The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hunter had had enough, time to show the boy that he was serious. Moving with superhuman speed he grabbed the cat and hauled him up into the air. Grabbing halfway up the tail with both hands his pulled.
With a sickening sound he ripped half of Calley’s tail off. He threw Calley into one corner and his tail into the other. “Change back to human. Now.”
Hunter wondered briefly whether the pain had just over ridden Calley’s conscious mind as he effortlessly prized open his jaws. Lifting Calley off the ground he seized him about the chest and began to squeeze.
He stopped when he head a rib crack and said again, “Change back to human.” He would really like to avoid killing Calley, he had such potential, but if he couldn’t learn to follow orders then he would have to find other methods of spying.

Calley
...Now that delayed sick feeling was kicking in. Calley took in a sharp breath, and felt like his ribs were trying to stab him to death. Holy crap. He was bleeding, and there had been a cracking noise, and holy crap. This guy was actually going to kill him. That look in his eyes left no doubt: he was looking at death, right now.
He hadn't quite believed that fact until just now.
He turned back to human. Shifting to a larger size in Hunter's grip did nothing to help his ribs. He'd get to visit Jimmy later, or he'd get to die. Such wonderful options.
“Good,” said Hunter in the level tone, “Now one final question, what do you do when I give an order?” For Calley’s sake he’d better get this one right, as he was running out of time.
If they took to long Hunter didn’t think that Dr Ingram would be able to reattach his tail. Once Calley had shown that he had learnt his lesson he would be taken to the doctor and have his broken rib looked at, then he shift to a cat and his tail would be reattached.
He’d most likely have to wait as a cat for a while for the healing to begin, but he would probably get full use of his tail back. At least he would if he answered correctly in the next five seconds.

Calley
It took awhile for Calley to formulate thoughts. This wasn't a defiance issue--it was a shock-is-seriously-settling-in issue. "I obey you, Sir," he managed to croak. Oww. Oww. He'd never had a broken bone before. Now it felt like his chest was broken. Oww. Calley decided something: he did not pariticularly like the Scary Boss Man.
Hunter allowed himself a small smile as he went and picked up the end of Calley’s tail. Grabbing Calley by the back of the neck he nodded to the door which opened and he stepped out into the corridor and began marching Calley towards the infirmary, which was deliberately located not far away.
Once in the infirmary he was met by Dr Ingram who had been watching the proceedings. “Fix him up,” Hunter said simply and placed the tail in a bowl of ice to help preserve it.
Dr Ingram motioned for Calley to get onto the bed and said in his usual bored tone, “You’ll need to shift back to cat so I can reattach your tail. After that I’ll bind your ribs and you’ll need to rest for seventy two hours before you shift again.”

Calley
Calley tried not to look at what Hunter was holding as he was marched down the hall. He felt very sick. In fact, the urge to throw up on the man's shoes was almost overwhelming--he could taste the bile at the back of his throat. He was only kept in check by a sudden urge not to die right then and there. The man had smiled as he'd picked up the piece of Calley's tail. Smiled. What was wrong with this guy?
Calley just stared at Doc Jimmy as the man explained, without any interest, what he was going to do. It didn't sound like fun. But there was the Scary Violent Boss Man watching him, so here was Calley climbing onto the bed, and painfully shifting to cat. The shock was letting him note the most curious facts: like how when he first shifted, his ribs were whole. And then, with a crack they broke all over again. And he was pretty sure his tail actually shortened down and started bleeding again. His body hated him. That was his only conclusion.
He really hoped Doc Jimmy gave him painkillers this time. He did not want to feel it when his tail got reattached.
Hunter nodded to Ingram to do what he had to and turned to leave. Before doing so he said, “Calley, today was only a taster of what will happen if you disobey orders in the future.” With that he left.
Dr Ingram pulled out and excessively large needle that he made a point of checking where Calley could clearly see it before injecting the cat with the sedative. He then proceeded to reattach the tail, bind up his rib and them place him in an enclosure to rest up for the next three days.
There were several pillows in the enclosure for Calley to relax on when he woke up, as well as a note on the wall saying, “It was not about the pillows”. Whether Hunter did this to make things clearer to Calley or more confusing only he knows, and he’s not telling.

Calley
...Calley woke up from a very bad dream about death threats and syringes, and found himself in a pillow-lined enclosure feeling a bit like Frankenstien.
He tried to look mornfully over at his tail, but his ribs protested that rather violently. Whatever sedative the good doctor had given him had long worn off, leaving him groggy but fully concious of pain. At least he could feel his tail tip. It was the sort of thing he never knew he could appreciate so much.
This was just a taster, huh? Uggh. Calley wished he could trust himself not to be so stupid in the near future. Unfortunately, he was already thinking of how he could have done more damage to the man. Using tiger form instead of cat form, for instance. Did he draw blood when he bit the guy? He really hoped he had.
He glanced up, and read, "It was not about the pillows".
Pfft. Says the violent one. It was definitely about the pillows. The pillows, and the fact that the Scary Boss Man gave stupid orders about stupid things. Calley picked himself up, and limped over to a stack of fluffy whiteness. With a murr, he buried himself.
Comfy. Now if he just didn't move at all, maybe his ribs would stop hurting.
