The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gawain flinched when her jab hit him in the side. It hadn't been particularly hard, but with all the bruising from the week it probably didn't take much. The echoes could pick up her partial fibs, but she wasn't sure if Mirror could. She wasn't quite comfortable enough to discuss whether or not the boy was 'dashing', cute, or anything along those lines. It was easier to deny and avoid for the moment.
Then he shifted so he was blocking her escape, and Evelyn crossed her arms across her chest and grumbled slightly, trying not to smile. That would only encourage him. She felt a slight teasing glint take over though, and her nervous energy faded for a moment as she traded it for a somewhat more playful response. Now that she wasn't staring at the mirror she felt a little braver, and it came out in her remark.
"What do you want to hear? Oh my knight in shining armor, what would I ever do without you?" She put a hand on his chest and faked a swoon, then quickly ducked under his arm and scuttled into the room with a smirk. "I think I'm going to have to learn some real self-defense to spare your ego. You keep coming to the rescue you're going to get smug." She shook her head, moving to the dresser and starting to fish for a clean shirt.
>>"What do you want to hear? Oh my knight in shining armor, what would I ever do without you?"
The young knight grinned.
"Yep, I could get used to that... hey!" he turned around when she ducked out under his arm, and followed her back to the room.
>>"I think I'm going to have to learn some real self-defense to spare your ego. You keep coming to the rescue you're going to get smug."
"Smug?" he blinked, feigning hurt feelings "Oh, because 'I'm gonna learn to fight to save your ego' is the opposite of smug, right?" He followed her around, half teasing and half poking "Well, I'll take your word for, it, Miss I-read-people, you're the expert after all..."
Evelyn rolled her eyes and let out a huff of a laugh. "Reading people doesn't mean I necessarily always understand them. I may be able to read a book in French, but that doesn't necessarily mean it makes sense." She chuckled, shaking her head. She looked at him for a moment, and smiled slightly. "Guys, guys are like French. I guess it's a good thing you're only one half the time." She turned back to the dresser, pulled out a new shirt and tossed it on the bed so she could change into it once he left.
"I'm sure with my luck there will still be plenty of trouble to get me out of. I don't exactly have the best track record. So just in case..." She wandered over to where the broken vase was, then stopped at the mirror and flipped it back around. "At least now you won't be running into a wall. The echoes and I can just sort things out." She shrugged a little, and picked up a few of the larger pieces of broken vase, dumping them in the trashcan next to her desk.

"Oui?" Gawain said very eloquently, finally stopping in his tracks. She said the whole Maya thing so lightly it actually threw him off guard. he was used to people avoiding the subject... ... probably as much as they avoided Evelyn's echoes.

His expression softened again as she turned the mirror around. Tough talk or not, she was not completely done with being a damsel just yet.
Reaching out he took hold of her left hand, the one that was not injured, and pulled her around. They have already had plenty of touching for one day. Not quite enough.
Lifting the hand to his lips he pressed a kiss to her knuckles.
Evelyn made a noise somewhere between a chuckle and a giggle at Mirror's French, and she probably should have respected the smart alek response. The tension she felt earlier was mostly gone now, and all that was left were the little pieces of broken vase and memories. The glass she could deal with. The memories would be something to come to terms with another time.
The echoes picked up on the surprise following her comment though, and she let the echoes muse about it for a moment. Somehow, commenting on Mirror's gender change took Gawain off guard. Why was the remark so surprising? It seemed like a fairly common sort of joke between them, but maybe she was just more understanding than some people seemed to be. Gawain was still the same person whether it was a B day or a G day. While she spent more time around the male knight, that didn't mean she liked Maya less.
While she was still considering it, Mirror surprised her by taking her uninjured hand and kissing her knuckles. Her face was back to being red, and her smug smile and composure vanished as she nervously looked towards the floor then the wall.
"You're welcome" Gawain grinned as he let go of her hand and backed away. "I'll leave you to them now. You might wanna clean up the glass before you step in it..."
Because when it came to Evelyn one could not be careful enough.
"I... guess I'll see you around." he added, more hesitantly, and walked towards the door a few steps before he stopped and turned around.
"Um..."
For nowhere at all Sam's face seemed to appear in his mind, wearing the smug grin of the century.
Evelyn glanced at the broken vase, and the echoes flickered back, taking note of where all the fragments landed. Most were back against the wall, but knowing her, she would be clumsy enough to step on it. The echoes had a tendency of noticing too much, so while they would try to warn her to watch where she stepped, at the same time they'd be jabbering about what color the wall paint was. If only there was a filter she could use for 'relevant information only'.
"I'd like to say I'm not that clumsy... but I should probably clean it up." She agreed. She moved to pick up a few more pieces, then the echoes noted Gawain stopping at the door. She turned before he started to speak, and then gave a slight smile.
"I do recall you promising that." The memory flickered through her mind, word for word, and she tossed the glass in the trashcan. She pushed her hair from her face, but her bangs flopped back down almost covering her eyes again.
