The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tses blinked at the question, and chuckled slightly, looking down at her drink again. What was stopping her?
"I don't exactly have the skill sets for most jobs to start. I don't have any real legal identification for another thing... If I wanted to try being 'normal' and get employed and all that, I'd have to get normal enough to make myself a life." She remarked slowly. That was assuming she knew how to read, and assuming maybe hacking or her computer skills could get her somewhere. What would she put on a resume? I'm really good at data retrieval...and lock-picking.
She finished her drink and stood with a stretch, she was getting restless sitting for so long. "Maybe I just have never been committed enough to the idea of settling down and...growing up? I don't know. I keep considering it but don't know if it's my cup of tea."
Sarah took a drink as she listened to Tses. The blonde had a few reasons that the brunette could understand, but it seemed more like excuses. Watching as the blonde stood, Sarah decided to listen to that last of her piece.
Once Tses was done, she gave some input. "If you ever decide to get a job, it shouldn't be hard. You don't have to really worry about some of the legal stuff if you find the right place. I can name a few I know that don't care for what you are, so long as you're not an illegal alien. Most are labor, but a few have positions for desk jobs."
Sarah turned in her seat to stretch her legs out. They had been sitting for a while now. "To the "normal" thing: not many people can define normal so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even if the job is just a "sometimes working/sometimes not" thing, it might be nice to take a break. You know?"
Tses fiddled with her cup a little, considering what Sarah said. While the girl had been polite enough during there time together, there differences were evident the longer they spoke. Maybe Tses could be respectable, someday. She wasn't sure if she had enough pushing her to do it yet though. The legal stuff would be difficult, true, but there was also that fear of committing herself to something; a place, a home, a job. As she was now, she could leave when she wanted, run from her problems without looking back. She was a ghost light, fading into the distance and no one could catch her. She was still young.
But youth wouldn't last forever. "I don't think I'm the desk job person. I lack some of the basic...talents necessary for that sort of work." Reading, writing, proper grammer, people skills. "I don't want to make a lot of excuses, I just know that it's something that would take a little more time for me to be ready for. I've lived on the streets my whole life. Kinda like wandering in a jungle then wandering back to civilization."
She didn't quite think she was an 'animal', but she knew it was frightening even sitting here having coffee. Staring at a menu in a restaurant and trying to pick a drink from a list she didn't understand, wandering through a store and trying to get groceries she didn't have to cook... she lived in an apartment with no decorations because she was ready to run. It was hard to resist leaving and never looking back. But it would be nice knowing she had something to return to. "A break would be nice though... It's something to think on." She gave a little smile and it faced once more as she shrug.
The way Tses spoke about coming to New York caused Sarah rethink her position. She herself had always thought that returning to Seattle after camping was difficult, but what this woman spoke of was something far different, yet somehow similar.
>>"A break would be nice though... It's something to think on."
Sarah smiled. "Life in the city isn't for everyone. My uncle and cousin prefer the wilds of the forest to the wilds of people." The brunette tried to put together words that would make sense. She knew what she wanted to say, just not how to actually say it. "While I'm sure you could easily live in any method you choose, I always like to have a safe place I can go when things get to be too much for me."
Sarah looked outside the window at the now snowy ground. Several people were passing the cafe without a second thought. "I always think of it as a "break from routine". A way to reestablish why you do what you do, you know?" A small laugh bubbled past her lips. "Sorry, I talk a lot."
Tses wondered how she would have survived in the 'wilds' of nature. The most nature she'd seen was Central Park, and that wasn't particularly natural as far as most people were concerned. New York was a forest of concrete, and she adapted to this environment. Being out of it would be a surprise and a struggle. What sort of place did she consider 'home', in the long run though? Was it the streets? Or did she want to settle down...
"It's ok. You're talking gives me something to think about I guess. Since I don't spend a ton of time just being social, if someone doesn't point things out to me when life slows down I don't think I'd ever really think much on them. Your advice is helpful." Tses said, taking the last sip of her drink and walking a few steps over to toss it in the trash. Then she paused at the nearby window and gazed out into the snow. It would be a cold walk home, but she had adapted to such extreme temperatures. She could still get sick, sure, but she could push past some of the painful sensations of the weather and do what needed to be done. Home wasn't too far at least.
Sarah smiled weakly as she listened to Tses. A glance at the clock on the wall showed how late it had gotten. Though the snow filled clouds covered the sun, the hour was getting late and the world would get cold soon. While a taxi would be the safest thing, Sarah wasn't planning on using her money for transportation.
"Seems time flies when you're talking, huh?" the brunette smiled. "I think I should head home soon. I'd rather not get stuck in the cold. I'm gonna go throw this," she held up her cup,"away. Want me to take yours too?"
While Sarah did feel like she had made at least an acquaintance, she really did feel like she needed to get home. She hoped her sudden talk of departure wouldn't make Tses think she didn't like the conversation they had been having.
Evelyn glanced outside at the girls remark, and nodded calmly. She cared little whether it was late or early walking home, but she understood other's behaved differently. Cold was tolerable, but not necessarily preferable, so it would be nice to get home anyway. "I suppose it does. Thanks." She added as the girl took her cup. She pushed her hair from her face, and gave a slight smile.
"Hopefully you can get your sketchbook and stuff home ok without them getting ruined by the weather. I appreciate the conversation but I wouldn't want your stuff getting ruined because of it." She said politely. It was a rare but sincere statement, and she shifted, ready to head towards the door. Her apartment wasn't too far; she hoped Sarah's was about the same distance if nothing else.
Sarah smiled as she listened to Tses's comment about her things. She was happy she always carried a bag for her supplies.
"Thanks, try to stay warm during the season, alright? And don't be afraid to call me whenever," Sarah stated while gathering her things.
With a quick wave to the blonde as the brunette began the brisk walk to her apartment. As she moved, Sarah looked through her things a second time to make sure she hadn't left anything in the cafe. While she knew the staff would hold any items she may have left, she always liked to be sure. While she searched she found a few extra bills hidden below a few things.
Sarah looked behind her to see if she could get to her new friend. Before she stopped completely, she shook her head. 'I'll get her back next time I see her.'
