The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Yes. And I didn't end up broke, adapted dealers don't work against echo-ooowwww."
Maya covered the wound in antiseptic, which was probably not a pleasant experience, but better than the alternative, then dabbed the blood up once again. Evelyn went on arguing.
>>"And we can either spend all day arguing about it or move on. You got in a fist fight over a baby and left glass in the hallway. I went gambling. We're both less than perfect examples of x-men so can we move on?"
Maya huffed and didn't answer. Could they? She was right about not being model X-men. Few of the X-team were, actually. And she did get into a fist fight. She had a good reason, though. Then again, this was likely to circle back to where it all started the day before.
>>"I can finish this myself...you probably have better things to do..."
"Just stay put." Maya growled, starting to bandage the wound. She didn't really know what else to say.

Evelyn sighed and gritted her teeth through the pain. Maybe her foot stung a bit, but it felt like the feelings in her gut were the worst. She hated arguing, and in her mind, it just felt one continuous conversation, the memories too crisp, hurt feelings too raw. Maybe she shouldn't have come back. That seemed like a dumb choice now.
"Listen, I'm sorry. I don't know what else I'm supposed to say. I'm sorry I suck as a girlfriend. And I'm sorry I keep screwing up as a trainee. I was stressed out yesterday. The museum meant everything to me, and it's in shambles. I don't even know what we can salvage." The thought made her stomach turn. Things she felt were timeless, perhaps gone forever.

Maya looked up, but this time made sure to finish the bandage first.
"Wha... Evelyn, the ****?!" she said in serious surprise "You're not a bad girlfriend. And you're not a bad trainee. Hell you're probably the best we've had in a long time. That's... that's not even what we were talking about!"
Okay so this was not exactly getting her point across. Maya sighed and set her foot down, getting off the floor and sitting next to Eve on the bed.
"I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have lost my cool. It's just..."

Evelyn sighed at Mirror's response. Maybe it could be better if she let it slide, but she wasn't sure they'd ever really work through it that way. "If I were a better girlfriend I would have took your concerns seriously. My powers don't give me the best judgement sometimes." She added. She fidgeted and her foot still stung which at least was a distraction.
She shrugged her shoulders at glanced back at the floor. "I wanted to reassure you that there wasn't anything to worry about though. And it totally just blew up instead. I don't know how to fix that." Another sigh. It was days like today she wished she slept every night.

"Well it's not like it's impossible" Maya hurried to say, hoping she was right "We had a fight. It's not like it was all on you."
At least they were not yelling at each other anymore. That was a start.
"I should've trusted you on this" Maya admitted after a pause, offering an apology of her own "I mean, I was just... jealous, I guess. I wasn't really angry at you, I was angry at him and then it blew up on you when you defended him. So. Um."

Evelyn fidgeted, and was relieved for the moment things had simmered down. But it was hard to work through this without at least the risk of it blowing up again. Nothing ventured nothing gained? Something like that right... Maybe it was better to let it rest though. The problem might just evaporate on it's own, but it didn't seem like something that could be solved in this moment.
"We were both stressed." She remarked. Maya's body language was hard to read though. "So?" She repeated, waiting for the other shoe to fall. The echoes kept watch in the hallway, hoping no one else would wander through barefoot in the meantime.
Maya sighed and leaned on her knees. Part of her mind was still reeling from about the Baby X issue and the new questions that came with it.
"So... I'm sorry." she said finally, glancing up at Evelyn "I don't want to fight with you. I still hate the Forte guy's ass, but I can't make up your mind about him. So... I guess that's it." he glanced up again to see if she was willing to follow.
"... you know we could celebrate, but it wasn't even our first fight..."

>>"I don't want to fight with you."
That was enough for Evelyn. They'd have to sort through everything else, but for now, she just wanted them to be ok, and whatever it took to make that happen she was willing to try. She chuckled slightly at Maya's next remark though and leaned over, kissing her on the forehead.
"We were fighting when we met. But I do think we're getting better at working through it." There was still yelling and storming off, but it seemed better at least. They hadn't broken up yet. That was something right?
"What sort of celebrating were you thinking?" She said with a tilt of her head, clearing her mind from the jumbled thoughts she was trailing.
>>"We were fighting when we met. But I do think we're getting better at working through it."
Maya sighed at the kiss and an enormous amount of tension left the body with the sigh. Things were already looking a lot better as Evelyn smiled. Maya smiled back, tired, but genuine.
>>"What sort of celebrating were you thinking?"
"Well." she wasn't really thinking that far ahead, but Maya was nothing if not quick on her feet, life had taught her that. "I have been meaning to ask you..." she glanced up at Eve, and she felt like this was a first, even if the fight wasn't "... would you go out on a date with me?"

Maya's body language finally changed, and that was a relief. Evelyn no longer felt like she had to worry as much, and that was a weight off her own shoulders. The smile just topped things off and helped make the morning better.
Then Maya's question reached her and Evelyn blinked slightly in surprise. "I...would I...of course, I mean." Her cheeks colored slightly but she smiled, pleasantly surprised by the question. She didn't think they'd ever actually get a chance to go on a real date, after the baby, and the chaos, and the fighting..."Did you have anything in mind or...?" It felt like sort of a whim question, but she was still curious how things would work out.
>>"I...would I...of course, I mean. Did you have anything in mind or...?"
"Well" Maya smiled, encouraged by Evelyn's reaction and the slight blush on her cheeks "Your birthday is coming up, right? How about I take you out on a birthday date?"
She was winging it, but from what she could tell she was winging it well enough.
"No fighting, no dragons, no distractions. How does that sound?" she grinned. However the date was going to turn out, it couldn't exactly get worse than what they had already had.
