The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kait’s response made Victoria feel even worse now. Was she making fun or was she being serious? It didn’t matter because either way it still stung deep inside. Unfortunately she found herself replying back. “NO, I CAN’T!” She shouted back. She didn’t mean to shout but she was so overwhelmed at the moment it just came out. “I have to feed on blood to live.” Her head drooped down and her voice got softer. “There’s nothing I can do about it.”

“Well, you don’t have to shout!” Kaitlyn whispered. “Do you want to get us caught?”
Sigh. The Orderling sunk into her swivel chair.
“Sorry I asked that, though. I just… I mean, that’s tough. I didn’t know.”
She fell silent, looked at the monitor with the security feeds. That was tough. Especially since Victoria had to go out and kill someone on purpose, all up close and personal-like, just so she could survive.
Something occurred to her.
“You know… I could try to delete the recordings of you running around all covered in blood, if you want. That’d make it harder to figure out it was you.”
Kaitlyn was developing a lot of respect for the vampire girl. Since she was trying to mess with the recordings anyway, the least she could do was cover Victoria’s back.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!

Tears still ran down Victoria’s face. She didn’t want to get caught covered in blood. All she could do was nod at Kait’s response. She didn’t know just how tough it really was.
Sniffling and wiping the tears off her cheeks as well as smearing blood on her face the blonde girl listened to Kait’s proposal. “You could do that? You’d do that for me?” If she could help keep Victoria from being noticed in her current state then that would be wonderful. She could keep her secret for awhile longer.

“Well, I think I can. Probably.” She shrugged. “But if I can’t, it prolly won’t matter anyway, ‘cause I don’t think they check this stuff unless they think there’s a reason to.” She turned to the screen, clicked a few places, opened up a new window. There were a couple things she hadn’t tried yet, and she hoped one of them would work.
Click. Click click. Click.
“It’s no big deal, though. We mutants gotta stick together, and, uh... well… “ She turned to look Victoria in the eyes. “It wasn’t anyone from here, was it?”

Watching the red haired girl work Victoria hoped she could delete the feed from the camera that showed her. A sense of anxiousness rose up inside her. “I hope you can.” She crossed her fingers just in case.
“No, it wasn’t anyone from here. I couldn’t do that. The people I’ve met so far have been nothing but nice to me here.”

“Alright, that’s good.” Kaitlyn turned back to the screen. “At least you… uh…”
… At least Victoria didn’t kill another mutant? Because that would have been so much worse than killing a human? Because human life just wasn’t as big of a deal? It made sense to the Orderling, logically speaking, but something about that line of thought made her stomach turn. She couldn’t make herself say it out loud. It was different when the dead guy didn’t deserve it.
“…yeah.”
Click. Click. Click. Click. That didn’t work at all, but she figured out how to make individual cameras stop recording, which could come in handy. That might even be enough for Kaitlyn’s purposes. There was still one thing she could try to help Victoria, but… aw, crap. What was it again? That whole thing about the blood-drinking and the murder was really distracting her.
“Couldn’t you just get a blood pack or something?” She blurted.
“At least what?” Kait had raised the blonde girl’s curiosity now. Was she thinking something terrible? Maybe she saw something on the camera feed. What was it? Victoria was wishing she knew more about electronics besides some musical equipment.
Kait’s next question was easier to deal with. “I had some but I ran out and I can’t go very long without feeding or I start to hurt and get sick.” She hadn’t had to push herself too hard yet in trying to resist the urge to feed. She didn’t want to hurt, but at the same time she didn’t like having to hurt others in order to stay alive. No matter what she did the hunger always won.

Kaitlyn nodded. She was deep in thought, no longer paying attention to anything on the monitor. After a few moments of silence, she turned to face Victoria again. “You know, I could probably get some more for you. That way you don’t have to kill anyone else.”
Lisa would be able to get some blood packs, right? If she could get a hold of a military grade lockpicking thing, she could probably find a few stupid blood packs.

Her red eyes widened with joy at Kait’s statement. If she could do that then there wouldn’t have to be anymore senseless deaths. “You could?! Really?! That would be so great! I’d be so thankful to you Kait!”
Wondering how the other girl could make this possible, ideas swarmed her head, but she quickly shook them away. Right now she was just happy that this girl was willing to help her. Perhaps she was in the process of making a new friend. That in itself would be a wonderful thing.

It made Kaitlyn happy, seeing Victoria’s eyes light up like that. Those great, big, red eyes. Red was Kaitlyn’s favorite color. She’d never realized how pretty someone’s eyes could be with red irises. She almost didn’t want to stop looking at them.
“Hey, no problem.” The Orderling shrugged, started to smile.
Even with blood on her face, streaked with tears like macabre makeup, Victoria was beautiful. More so than Kaitlyn had realized, the last few times they’d seen each other. Those last few times had only been in passing, during lunch; Kaitlyn had glanced at the other table, recognized the blond girl who had red eyes and avoided the sun, and went about her business. She didn’t have a reason to really notice her until now. And she hadn’t heard Victoria’s voice before. That accent! The pace, the rhythm, it was so fun to listen to, so different from anything Kaitlyn had ever heard before.
“I mean, it’d help you out a lot, and all I gotta do is call a friend. So, sure.”
And Kaitlyn didn’t know what Victoria had gone through, but now she felt like she did. Victoria knew what it was like to be a danger to everyone around her, even the people she cared about. Victoria knew what it meant to be responsible for killing someone. Finally, Kaitlyn felt like she found someone who understood her, or at least who could understand her.
And all Kaitlyn could do for the moment was sit there and smile and stare like an idiot.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
All Victoria could do was stand there smiling big at the red haired girl. She was really going to help out, and she seemed happy to do it. That in itself made Victoria feel over joyous. She wanted to hug the other girl but then quickly dashed the thought. She didn’t want to get blood on Kait. In fact, she needed to get changed and cleaned up very soon before someone else spotted her.
“Thank you so very much Kait! That means a lot to me! I hope we can be friends.” The little vampiress smiled again. “I should really get going so I can clean up.”

Realizing that Victoria was about to leave, Kaitlyn snapped out of it.
…Whatever ‘it’ was. Victoria was a girl. Was she just…?
Kaitlyn snapped out of that one, too.
“Err, wait a second. If you get blood on the doors, they’ll find your fingerprints and everything.” She jumped to her feet. “Lemme get those.”
After putting on one of the gloves from her jacket pocket, she opened the door to the security office, then led Victoria to the Mansion’s back entrance. “Let me know when your hunger acts up,” she whispered, opening the second door with her gloved hand. “I’m in room 413. I’ll hide the packs in there when I get ‘em.”

Victoria turned to leave but she was quickly stopped by Kait. She looked surprised at the girl wondering what was wrong. That’s when Kait explained about the blood on the doors and fingerprints. The blood covered blonde stopped and watched Kait open the door.
Just before stepping out Victoria heard Kait tell her about the blood packs and what room she was in. Victoria smiled again brightly. “Aitah Kait! I’m very grateful to you. See you around the mansion.” With that the girl made her way carefully to her room and cleaned up.

“Goodnight,” Kaitlyn whispered back with a smile. She closed the back door.
Then, she sighed. Her legs shook as she walked back to the security office, but not because she was cold. She felt like she’d just finished watching a good movie or reading a good book. The episode was over, Victoria was gone, and all Kaitlyn felt was melancholy, empty, drained. It was like Victoria had taken a part of Kaitlyn up to her room with her.
The redhead shook her head, tried to focus on the security cameras.
And… done. All the recordings from the last eight hours were gone, and the cameras that would’ve caught Kaitlyn going back to her room stopped recording. All she had to do now was lock the door to the office behind her. And try not to wake Alice up when she snuck back into their room. And try to figure out why Victoria made her feel so strange.
