The pause was mutual, only for Quin it was a mental pause. Literally every thought in her head stopped for a moment, and her eyes slid sideways to look at Ashton without turning her head.

He corrected himself, and a nervous giggle escaped Quin's mouth. Thank God she hadn't been drinking beer like she had been a moment before.
Mentally chiding herself for not being more with it in her response, she simply shrugged her shoulders.

He really hated worrywarts who never smiled unless their life was depending on it.
Hopefully, the lighting in the bar and the pizza in his mouth would distract from the unintentional heat on his face. He wasn't even sure why something like that would be there. Wasn't like he'd just done something embarrassing or anything. Nope. Just gotten a girl to smile.

Yup. All was good in Mike's bar.
The pizza was good, the beer was good, the company was good, the advice was good. The outfits were really good. That was the thing about skipping out on official business things...sometimes it felt really good.
"Thanks for skipping out with me." Quin said, as she finished up her pizza and leaned back in her seat to watch the game while she finished her beer.
