The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daniel smiled as she took her medication not waiting to ask for water or anything to make it easier. She was clearly in need to get rid of the pain and he could understand why. She thanked him and his let out a small chuckle. Daniel took the paper from her and wrote his name down on it and he gave it back to her. "Don't worry, I forget things too. Sometimes I forget complete hours." Which was kind of true. He wasn't going to tell her about the 'blackouts' that seems to be increasing in frequency. He hasn't told anyone about it, it only happened when he was alone so why would he need to?
Daniel watched her slide off the table and he nodded towards her. "Unless there is something else you want you're free to go. Remember to rest, nothing too strenuous and nothing to do with your ribs and hopefully next time I see you wont be for business." Daniel wasn't exactly sure what he was saying but he said it anyway. He didn't want to see her back her with as bad injuries because well...He'd hate to have to treat her again.
Noel froze with her hand on the paper as Dr. Daniel handed it to her. Whole hours at a time? Her blood ran cold. "We... Haven't met have we? I mean, before this?" Did she do that to him? Why would she do that? Did he do something? That other person had essentially ruined several people's lives. Did he?
She tried to search his face and get... Something. Did she remember him? But he was too nice to ruin people's lives.
No. Surely not. Noel smoothed her hair back and put the paper away.
Daniel raised an eyebrow at her. He'd been completely prepared for her to leave and never to make use of the numbers he gave her, no girl ever made use of the numbers he game them but then she asked him a strange question. "No. I don't think we've met before, you might of seen me on the street once but I've never spoken to you before now." Sure she said she forgot things but not knowing if they'd met before was one thing for sure.
The Doctor felt like she should explain. "It doesn't happen very often. It's been getting a little more frequent lately but it's never happened at work but when it happens other places I have no idea." Daniel laughed it off as if it was nothing but when he walks down the street and wakes up in his home, it can be quite distressing. Infact it's very distressing but he just assumed that he would walk home, maybe a form of sleep walking or something? He couldn't explain it. "But this isn't something I should bore you with, it's not like you're a specialist in memory." Daniel smirked and chuckled slightly at himself. He seemed to be doing that a lot.
More frequent? Noel rolled her lips together as she thought about it. No... this wasn't her handiwork. Surely she didn't meet him multiple times with increasing frequency. It just didn't jibe. "You're right. I think this is our first time to meet." But that also meant the doctor had a memory problem. A problem that seemed to be getting worse. For once, it felt like she had the chance to use her power to do something good.
"Actaully, I'm in a unique position to help. If you wanted, that is." She leaned her weight back against the table. What was it about pain that made the body so tired all the time?
"I was worried, when you mentioned lapses in your memory because that's an ability I possess. I can see memories or I can take them away." She rubbed at her tired eyes so that she could watch him carefully and gauge his reaction to her next statement.
"If you trust me, I could see what happened to you." Of course, he had no real reason to trust her. She was just a stranger off the street.
Daniel wasn't sure about this. Sure he'd just helped her out but did he really trust her to go rooting around in his head? He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her but he did want to know what happens to him when he blacks out. He'd wondered since they began and he's wondered if the voice in his head had anything to do with it. "Noel...I'm not sure about that..." but the more he thought about it the more it made sense
Surely Noel wouldn't destroy any memories of his would she? She didn't seem like the type and Daniel had just helped her. The Doctor rubbed the back of his neck and swallowed. "Okay but I'm trusting you here. Please don't..mess anything up." Daniel was entirely trusting her now and he felt a pain in the back of his head as if something was trying to warn him off it but he was going to do it anyway.
That was a reasonable request. "I won't." She at least knew that much. When she was... reading someone, she usually did so with her eyes closed. At least she did when she did it the way she was about to.
Noel brushed past the doctor to the small sink in the room and washed her hands and splashed water on her face and rinsed out her mouth. "I'll have to, uh... well, touch you. Please don't take it too personally." She wiped her hands and face on a paper towel and then there was no excuse left not to do this thing.
She turned to face Dr. Daniel Booker. "It's okay." She offered her hand to him and once they were touching she stepped in close. Noel slid her hands up to his face and held his head between her hands. This was almost a complete reversal of how they had been earlier. "It's just a kiss."
Noel pressed her lips against Daniel's and kissed him. More than just a polite kiss, she tasted him.
She had to focus her power and choose it's direction so she thought about blackouts.
Daniel relaxed a little as she calmed his nerves. She'd done this before and he wasn't exactly sure what to expect as she washed out her mouth and rinsed her hands. He stood his ground, not wanting to move incase she needed to do something specific. When she approached him two feelings emerged; what the hell am I doing? and what the hell is She doing? When she mentioned touching him, he assumed she'd hold his hand or something like a psychic but what actually happened was...different than that.
She'd warned him before hand but he didn't really have time to process that before she kissed him and it wasn't like the sort of kiss he gave to his Mother whenever he went home for Christmas. No. This was a different kind of kiss, not one that he particularly didn't enjoy mind you.
The man was standing by his car. It was late at night, the street lamps were on but no-one else was in the parking lot at this time. The man whistled a tune quite unrecognizable from any other tune imaginable but he continued quite happily. Completely unaware that he was being watched. As the man turned to unlock his door a shadow appeared over him and he turned around slowly. "Please! Please no!" The monster in the memory raised his arm up and spoke in a deep not-quite human voice. "Trust me. I'm a Doctor."
She froze mid kiss and made a small noise. Murder was definitely not what she imagined the doctor doing with his time. Only, she had noticed something strange... Noel withdrew, but left her hands on his face and looked at the doctor straight in the eyes. In the time she had left connected to his memories she looked through other blackouts. Before, after and during, but they were all largely the same. Normal doctor, thuggish bloodthirsty brute, then normal if somewhat unsettled doctor.
She was heartbroken and more than a little worried. "Are you in there?" Could she see the brute somewhere behind those eyes? Would he come to get her now that she knew? Noel had goosebumps. She let his face go and rubbed her tired eyes before she accidentally started erasing things. Was her medicine kicking in?
"I-I'm sorry." She couldn't lie without discomfort on her part so she tried to avoid that without telling him. "I don't think I can help you." Really. She should go.
Daniel's eyes widened as she questioned his presence. He was already unnerved by this point, the kiss and just about everything else. The Doctor watched the woman before him, she seemed worried and she tried to escape by saying she couldn't help him. He needed to know what she saw, he needed to know now, before he could of done without but now he needed to know. "Noel. What did you see?"
A low growl sounded in his head. His vision darkened around the edges slightly. Was he going to black out now? Was he going to do whatever freaked her out so much? So many questions, so little answers. Why couldn't he just be normal? Atleast as normal as Noel is and Noel's a mutant. She didn't have a voice that suggested....horrible things to do to people.
Crap. That was the exact direct question she was hoping to avoid."I can't tell you." Noel looked around for her things only to realize that she honestly didn't have any things. Not here, not even at Ty's. She would have to fix that. Clothes at least.
She really had to leave, but the doctor was between herself and the door. Noel sort of edged around him and calmly went for the door handle. Who could she tell about this? Who could fix it?
Daniel moved his hand to Noels and held it tightly. He slowly turned her to face him, his features showing his concern for what she'd just seen. "Noel. Please. Just tell me." He didn't know what it was but he needed to know. She couldn't hold it back from him. She didn't have the right to do something like that.
He'd been tormented by this for years and now he has more answers, she's going to keep it from him? Perhaps the voice in his head was connected to the blackouts. You don't need to know. Let me get her. Ignorance is better than truth. The Doctor shook off the voice and focused on her entirely. He looked into her eyes and spoke seriously. "Please. I need to know."
He caught her hand and turned her around. Oh God. This was it. The other Daniel was going to come out and squish her. She was all but cringing at this point. She was in no shape to fight back. In no shape to defend herself.
Noel shook her head before she could fall down that route again. She was not helpless so long as she had hope to get away.
And all the while, he asked. So calmly. So desperately. She turned her hand around so that he wasn't just gripping her wrist but actually holding his hand. This was hard, but he deserved honesty. As much as she could give him without getting herself killed.
"Doctor, I want to tell you. I do. But I'm afraid of the consequences." Calm. She had to keep calm and she needed him to keep calm. "Dr. Booker?" She wanted to remind him that he was a doctor, but it wasn't personal enough. She needed to speak to this man here. Not the other one.
Noel tried again. "Daniel... have you ever woken up and had blood on your clothes?" She'd seen it so surely he had too. Surgery couldn't account for all of that.
Daniel was confused at first then he got scared. What consequences? Why couldn't she just give him a straight answer? What was so scary that she couldn't tell him? That she had to sneak around the topic. Then she asked him that question. The question he knew the answer to but couldn't seem to find a voice for. "I don't think.." She knew the truth anyway. There was no use in lying to her. "Yes." He couldn't say anymore and he didn't think he needed to. KILL HER! She will ruin everything we've worked for!
Daniel put his hand to his head. The pain was immense. His eyes changed that other colour for a second. Was he losing control again? Was he going to put Noel in danger? He didn't want to. He couldn't. Not here. Not now. Not ever but Beast was stronger than Daniel in every way. Daniel was weak. The Beast was strong. Daniel had emotions and they were what made you spineless, unable to do what you needed to do.
The Doctor took in deep lung-fulls of air and he looked up, resuming his normal self once again. "Noel. Please just be straight with me."
He started to brush her off but then he thought about it and the taste of his words changed to something far more truthful. Yes. He saw the blood. On some level, he knew.
And then he sort of crumpled around the edges. His hand went to his head and she thought for sure this was it this time.
No point in sticking around to get dead. She bolted.
Well, she turned and made it out the door at least. Running was not an option for someone who could not breathe deeply without severe pain.
She heard him say something to her, but the door closed after her. It didn't matter. If she could just get out to the street, maybe she could get away. Did she want to help? Yes. But right here, right now? She was not in a position to do so.
