Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.

Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Trevor shook his head sagely, as if he was an expert. "Yeah the medical contition thing isn't really doing it for me," he said.
Albeit he was no where near an expert on all things medical. But, watching a lot of Discovery Health had to count for something, or else why do it. "Make a left up here," he said pointing to where he wanted to go "and then pull over to the curb so we can start this three point turn."
Trevor really wanted to know what was going on here, but he didn't want to be too forceful or too brutal in his inquiry. It wasn't like it was really any of his business at all, but once Trevor got the hint of a good piece of information, he had to hunt the source down. He couldn't count how many times he had used the State's system to found out almost everything about people. Everything was linked to your I.D. and license, or car. Trevor knew it was quite wrong, and quite illegal, but he just couldn't help himself. The urge to know was all powerful!

Quickly checking for traffic first, Clyde made the left turn. Once that was done, he heaved a sigh. The examiner had admitted he wasn't convinced. Claiming that the fact he appeared to be a kid was due to an obscure medical condition might have worked on some, but he now knew that it didn't quite cut it with this guy. Well, if he was going to be forced to explain himself, at least this was a far better place than back at school.
“Let's put it this way,” he stated. “Not all mutants shoot deadly stuff from theah hands.” He was coming as close to admitting it as possible without actually saying anything direct. His mutant status wasn't something he liked people knowing, but this guy seemed to have caught on. “You mutant friendly?” he asked hesitantly. It was a little worrisome that the man was catching on. After all, what if he was a mutant hater?
For Clyde was still driving, he returned his full attention to the road. He pulled the car towards the curb and toggled the blinker, preparing to do the three point turn.
Trevor was so shocked, he completely forgot about the three point turn. He could only stare, his eyebrows raised in surprise and a bit of suspicion. Was this teenager in a child's body admitting to being a mutant? Things being what they were it wasn't always the best to let it be known. But the most shocking part was, this would be the first mutant Trevor had ever met, that he knew of. He was not a particularly religious man, but this had to be way more than coincidence.
Ever since Trevor had arrived in New York City he had thought about trying to find other people with mutations. He had read about different groups, a school, clubs and everything for mutants, but always had been hesitant. This was like the universe pushing the mutant bird out of the nest so to speak, and Trevor was totally caught off guard.
"The first person like me..." he thought to himself.
"Uh yeah I guess I am mutant friendly. I mean I'm not one for self-hatred" Trevor explained.
"A mutant, a stuck in a seven year old's body mutant" he thought. Was there some kind of hand shake or special greeting they should do? "Do we rag on normies, or whatever we are suppose to call them?" Trevor had never thought about meeting other mutants, he never really thought about his particular mutation unless it suited him because he needed it. Getting things off high shelves, or the remote from across the couch, things like that. He had definitely never thought of admitting it to anyone. But the young man had taken a risk, and so Trevor was obligated to do the same. He could only hope this wouldn't come back to bite him.

As Clyde looked around to make sure no cars were coming, he couldn't help but notice the examiner's shocked expression. It really was no wonder; he did just drop the “I'm a mutant” bomb. The funny thing was, the majority of media tended to portray mutants as destructive monsters of one form of another. From that, he saw it fit to assume most people didn't even think of mutations like his.
At first, Clyde let out a sigh of relief upon learning that the man wasn't hostile towards those with the X-gene, but what the guy said next left him stunned. “Self-hatred?” he repeated to himself. Was he admitting to being a mutant himself? There was no denying that he'd been taken by surprise. The man looked normal. Judging by what the age shifter had seen, he seemed to act normal, too. But, apparently he was also a mutant.
Clyde was almost shocked enough to stop the car dead in its tracks. It was a good thing he didn't, because he was pretty sure a stunt like that would mean an auto-fail on the test. Instead, he continued to complete the turn and settled for asking questions. “So, tell me,” he inquired, attempting to keep a stoic appearance, “what resulted when yo X-gene wreaked havoc with yo genetic code? I'm guessing you got lucky? You know, something useful, oh at least manageable?”
Though his version of curiosity wasn't the eager type, it was strong. As far as he could tell, there was not so much as a hint about the nature of the man's mutation. Which, though enticing he curiosity further, it also bothered him just a bit. It wasn't something he'd try to let people on to, but mutants that were free to live normal lives made him jealous.
Trevor looked a little confused for a bit, until he realized what exactly he was being asked about.
"Oh umm. I kind of create this gates, I can transfer stuff through them" Trevor informed. "I know that sounds crazy, I'm not a scientist or anything so I really don't know how to describe it, or really how I do it."
Trevor realized, that maybe he should start to look more into his mutant ability. I mean, it was just like a muscle or anything else, and people were always saying practice makes perfect. Who knew what all he could do if he explored his ability and stopped neglecting it?
"So, you are like an immortal child or something?" he asked.

Clyde contined driving as he listened to the man's explanation of his powers. Transferring stuff through gates? Strange, he thought. Thinking hard on what he'd heard, he could only come up with a couple of guesses. “Teleportation? Making doors in walls?” They were only speculations. As the description was confusing, he wasn't sure if either of those were what the examiner was trying to put into words.
“I wouldn't say immortal,” he replied to the question. “I'm an age-shifter. I can still get hurt and stuff. Not so sure about the whole 'old age' thing, though.” He didn't know enough about his mutation to know the answer to that. There was no saying whether he'd stay that young forever or if he still aged in some fashion.
Clyde remembered that he was still in the middle of a test. “Anyways, what do I need to do now?”
Trevor gave a little start, realizing that he had totally forgotten the purpose of this drive.
"Uh yeah...pull over to your right so you can show me a three point turn" he said a little sheepishly.
He still had a lot of questions in his mind, like what exactly was an age-shifter. How long had he known about his mutation, and did he know any other mutants. Maybe if he could get the turn and the parking out the way really quick, they would be able to take the long way back to the office, so Trevor could assuage some more of his curiosity.
"Make sure you use your signal with every point" Trevor reminded. So many people forgot about that, and ended up failing because of that. It was something that the DMV took a lot of points off for.

Given the whole mutant conversation had come up, as well as the fact they were both mutants, Clyde knew that his attention hadn't been all there. However, this guy must have really been distracted. He'd already finished the turn! Unless there was a second three point turn? Oh well, he wasn't going to question it.
“Um... okay,” he responded. It appeared the car was still on a part of the road where a three point turn would be legal, and there were no other cars coming, so making another of those didn't seem like it could hurt. The signal flipped on, then the car started to pull over. He proceed through each step, and, as reminded, used the turn signal. Once the turn was completed, the car continued driving the other direction.
Clyde glanced back at the examiner. The man was a fellow mutant, and therefore, there were a few things the age shifter wondered about. “Have you met a lot of mutants befoh?” he asked, curious. Clyde knew that he'd had his own experiences meeting others “like” himself, and some of them weren't very good.
Trevor continued to contemplate the situation, barely paying attention to what was going on. As far as he was concerned, as long as Clyde didn't hit anything, he was going to pass. The fact that he was riding in a car with another mutant was much more exciting a thought than anything else.
"As far as I know, you are the first person like me that I have ever met. At least the only one who has admitted it to me" Trevor replied. "I mean I haven't met any bird beaked men or anything so I wouldn't really know I guess."
Trevor then pointed where he wanted the car to go. Deciding it was about time to start heading home. There was a place close to the building where they could do the parallel parking part of the test. Hopefully it wouldn't be packed like usually. Trevor hated parallel parking himself, it wasn't something that you really needed to know in the south, not like here in New York.
"What about you? Have you met any other mutants before?" The asked.

Being behind the wheel, Clyde tried his best to focus on the road, though the presence of another mutant also was begging for his attention. He compromised, quietly listening to the conversation while still watching traffic.
>>"As far as I know, you are the first person like me that I have ever met. At least the only one who has admitted it to me. I mean I haven't met any bird beaked men or anything so I wouldn't really know I guess."
The age shifter couldn't believe what he just heard. Almost everyone he'd met in the area seemed to have had the experience. But, he had to admit that he himself was fairly new to being around others like him, so he knew the feeling.
Clyde slowed to a stop upon coming to an intersection marked by signs. “I'm the first?” he spoke, a tad shocked. After checking the traffic and waiting for a few seconds, he continued on the course back to the DMV. “Then again, I guess I hadn't really met any othah mutants face to face until I moved heah several months ago. I don't know about you, but I think theah's something about this city, being liberal New York and all. Anyways, yes, I've met a few. Plenty of crazy memories. You actually seem pretty normal compared to some mutants I've met. Not that all of them were crazy, of course.”
