The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

An eyebrow quirked. She had no freaking idea what he was talking about (in the politest terms possible). "I've never offered to sell the Order. I'm not sure what you're saying." There was no tone coloring her voice. Nothing negative or insulting. Nothing threatening or threatened, simply rote fact. "If you followed me through the meeting I had earlier, like you say, you'd know that. All I spoke with that man about was working alongside him as an ally, rather than a rival. It was a talk about territory. He has plenty. I want to extend the Order's. It's but one step towards the Order taking over New York."
In her mind, it was very clear and cut. It was simple. It was insightful, smart, and the best way. Some might not see it that way, she realized, but that was their fault, not hers. If Shade was one such person, that was his problem. The best she could do was explain. Though if his previous actions and body language were any indicator (which they were), she somehow doubted he'd believe her, or trust her at all.

For Shade, trust was a hard thing to earn. It went with his nature. Being invisible had shown Shade that everyone had secrets. No one was truly who they said they were. Everyone always had on a mask.
Shade saw the twitch and misinterpreted it as crack in the Adapted's mask. His grin widened into a smile. If Adapted was not willing to admit her fault, the shadow mutant was fine with that. He would just bring it to the attention of the other members of the Order.
"Offering them our territory sounds a lot like selling us out to me. But do what you will. Just remember, I'll be watching you from the shadows." Shade said before turning to leave.
Yep. No trust, whatsoever. The grin spelled doom for that ever being a factor in anything pertaining to their interactions. It was too bad. He had skills he was using far too unprofessionally. She could have helped him make something of himself. He would have made a good set of eyes and ears or problem-solver. Under her guiding hand, he would have made a lot for himself, and helped the Order expand.
With how he was talking, she expected he thought she was doing the exact opposite of expansion. And also, he was threatening her. She never broke her composure for a second. "Think what you want," she stated calmly. "But if you ever get in the way of the Order's expansion plans, I'll kill you." That comment was stated as emotionless fact.

Shade had managed to put some distance between him and the Adapted, almost at the edge of her aura, when Lenna spoke. Showing her the tiniest bit of respect, the shadow mutant stopped and cast his gaze back at her words.
"Well at least on that point, we can agree. You get in my way, expect the same." Shade replied. He walked two more steps forward before he finally escaped that dreaded aura. His abilities switched on, and he disappeared into a shadow.
