The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Eve was definitely putting up a good fight. It took a few seconds for Gawain to find the way upstairs. By the time he caught up to the chase she was on the run around the gallery with three men still in pursuit.
Still not caught. Girl has potential.
Gawain sprinted through the gallery mirror to mirror, passing her on his way to the next exhibit. He could see her when she caught up and ran into the room, the three men following close by.
"Eve, duck!"
Orders or no orders, he needed her out of the way for what came next. Three arrows shot out, hitting one man in the chest, one in the thigh, and missing the third one completely.
Gawain was out of the mirror the next second, dropping the bow and bracing himself for a close fight.

Evelyn was running out of places to go, and her adrenaline was on empty. She could hear the three men getting closer, looking pissed off beyond repair. She was certain they were about to catch her when she finally heard Mirror's voice up ahead.
She obediently dove out of the way, and ducked behind one of the stand alone displays. The cries of pain signified which arrows found their marks, and one clattered against the wall.
Her mouth twitched, thankfully it hadn't hit any artwork.
Peeking around the display, she let the echoes scan the remaining men. They were getting fuzzy again as exhaustion started to set back in, but without the energy being put into running, she focused and cleared them up. [Bleeding left side of head, favoring left leg. Removed arrow, still injured.]
"Attack his injuries; left leg, cut on head." She ducked as someone threw something at the exhibit. It barely missed the glass display above her and clattered off the wall.
Crowbar. Smooth. At least it took away another weapon. She put it in her almost empty book-bag. There was still a bag of marbles left, but no way to use them without sending Mirror tumbling through the exhibition as well.
The man with the arrow in his chest was quiet. Gawain would contemplate that later. The one with the arrow in the leg was also down, spewing a string of choice cursewords, but down for the moment.
The third one, however, was just royally pissed.
>>"Attack his injuries; left leg, cut on head."
This reminded Gawain of the Danger Room simulation, with Eve calling the shots. He almost yelled at her to stay out of sight, but somewhere he knew it would be pointless, and also, he could use the help. Shooting with his injured right arm had not been all that fun.
With that in mind, he settled for kicking the man in the left thigh. The answer was a pained yell as Gawain spun around and kicked him again, this time in the stomach. The man doubled over and staggered out of the way of the next attack, then hurled himself at Gawain, catching him straight in the stomach. They both went tumbling down. The attacked was bigger and heavier, but Gawain was better trained. They rolled around for a while before he managed to elbow he guy in the side of his head.
Stumbling back to his feet he turned to the one guy still conscious: the one with the arrow in his leg. Walking over to him he grabbed the arrow with one hand, and pulled out a switchblade from his jacket with the other.
"So." he huffed, still catching his breath, but meaning business "Who the **** sent you?"
The man on the ground writhed in pain, and glared up at the gender-shifter staring him down. Muttering, he glanced across the floor to make sure the security guard was down. "It was Avery's idea, ok? He's worked here for forever, knew the girl was a mutant but also knew her parents had a lot of money laying around to keep it kinda hushed up. We figured with the city going to hell we could use her to get money to get outta here; if her parents weren't up to paying ransom we could blackmail them with the fact they hate mutants but their daughter is one."
Evelyn bit her lip on the other side of the display. She tried to focus to hear if anyone else was coming, but it was hard to think as her drained body was loosing focus. She needed sleep... trying to run around and fight for your life didn't work so well when you hadn't slept in two days.
"I'm done with this crap though. Avery said she came in bleeding and injured and it would be easy to just snatch her and go. No one said anything about another mutant."

"Yeah, well." Gawain tilted his head, leaning closer "This other mutant is an X-man. Heard about us? We work with the NYPD, fight monsters and protect people. Oh, and we have a werewolf. So, here is the deal."
Shifting his weight as he crouched over the man he leaned on the arrow. The guy whimpered.
"If you ever go near this girl, or any other mutant, with trouble in mind, we will hunt you down. And if you think our abilities are freaky, let me assure you, I am not even second in command. So. Stick to your plan and leave."
With that, the mirrorwalker stood, yanking the arrow out, and walked over to where Evelyn had been hiding, offering her a hand.
By the time Mirror was done getting the message across to the intruder, Evelyn was quite ready to go home. She lamented for a moment that 'home' was going to be the mansion today, but with the city going to the dogs, it was probably for the better. She accepted the help to her feet, and blinked a few times to clear her head. Her bandages were looking a bit red again, and she was willing to bet adrenaline was the only thing keeping the dizziness at bay.
She would trade her echoes for a healing factor right now.
"I'm ready when you are... I think I'm done trying out the super-hero gig for today." She remarked, leaving the bookbag next to the display case. Once the city sorted itself out she could help clean this mess up...
Evelyn nodded, and felt better knowing someone could at least lock these guys away. Especially Avery. She had picked up his general irritation with her before but didn't pay enough attention to know how personal it was.
She wouldn't let that happen again.
Her echoes tried to catch her attention, and she momentarily expected danger before Gawain had her hand and a kiss was left on her forehead. Her face colored slightly and her echoes tripped over themselves and she felt bewildered by the action. And the praise. She let herself get pulled into the reflection, still sifting through the surprise.
"You....are confusing, you know that right?" She finally responded. She wished her echoes weren't groggy right now. It would make Gawain's actions make a lot more sense.
The blush was cute. The reflections felt a lot safer now that a bunch of guys were not trashing them left and right. Gawain made his way towards the outside of the building.
>>"You....are confusing, you know that right?"
"I would like to go on record and note that I have confused Miss Sherlock" he grinned, glancing back at her as they moved along. That was quite an accomplishment. He wondered if her echoes had been less muddled with blood loos, adrenaline and exhaustion, what they would have told her about him. It was an interesting thought.
