The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Oh." Well... that wouldn't be much of a difference for Persi, anyway. Some friendly and some hostile people was... how the world worked, as far as he knew. He'd never been to a place where there weren't some people who hated him. Sure, in church they (well, the adults) made an attempt to pretend they were trying to hide it, but it was still pretty obvious. A place where everyone was friendly would be... bizarre. And possibly make Persi suspect mind control.
...Oh. Okay, breaking laws was a bit less normal. Yeah, Persi could see the problem there. Living with criminals seemed like it could be a bit of a problem. Suddenly Sanctuary seemed less appealing. "Yeah, that... would be."
"You should, they're great!" How she had managed not to watch them, Persi had no idea. But clearly it needed to be fixed. "And everyone knows them, even if you don't like them you've got to watch them just so you'll know when everyone's talking about them."
"Oh?" everyone knew about them? Andrea suddenly felt quite self conscious. "Well.. I do suppose I should watch them then, if everyone else has." She didn't want to be the odd mutant out, after all. "Perhaps you would show me how to find them so I could watch them? I am not very familiar with how the rental process of videos works."
She really would hate not knowing what someone was talking about... was it considered rude? Oh, she did so fret about seeming rude to people.
"Are... there many more of these types of movies out there?" Hopefully not. She rather didn't like the idea of having to watch a lot of things she might not like, just so she would know what everyone was talking about. It would seem silly doing the same thing with a book after all, why not the same for a film?

"Yeah, they're great, you'll like them. There's even a baby dragon." Not in every movie, and it wasn't there for long, but still. A baby dragon. Persi would like a baby dragon. "I have--oh." No, he didn't have the movies anymore, and even if he did, there was certainly no way his parents would allow them to be lent to a mutant. "Well... there's Netflix, that's more convenient but you need an account. And Blockbuster, I'm not sure where one is but there's got to be one somewhere nearby." Probably. Depending on how far you thought counted as 'near,' anyway. "Or you could watch them online. Hulu... you can watch some free there, but you need an account to watch more than a certain amount, so you might need to sign up to watch the movies without being interrupted. And there are probably other sites like that, but I don't know them off the top of my head." Along with Viewtube, of course, but Harry Potter could afford to stalk it and take down copies of the movies. Plus, Persi got the impression that Andrea might disapprove of watching them there, since Persi was pretty sure it was technically illegal.
"Um... well, I guess it depends on how old you are. Every generation has some." And Persi could think of several, really. He used the edge of the fork to drag syrup into thin lines between where cinnamon had fallen. "Finding Nemo is one you might like."
"... net..flix?" She'd never heard of it. Probably because she didn't watch all that much tv. "...Hooloo?" She'd also never realized people could watch movies online.
"... you can watch movies on the internet?" Blinking, she tilted her head at him. Sloth poked his head out from behind her curtain of hair, flicking his tongue out at Perso lazily.
Oh, it was just him again. The small male he wasn't allowed to eat. Yawning wide, the large snake stretched his jaws and flicked his tongue one last time at Persi dismissively, before vanishing back into Andrea's hair.

Persi paused in his syrup-dragging, and blinked at Andrea. "Um... yes. You can. Hulu is a site that has a bunch of movies and TV shows. I think you can watch a certain amount free per... day or week... no matter what, but if you want to watch more without waiting you have to make an account. I'm not sure if you have to pay for the account, or if there are different versions and you only pay for some, or what. And... Netflix is a company that you rent movies from. You make an account and a list of things you want to watch, and pay them something per month, and they'll send you three DVDs, and whenever you finish watching one you send it back, and they'll send you the next thing on your list. Or they'll just stream videos to your computer, I'm not sure if you have to register the specific computer though, or just sign in so they know it's you."
...Hopefully Persi hadn't broken Andy with that much information. He waved to the large snake as it appeared, waved back with its tongue, and then disappeared again.
