The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"And somehow your random kids are all good and trustworthy, but you can't dare walk through the halls here without our random kids immediately shredding you for no reason. Apparently." Okay, so maybe a few people here would pick a fight with an X man; that was just what happened when you let everyone through the door. Not everyone was nice, some people had grudges. Allison would bet there were kids in the Mansion who'd pick a fight with anyone from Sanctuary, too. Even then, that could generally be solved by not wearing the X men uniform to Sanctuary. Even those with grudges weren't generally obsessed enough to memorize the habits and faces of every single X man, and predictable, hideable sex shifting wasn't nearly as easy to spot as pink hair and color changing eyes. Allison did not think the grudge here was on Sanctuary's side... with maybe the exception of herself, but her grudge was much more specific than 'the X men.'
"I have plenty of damn good reasons not to trust people." Evidently either Maya-Gawain had managed to forget Allison's explanation of Alex's father, or had never figured it out in the first place. It was tempting to throw that in her face again, but Allison couldn't think of any phrasing that wasn't too blatant. Oh well. "Including the X man who assumes I'm automatically a psychopath because of where I live, and who refused to give my kid to me without proof, then refused to accept any proof."

I have plenty of damn good reasons not to trust people. Including the X man who assumes I'm automatically a psychopath because of where I live, and who refused to give my kid to me without proof, then refused to accept any proof."
"You did not have any proof!" Maya snapped. She was still baffled by the fact that Allison would have been okay with her handing the baby over to whoever waltzed in and claimed to be the mother.
"Also, I am not saying people in general are evil here. I am saying that there are people in the Sanctuary that have... history with me."
For better or worse. And then there was Aura. Allison was trying to make her out to be some racist-bigot person who hated the Sanctuary in general. Maya was not any of that. She just had... bad experiences.
"And I am not saying you are a psychopath. And I am not here to take your kid. I thought I'd offer some help. You don't have to take it. It was the only think I could think of doing, short of hunting down my half-brother or father or whoever. But I assume that's already taken care of."
There were a lot of different responses Allison could make to Maya-Gawain's comments. I did have proof, and you refused to accept any! was one that almost certainly would have been said, probably followed by then wear a damn hat or if you keep making people hate you that just might have something to do with you.
"...hunting down my half-brother or father or whoever. But I assume that's already taken care of."
The ink bottles in Allison's hand burst. She might have been able to tell whether the reaction was deliberate or not if her concentration hadn't snapped completely to Gawain-Maya. Some of the ink shot through her hands to hover in front of her chest, and some shot into her legs and say there instead. Allison was pretty okay with that, though she did note that it might not be a good sign that pain was calming for her, even if it was from her own ink. Or mostly; the glass shards had mostly been caught between her hands too, and it felt like she might be bleeding a bit. Whatever, later; right now she was focused entirely on Gawain. "Your WHAT!"
That, of course, woke Alex up. Allison froze for a second, torn between Alex and keeping Gawain in her sight, then ducked around Alex's crib so she could to both. And, now that she had a bit of control back, glare at Gawain. "Get out."
Ink exploded everywhere and Maya was on her feet, palms in the air. She was not going to start fighting Allison, especially not with Baby X in the room, especially not in the Sanctuary.
"Whoa! Hey! Cool it!"
She was not going to cool it. In fact, she was quite possibly going to murder Maya on the spot if she did not get out RIGHT NOW.
"What, Doc told you we're related" she pointed out on her hurried way to the mirror "No one said I wouldn't murder any brother of mine if he did something like what they did to you. Just 'cause it's blood don't mean I gotta like them."
Which, in retrospect, also defeated her claim to responsibility. Oh heck.
"Don't tell me to cool it!" It was difficult to look properly intimidating while holding a baby. Allison glared at Maya-Gawain anyway, while holding Alex, rocking them and stroking their hair, since her voice would hardly be calming anyone down at the moment. The ink, after a moment's though, moved to float over her head; just in case she moved toward it without paying attention.
The Mansion doctor had said they were related. Allison hadn't paid the slightest bit of attention, since it didn't apparently relate to whether she was going to get Alex back or not. Apparently she should have. Still, "you could have been related to me. Now get out, before I call my girlfriend to get rid of you."
>>"Don't tell me to cool it! you could have been related to me. Now get out, before I call my girlfriend to get rid of you."
The wailing baby did not add to trying to control the general chaos. And if the girlfriend, whoever it was, was worth threatening with, Maya was quite sure she did not want to invoke her. Stepping back into the mirror, she turned back to look at Allison one last time.
"Well, you are not. Related to me, I mean. From what I found out, dad went his merry way after knocking up mom, so better chance is, he's spawning douchebags just like him all over the place. I am sorry about that, but also not responsible. I like the kid, and you... well, you are doin' the best you can, which is actually a lot. But. If it is ever not enough, you know where to find me."
