The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Evelyn's reaction to his move was....amusing, to say the least. It was also highly expected, considering her earlier reactions. Kyle didn't think she'd switch gears and learn that quickly, so he simply watched with amusement as she stumbled over herself, trying to make sense of what he'd just done. It was only a slight smile that edged its way across his features...slight. Shrugging, Kyle folded his arms and waited silently while she spoke...before lunging and putting his elbow within inches of her windpipe, his face deathly serious.
"I can and I did. Why? To prove my point. There are no "rules" in a real fight, no real agreement between two parties about how to conduct a battle. The only rule, out there in the real world, in the fights that matter...is surviving. And doing anything to survive. If I were someone truly trying to kill you Evelyn, the minute you faltered over that slap on your ass...you would have been dead.
He let that sink in, the weight of his words falling on her before he slowly eased off, a little of the cold aura that had suddenly sprang up fading. "If by being a jerk, I teach you something that could save your life, I'll be the biggest jerk on the planet." Calmly, he offered his hand to her. "That lesson aside, are you alright?"
After Forte's last few attempts at 'teacher' her, Evelyn fully expected the next lunge that came to make contact, and flinched backwards, feeling the blow narrowly miss. She frowned at what he was saying, and continued to shake her head in annoyance. "But who else, other than you, is going to try to use that against me? I think you assume everyone is going to try to flirt me into submission. It doesn't work that way." She circled out of his range, trying to find a way out of this training session. As much as she appreciated the help, she wasn't agreeing with the methodology.
Slowly, he held out a hand, but she stared at it suspiciously. "I'm fine." She said slowly, then the spark of irritation returned and she tried one last time to make some dent in his defenses. Her hand locked across his hand, aiming to at least hit him in a pressure point. It was the only revenge she could think of, and her ego was really hoping at least one of these useless defense techniques would work.
Kyle watched her circle away, that smile still tugging at the corner of his mouth. It was true what she was saying; he was likely one of the few people who knew how she reacted when flirted with. But what she wasn't getting was that the point of his exercise wasn't to show her she could be defeated by flirting; it was to show her that in a fight, you have to be prepared for the unexpected. And when the unexpected arrived...you had to take it in stride and keep your focus on what needed to be done.
"While I will admit I was trying to make it obvious that your quickness to turn red at certain things was something you'll have to overcome, it wasn't the key issue I was bringing up. What I was trying to get across was that in real combat, not the light sparring you're no doubt doing with someone, people will do things unexpected. Unfair. Cheating, you might say. Those that want to survive will do any number of things to ensure their survival and those who wish to cause you harm...well...there are things they'll do that no friendly spar can prepare you for. In short..."
His words faltered quickly as Evelyn, who'd taken the hand he'd offered, suddenly clamped down on it...hard. Pressure point...well..guess she learned something useful. The fact that she had a pressure point what would have been a simple little squeeze into something that actually hurt. Laughing, Kyle endured it, showing on his face that her actions were causing some degree of comfort before squeezing back himself.
"...In short, I was trying to also show you what to expect when you get into a "real" fight. Nice grip by the way...I guess they didn't waste "all" your time here."
Kyle's words had a sting to them, but not because they were rude of mean. Because they were right. She couldn't predict what would happen in the real world if she was just training 'nicely'. It didn't mean she wasn't irritated, and it showed in her last ditch attack.
It didn't really have the desired effect, so she grumbled and tried twisting his arm behind his back instead. "You're impossible to fight, you know that." She snapped, kicking at the back of his leg in frustration, much like one would kick an inanimate object that was refusing to cooperate. Nice grip... Whatever. He was irritating. And right. And irritating all the more.
Instead of resisting her this time, Kyle made no effort against Evelyn's twist of his arm, the smile upon his face refusing to fade in the slightest. He knew, just like she knew, that he was speaking the truth. And that while his methods weren't the nicest way of getting that truth across, it was getting there regardless. Even when Evelyn kicked the back of his leg, forcing him to a knee, that smile didn't retreat for Kyle knew, at the very least, that he'd taught her two things today.
"No...I'm impossible to train with. Fighting is another story entirely." Forcing himself back to standing, Kyle took a breath before shoving back enough to give his arm some space before moving into a roll to get his arm out from behind his back...before wrapping Evelyn up in a small bear hug and flinging her too the ground. Or that's what he would have done to anyone else; to Evelyn, he stopped her from hitting the ground at all, supported only by him. Smirking, he all but pinned her down for a moment.
"Just like its impossible not to like you. Take what I've shown you today to heart Evelyn; it may and will save your life one day." Releasing her, Kyle stood before offering her a hand up. "Strong move, by the way. The kick to the leg was very effective...put your weight down on the person next time, otherwise they might escape as I did."
Getting Forte to the ground was an accomplishment that was bittersweet. She was fairly certain he let it happen, but it was better than just kicking at him like a tree stump and hurting her own foot in the process. Eventually, she'd learn to better use her size and weight in a battle against someone bigger, but for now, the motivation was there. Unfortunately, motivation did not keep someone on the ground. In a whirl of motion, he moved, caught her in a bear hug and the ground rushed forward. Her vision and echoes blurred at the same time, and she flinched as he stopped her from hitting the dirt.
"I really hope my life won't need saving, but I appreciate the gesture." She said, getting back to her feet and letting the echoes reorient herself. She nodded at his instructions and straightened her shirt which got twisted in the tussle. "Practice should help with a lot of that... It's a lot different watching fighting and then trying it myself." She remarked. She glanced at him cautiously seeing if he was going to let up on the lesson yet. Her pulse felt like it was on an adrenaline spike, and she was getting ready to rest.
Watching Evelyn recover, Kyle removed himself a few steps away from her, keeping his arms hanging limply at his sides. He could tell by the glances she kept sending his way that she was on edge, waiting for the next attack to come. An attack that wasn't going to come. It didn't take a genius to know that pushing her anymore on this particular day wasn't going to get them anywhere. Evelyn was likely exhausted, both mentally and physically; not everyone was gifted in that regard as Kyle was. Today's lesson would have to be enough...for now.
"Everyone's life needs saving at some point. I just hope what we worked on today comes in handy. And, on that note of practice, remember to practice what I've been showing you. Don't be satisfied with just basic practices. If you truly want to be stronger, then you have to put in that extra effort."
Turning his head towards the mansion, Kyle could make out the distinct sounds of other people starting to move around inside. A prime time to leave was arriving; there were some prime suspects that Kyle hoped to avoid and it was looking like he couldn't stick around any longer. "Looks like I'm out of time. As much as I'm sure you would disagree, I think we should do this again sometime. When you've had a chance to better your skills with others." Smiling, Kyle turned to her, tipping his head in a slight bow towards her. "If you have need of me, for anything, you know how to reach me.
Take care Evelyn." Turning, Kyle headed off towards the entrance, where his bike and his ride from trouble awaited him.
