It was spring, late spring. Versula had finally gotten over her winter, hibernation state. That state which made hr sluggish and tired all through out winter and into early spring where she was just "waking up". The twenty-five year old was over the need for food once a week, now being that it was back to relatively normal.
For the next month or two she'd only need a good, big meal once every two weeks, more if she used up too much energy, which he often did. This, food once a week, or two weeks, was based on her hibernation state, so often she found herself snacking on something every few days to make sure she had the energy to do things such as shift into her other form, or climb trees.
She loved climbing trees. Versula wasn't sure if it was because she grew up in Canada, or because she was a bear shifter and practically half bear because of it, or not. It gave her a headache every time she thought about it, so she didn't think about it often.
Her boss at her latest job, nothing fancy, just working at some cafe down the street from her apartment, had offered her to take a few days off. The people around her apartment were getting restless with her being there, and her boss, a mutant supporter, had nearly demanded that she take a few days off, at least until everyone settled down. She had put up a good argument, yet when a few of her coworkers stepped into the conversation, she couldn't put up a fight, that and the fact that her bear instincts had been fighting her the whole time, roaring that she shouldn't be fighting a superior, mutant or not. Her boss was a healthy guy in this early thirties, someone who was, in her bear mind, supposed to be respected and therefor not argued with. It was one of the things that she had to deal with since she was twelve.
Versula had taken to holing herself up in her apartment for the first day, before going out, practically fleeing the building for the next three. To her, it should be enough. Enough to get her nerves calmed, even if her apartment wasn't the best place to start this out. Mainly it was to assure her that no one would try anything on her "vacation" as her boss had put it.
The Canadian American was currently curled up on her bed, having just taken a shower about an hour earlier. Her damp black hair was out of its normally messy tail, hanging limply in wavy tangles that hung just past her shoulders. Maybe she'd get it cut tomorrow. She did have enough money from the cafe finally. Her eyes were directed to the book laying on her nightstand. Ears twitching, she remembered what book it was, since the cover was off. It was apart of a series, one that she enjoyed.
Then again maybe she wasn't in the mood to read today. She would watch TV then, yet wouldn't have it so loud as to "disturb" her lovely neighbors. So, reaching for the remote, she turned on her TV and switched the channel to Animal Planet.
She didn't want to get up. She was comfy with her bright blue pajama pants and slightly too large t-shirt. Versula snuggled back into the covers of her bed, content in the background noise the TV now provided, and would, perhaps, go to sleep.
If it weren't for the noise she had heard right outside her door that is. Oh yes, her neighbors were just lovely indeed.
"Great timing." She muttered in her native american language.
