lifted it and snaked it forward to wrap tightly against the door handle and press it so hard into its own frame that it let out a low groan from strain* ...'Essss I heard him, and 'esss not about to come in until 'ou inform 'im that I wont tink twice 'bout tearin' 'is head from 'im body sssshould he make a move I dun like. *the muscles in his legs coiled once more but this time instead of leaping forward he sat, with an audible thunk * I am not asss bad asss 'ou might tink. Jusss' anotha sssoul trin' to make 'isss way in a world where der are no others like meh. I might like to have meh fun *he made a quick sweeping gesture with one paw indicating the path he had taken from the bedroom to the door* but if I am ssseein' you makin' good on our deal, den I'll make good on mine...'ou'll have my protection *he added bluntly leaning his weight to one side in a lazy gesture*
”You’re beginning to irritate me, is what you are doing,” Chandra responded. “Likelihood is Mr. Gerard and Joseph already know what you just said. Though making threats before we’ve made any sort of relationship is not the best of ways to build trust and establish a working dialogue. I hardly believe you won’t hurt me after the display you’ve just done.”
As she spoke Chandra moved around the room and in front of the open doorway that lead to the room Kiya had been sleeping in. “You see, I don’t need you. I doubt you could do anything to me in the first place. You’ve laid your cards on the table, most of them, I’d be willing to wager. Two forms, one an innocent little girl, one that likely needs me, the other your current self; a beastly thing of sheer agility and raw strength, however, lacking in any true mentality, yet cunning and stealthy.” With every word she grew more confident in herself, putting on a not so fake smile.
“What you don’t know is what is in my hand. Royal Flush, or just a pair of twos?” she posed the rhetorical question more in an attempt to confuse the beast and buy her time. “Thing is, I don’t think you realize how little power you really have when it comes to me. I’d suggest you either leave peacefully to ‘find your way’ among the world, or back down with your threats and act peaceably, if we’re to work together. Understood?”
She felt confident, in her zone, tensed and ready to spring away at a moment’s notice. While she knew she lacked any real way of harming the beast, being unarmed and without any real offensive mutations, she still was confident that her bluff would carry through enough weight to either cause the beast to leave, or become more peaceable and placid. She held her smile and waited for the beast’s response.
Figuring the beast had calmed to the point of just sitting there without any further action, Chandra nodded at it as though she had won the battle of wits and ended the conversation.
“Fine by me if you’re silent,” she said, wiping the smile from her face. “I’m leaving; I don’t expect you to follow. Actually, I prefer if you didn’t. Stay in this room if you want, terrorize the populace. I don’t care. We’re ended.”
She backed through the door and into the ‘bedroom’ of the hotel room. In the room, and without turning her back on the door she had come through, she collected a handful of items she could not bear to part with, including her rapier and a change of clothing, and exited through a second door that lead to the hallway.
She addressed Mr. Gerard and Joseph as she walked towards them. “We’re leaving, Mr. Gerard, go ahead and check us out, take the service express elevator. I don’t want to be held up.” She continued past him as he turned and left for the service elevator. Joseph fell in line behind her.
“What went on in there?” Joseph asked.
“Nothing to be concerned with,” Chandra responded, pushing the elevator call button.
“A loud thunk against the wall, and then again against the door followed by a threatening voice is ‘nothing to be concerned with’,” Joseph replied, sighing ever so slightly irritably. He remained silent, knowing better than to push his boss. Though Chandra left his open-ended statement unanswered only until the empty elevator arrived at their floor.
“Just a mutant Joseph, the little girl we picked up tonight, bit much for us to handle, and we’ve already had enough bad press opportunities for one evening,” she stated. “And before you ask, I’m fine. No injury, she didn’t even touch me.”
Joseph merely shrugged and pushed the ground floor button. After a few seconds of vertical travel they arrived at the ground floor and stepped out of the elevator and into the lobby. They met Mr. Gerard outside by the limousine.
Chandra climbed into the limousine and spoke to the driver as her pair of bodyguards followed. “The airport,” and then to Mr. Gerard, “Call ahead and get the plane readied. We’re moving on to New York.”
