The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The sound of a car, and radio chatter slowly escalated from nearly inaudible to clearly decipherable. With it came the steady movement from blank black screen to the dashboard camera view anyone who watched cop shows would recognize.
"-prting suspicious sightings near 4th and Samuelson. Culprit resembles the suspect from the 2nd st break ins; use extreme caution... When confronted suspect responded violently; we've got a cop killer, here. We're looking for a female, shape changing mutant; often seen with wings. 461, you're the closest to the scene, 414 and... 971 are en route."
"That's our queue... You ready, roberts? Chime in, will ya?" An older man's voice was heard, and was met with a quick reply. "Yeah..."-Click-" 461, en route."
The camera fast forwarded as the police turned a few times, and met with the image of a woman walking down the street. As the picture normalized, the younger voice was already speaking up on the radio. "-Possible suspect in sight, confirm, any break ins in the area?" There was a pause, a phone was heard ringing in the back ground. "Question suspect, seek suspicious behavior. I'll get back to you on the incident reports."
The woman disappeared around the side of the vehicle as it pulled up next to her, but some dialogue was heard.
“Hello,” The woman's voice came in first. “Is there something that I could help you with?”
“Ma'am, what is your business in this neighborhood?” the older man spoke from his seat, an air of suspicion in his voice. “Just out for a walk, officer, is something the matter?”
The radio kicked in, drawing the officer's attention. "Confirm, about a block away, on first, reports of a winged mutant peeking in windows. Bring in suspect for questioning."
The door opened, and closed again, and murmuring was heard off to the side as the officer questioned the woman further. The voices escalated quickly, and the officer was words became clear. "Hands behind your back! On the ground! On the ground!" And with that, the mutant appeared on the screen once more, clearly fleeing the police officer. A curse came from the audio recording inside, as the younger voice spoke into the radio. "All units, suspect is fleeing, I repeat, suspect is fleeing!"
With that, another car zoomed in from in front of the girl, and the younger man climbed from his car, slamming the door hard enough to shake the camera. As he passed in front , the car was blocked, so any impact with the car that cut her off was not seen. The A view switched to a second dash cam as a third car pulled up, and the scene of a struggling mutant was very well documented.
She was on the ground, three police officers got there quick, and struggled to cuff her, one of the mutant's wings smacked into a cop's face, throwing him back and to the ground, he recovered quickly, though his face was bleeding. "Stop struggling!" The call from a female officer was heard, and then repeated over and over as the scene played out. The woman didn't respond, too busy screeching incoherently. It was clear that her wings were a dangerous obstacle, as they smacked at the officers trying to restrain her, and nearly threw them off. "Disable them!" A cry rang out from the man with the bleeding face, and a fourth officer joined in to help the third in relentlessly beating the wings until they stopped moving. On the other side, she'd bitten at the elder officer's foot, and he placed a knee on her head to keep it still. "Stop moving dammit!" His gruff voice was heard yelling.
When she failed to stay still, he stood, and began to smack her in the head with his nightstick.
After she lay still, the video ended with them lifting her up to place her in a squad car.
----------------------------------------
The video was released in a press conference, the chief of police, the mayor, and several other officials sat as another very important looking man spoke at a podium. "Upon reviewing the evidence, the officers involved in the Schuyler case were found to have acted appropriately given the situation, and have been absolved of all wrongdoing. She clearly resisted the officer's attempts to detain her, and proved to be a great enough danger to provoke the amount of force used by said officers. Given the long running risks when it comes to incidents involving mutants, and the dangers often presented, a necessary amount of force is authorized.
The state has chosen to drop the charges of resisting arrest, and assault of a police officer placed on Mrs. Schuyler due to her cooperation after the fact... At this time we will not be taking questions on the issue. Thank you for your time."
A murmur went out around the room as the speaker turned and exited the stage, and the other officials turned and followed.
Thanks to Andrea and Jorge for my sigs! I WABBLE YOUUU! AV Roach~
The press conference, and the attached video left a whole nation shocked, and for some time, everything was silent.
People needed to think; they needed to decide where they stood. Some already know, and they just needed to decide how they would act on such stances.
Either side they took, one thing was painfully clear; america was divided. Some people saw the dash cam clip as all the proof they needed that the NYPD was just putting another dangerous mutant in their place; some still saw a frightened young woman being brutalized for no reason... But it was more than just that.
That short little Viewtube video, labled "Visible mutant, Police brutality", was nothing but a straw. But this straw was falling upon a pile heaped with years of wary looks, whispered words, mistrust, and even all-out racism on one side, and frustration, lower wages, segregation, fresh wounds from a regestration act gone horribly wrong, and violent killing sprees on the other. It looked as if this straw just might be the one to break the camel's back.
Before any loud cracking sounds were te be heard, though, a young man sat at a computer, a few drained cups of coffee scattered about his desk, and a few days of missed shaving might have been enough of a hint that he's been there a while... If that wasn't his empty stare at a web page would do the trick jsut fine...
He'd tried it all. He'd tried writing large manifestos and speeches to outline his frustration. He'd tried cursing up a storm. He'd tried calmly explaining his feelings to the people who followed his simple opinion blog...
But then it came to him; it was one of those rare eureka moments that people only got once in a lifetime.
Everyone who he talked to already knew how he felt. Why? Because they felt the same way. So when he finally typed out his blog post, it took up only one short line.
And with that, the peaceful portion of the protests are kicking off!
You can enter your character in the thread above, or start a thread of your own at the same protest, or a protest down the road. There will be plenty!
Aside from pro-mutant protests, there will be schedules anti-mutant protests! You are more than welcome to start one of these as well, provided they don't become bloodbaths. If you want to be a part of getting act 3 started when it does, send me a PM!
For now, though, general info:
The X-men have been officially asked to help monitor the protests alongside the men and woman in blue. This mean long days and sleepless nights if you want your character to be involved! This is, of course, not manditory; you can even have your character be a part of the protests, or ignore it altogether. Either way, talk about it onThe X-men plot thread!
The Order will defintely have a lot of footwork to do. Let me know if you are interested in plot stuffs for Phase two, or better yet, post in the Order plot thread!
Any other questions, concerns and great ideas should be brought up on the normal Phase two plot page!
That said, some good ideas have come up already! I'll be linking them to this page!
