The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The question posed as a response received a small smile. “Well my dear. That all depends on the manner of how they’re disagreeing with me.” Simple response for a simple question. Evelyn didn’t appear to be one to make quick decisions when there was plenty at stake. Syn liked that about the woman.

The response was somewhat as expected, but the echoes still had a bit to chew on. Maybe not a direct threat, or maybe even not an intentional one. But there wasn't the denied possibility that the woman had several options on hand to deal with people who gave her problems. Fair enough. Evelyn turned the CD slowly, then prepared another question.
"Interesting answer. Well I have another question for you then. Where would you see my powers working in your vision of cooperation?" Perhaps it would be something she couldn't avoid answering as easily. At the same time, Evelyn was genuinely curious. If she were on another side, what would her echoes be doing for it? Probably more than interrogating students at the mansion or working at the museum. She wouldn't deny the glamour in the possibilities.
“First off, I wouldn’t force you to use your special talent. You’d have the freedom of using it at your own discretion. All I’d ask is that you help spread the word as well as gather whatever information you can that would aid our cause. It’s something we all do so don’t lower yourself by thinking I’m referring to being a spy.” Syn had no problem answering questions. She was used to it from all the unaware mutants she crossed paths with.

The response was...interesting, to say the least. In fact, Evelyn wasn't sure quite what to make of it. Perhaps she wasn't really asking Evelyn to do anything different, rather, just perhaps just placing herself as a source to funnel the information to. Evelyn observed a lot with her mutation, but most of it was fairly basic. So and so was cheating, someone else was flirting, another person was about to quit their job. She usually stuck with basic behavioral analysis, so much of what she noticed wouldn't be useful anyway. But in the right situation, who knew. She nodded her head slightly, content with the answer, and picked up her CD taking a step towards the counter. She wasn't sure if Syn would try to continue the conversation or not, but sometimes just the action of leaving changed the tone of things.
"A fair enough request. It certainly merits consideration." She said calmly. She shifted the Within Temptation CD in her hand, and pivoted towards the counter.
Evelyn’s response actually pleased Syn. She had gotten the white haired woman to think about the possibility. For now that was enough without forcing anything. She’d let Evelyn’s own thoughts take over and formulate ideas of what she could do.
When Evelyn stepped off to the counter with the CD Syn stepped off to the doorway of the store. There she would wait to continue their conversation and try to learn more about her new companion.
Evelyn paid for her purchases, and tucked the cd's in her bag. The transaction went rather smoothly, and there wasn't so much as an echo suggesting anyone had been following the conversation of the two women. With her bags resting on her arm, Evelyn moved for the door, and glanced at where Syn was waiting. She hadn't lost track of the mysterious mutant, and the fact she stayed while Evelyn paid suggested there was more she wished to discuss.
The mall wasn't terribly crowded outside the door. People clumped in front of stores but most seemed absorbed in their own adventures. Evelyn let the echoes wander, picking up snippets of conversation from a flirting couple, a mother and child, a lone teenager, and a few groups. Nothing was really notable. Nothing, that is, but the dark haired female next to her.
"You have anywhere else you were planning on shopping at today?" Evelyn asked politely, adjusting her bags as she came alongside Syn.
While waiting for the new acquaintance Syn looked around. No one else really stood out to her. All the usual business one would expect to find in a mall. She got a few typical glances from passersby or stares from across the hall, but she was used to these and ignored them all. Currently her only interest was the white haired woman named Evelyn.
When the other woman got close enough Syn turned as a gesture for them to start walking in the main hallway of the mall. “No place particular though I’m always keeping my eye open for something that catches my interest. Is Jensen going to be joining us now? I’d feel terrible if he had to hide all day.”
The question was worded casually enough, but Evelyn felt it could have been a knife in her side for all the force it stung with. She knew Jensen wouldn't show up. He had no reason to after their disagreements made them part ways. Part of her wondered if she should just lie and bluff her way through it. But she doubted Syn would fall for it anyway. "Another job opportunity came around and Jensen took that, so he's not going to be working for me anymore. Today he'd probably feel grateful though. He never was much of a fan of shopping." She smiled as calmly as possible.
She wondered if it was a good or bad idea admitting this much. Sometimes the truth was the better option though even when it stung. She felt this might be one of those times.
