The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Mmhm.” Quin said, taking the keys that were pressed into her hand and starting the car.
The trip back to the precinct wasn’t nearly as eventful as the trip to the scene of the crime. There was no reason for sirens, so that meant that the redhead behind the wheel had to follow traffic laws. Why did she feel like she was 16 again, taking her driver’s test with Ashton in the passenger seat? She’d already done plenty to impress…and unimpress…him.
They didn’t talk much. Quin didn’t want to push any buttons, and he’d said he had a migraine. So…she decided silence was the best policy and simply drove.
Back at the station, Quin exited the car and winced as she remembered she was still wearing (part of) Ashton’s vest.
”I..uh…I’m going to fix this real quick.” she said, returning to the car to pull out the casing. Almost like a snake, the Kevlar removed itself from Quin’s body, coiling down her arm and flowing back into the hole she’d made in the seam.
”And I can re-sew the seam if you want.” she said, holding the thing out for him to inspect if he wanted. ”I can also make it fit better next time you wear it.”

Quin waited patiently as Detective Drake tried to find his keys, realized he was wearing a vest that was in the way, then pulled the thing over his head. The redhead noticed, as he did this, that he really wasn’t having any trouble standing now, an wondered if he’d just liked the help.
Having solved the problem of the vest, and found his keys, the Detective handed her that very same vest and climbed into the passenger side of the car.
Then she became the barista again. This time with a Kevlar vest.
Several inappropriate comments to make to one’s superior were on the tip of Quin’s tongue…but she held them back and settled for clenching the material so hard she left finger marks in the Kevlar beneath.
She smiled. It was the least she could do. She had taken apart his other vest.
“ Be right back.” she said, and retraced their footsteps to the officer who had loaned them the vest.
”Thanks…” she said, unburdened herself, and made her way back to the car.
Once there, she climbed into the driver’s seat and held out her hand for the keys.

Well…that wasn’t what she’d expected to happen. Quin had nodded her head while he outlined the reasons why it was stupid for them to sit there in the car and not do anything, only halfway paying attention until she heard the car door open.
Wait…what? Had he just said they were going in? Without a plan? Did they have approval to do that? Did it matter?
Learning from her first mistake, Quin had stashed her own, well worn and torn vest in the back seat of the car. She grabbed it now, along with Ashton’s and climbed from the passenger side as he quipped about the jacket. She held out his vest so he could take it and grinned.
” Don’t worry. It’s too nice to give it the….distressed look?” Quin didn’t really know what she was talking about. Not matter though, hopefully he’d get the point.
Once out of the car, Quin got her vest situation sorted out, which was only a matter of a few seconds work, then tossed the building blocks back into the car. As to her prowess with guns...
“ I’m a good shot.” she said, resisting the urge to joke about her prowess with a firearm. This was serious business and Ashton probably really did want to know how good she was.

Quin, at least, had the good grace to blush when Detective Drake pointed out that she could have warned him as well. He was probably talking about the vest, but Quin wasn’t going to push her luck and verbalize any thoughts.
Apparently what she could do to help is drive. Drive and then have coffe…or tea. Yeah. That was probably a good thing considering the one who’d driven here could barely stand on his own. Quin nodded her head, ”Just give me the keys. I know a couple of different ways back to the station from here.”
As to the coffee…or in her case, the tea.
”And yeah, I could go for some tea.”
The police really did take all types. Lucky for Quin. Really lucky.

Apparently Detective Drake didn’t mind the help. Quin continued to help him as they stood there, and she waited for an answer to her question.
What had been different?
At first the statement made Quin want to dump Ashton on his face…but then she gave him a chance to finish and felt a little better about the whole situation. He didn’t normally teleport with people. He wasn’t calling her fat. That was good. ” Anything I can do to help? Or does it just go away with time?” she said kindly….then frowned a bit.

Detective Drake only answered one of her questions, and Quin nodded her head, still holding on to her superior and staying close to make sure he would stay upright. Apparently his power normally worked better, not giving him migraines.
Quin frowned.
"What was the difference this time? Why the migraine?” Yeah, he’d said he had a migraine, and yeah Quin was still asking questions.

Well, that was something, at least. Quin couldn’t help but smile a little bit at how everything had gone down. Other than being incredibly frightened, the hostages were fine, and everyone was sent on their way as soon as questioning had been completed and vital information had been taken. It was time to go back to the station. Not too bad for a first day’s work, Quin decided, but erred on the side of caution in the face of her earlier debacle and waited to speak until spoken to.
Ashton…Detective Drake…approached, and Quin looked up as he spoke, then stumbled. Instinctively, Quin stepped forward, one hand on his chest and the other arm around his shoulders to make sure he stayed upright. Had he told her she’d done a good job? Secondary on her list of concerns.
”Are you alright?” she asked, not loud enough to draw attention in case it had been a simple stumble.
“Anything happen in there that I missed?”
She gave the comment a moment to sink in, then posed one more question.

”Yeah.” she said, in response to Ashtons bluff about her shooting skills. ”I’ve got this problem with showing off.” she said, still staying where she was on the ground.
The clones swore some more, but they listened, then slowly they disappeared. All but one. Broken shot guns fell to the ground. The one that was left…who Quin supposed wasn’t actually a clone, then dropped his gun and put his hands behind his head with his fingers laced.
Ah, he knew what he was doing. Nice.
Only after the robber had gotten down on his knees, did Quin get up off the ground and move forward, reaching behind to grab her cuffs. Then it was time for the rules…completely by the book.
”You have the right to remain silent…” somewhere in the distance, backup was notified that the threat had been neutralized.

Quin stood and got ignored some more, wondering just how long this punishment was going to go on. She’d said she would replace the vest, she’d said that she wouldn’t make the same mistake again. It was frustrating, and she knew she could help here, but she didn’t, she just stood with her mouth shut and watched.
Again, the point was reiterated. They did not show off in the MRC division, then Ashton grabbed a cone and threw it at the doors. Quin’s eyes widened, what the hell was he playing at with that? Before she could say anything though, he’d grabbed her arm and they’d…disappeared…and reappeared.
W. T. F.
They were in the bank. They were in the bank and there were people…and robbers…and why the hell did everything smell like cinnamon?
In what seemed like less than a single breath, Ashton had hit one of the bad guys in the face, taken his gun, and turned the proverbial tables a bit. He aimed a comment at Quin and it took the redhead a moment to figure out that he’d made another Star Wars comment.
Before she could even mutter ‘hypocrite’ in regards to showing, Quin failed to regain her footing and landed soundly on her rump. Once on the ground, however, her head stopped spinning a bit and she could look around.
Several clones were scattered about, but luckily they were all close enough that Officer Archer could feel exactly what she needed. A few moments later, triggers fell right off of guns, magazines fell free of their casings, and firing mechanisms melted to fill barrels. The only guns not affected was the one in Detective Drake’s hands, the one in his shoulder holster, and the one in Quin’s shoulder holster.
”And I don’t know who shot first…but I know who’ll shoot last here.” she said, drawing her own firearm and aiming at the nearest, now uselessly armed clone.

It was so hard to stand there and not say anything while Ashton asked for a vest, and ignored her, then sniped at the officer in charge, and ignored her. She wanted to point out that she could probably cover them both if they went in…as long as she took the rest of the vest they’d left in the car. She also wanted to point out that most guns were made at least partially of the materials she could manipulate.
Guns really didn’t scare Quin, as long as she could see them…
He was going in, and suddenly she was worried. She’d taken his vest…they were getting him one weren’t they?
Suddenly, she was being asked about her weight, and Quin was so shocked by the question she answered without thinking.
“Around one-forty the last time I checked.” Then she blushed, and glared. What was this guy playing at, trying to get her to embarrass herself in front of half the precinct?
Quin shut her eyes and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "Am I going in as well or am I waiting here? If I am, you can just have your vest back, and it'll fit better."

Oh man. Oh God. Why? Why? WHY? had she thought she could impress someone who worked in MRC with her mutant powers? Why had she taken a vest she’d been loaned and tore it up? Quin mentally berated herself the whole time they were walking and the whole time Detective Drake was berating her. She deserved whatever she got, which was probably a quiet trip back to the precinct and an invitation not to let the MRC doors hit her in the ass on her way out. What was she going to do? No other departments would want her. She’d have to go back to Indiana. Surely the force there would take someone with two years of beat experience in New York…
They stopped, and Ashton started asking questions. Quin instantly shut off her mental nagging and paid attention, paid close attention to the details. The only thing she could do now was show Detective Drake that she actually could follow orders and do the right thing. It was her only hope. If he wanted to pretend that she wasn’t there, she’d do her best to blend in to the background and be invisible.
There were clones in the bank, they’d taken hostages. It was too bad she was blending in, because Quin had some ideas about how they could handle the situation. For now though, she said nothing, did nothing, and tried to look like she hadn’t just taken a step in the right direction to ruining her career.

That look on Ashton’s face...Detective Drake’s face. It was…not impressed. Quin’s smile faltered…then fell right off. He was pissed. This wasn’t fair. Okay…so that was his vest, but he’d said she could use it. She was using it the best way she knew how.
”I…I can fix it. I think.” she said, all teasing and showing off far from Quin’s mind. She’d screwed up. She’d really screwed up her first day on the job. This sucked…this more than sucked. Why had she gotten so egotistical? Pausing in her mental tirade, the redhead sucked it up and prepared to take her well deserved medicine.
“I’m sorry. I’m used to that being okay. It’s how I use them. I’ll replace it and this won’t happen again…sir.” Man…hopefully she could fix this mess.

There were parsecs and shortcuts, and all kinds of stuff like that. Quin tried to follow along, and failed miserably. Sure she’d seen Star Wars, she’d seen in a few different times, but she hadn’t memorized it, or figured out how to use the units of measure that were in the movie.
What Detective Drake said made sense though, he also knew the streets. He knew the streets really well. Quin was impressed, she’d have admitted it if she’d been asked. He also handled the car like a pro, despite her previous comments. This guy knew his stuff.
They pulled into the bank parking lot, and as they got out of the car, Quin realized something. “Where’s your vest?” she asked, noting that she’d only seen one in the car. Listening, but not waiting for his answer, and remembering her promise for a demonstration, she winced in apology at her partner and tore down the seam on the side of the vest he’d let her borrow.
There wasn’t time to pull off her jacket and shoulder holster to make space for the thing, so Quin just concentrated on the Kevlar inside the vest. She’d felt it singing to her from inside its fabric casing the second she’d picked the thing up. It only took a few moments, and the Kevlar inside had removed itself, leaving an empty shell behind as it molded itself into place under Quin’s jacket and holster and over her shirt, it was one piece, so she wouldn’t have to worry about it falling off. There was extra, and she simply tossed it into the passenger seat she’d just vacated. Quin grinned at her partner.

Apparently Detective Drake felt the same way about the local mutant freak show that she did. Quin nodded her head, eyebrows raising as he spoke. ”Yeah…they’ve broken in on a couple of busts I was involved with.” She shook her head, ”They bust things up, they get in harms way…and they don’t think about silly things like warrants or Miranda rights.”
She was on a roll now, and what was that he’d said before?
”Also, the fact that you just compared yourself to Han Solo, encourages me to think I should make you pull over and take the keys because you’re either drunk or delusional.” Had she just said that? Quin winced in the passenger seat, ”Sorry. That was rude.”

Quin laughed while Detective Drake made his guesses as to why the vest would fit her. Yeah, so wrong. They hit light speed near the entrance of the parking garage and Quin was suddenly thankful the car had an ‘oh shit’ bar for her to hold on to while they moved. Obviously, they’d be there in no time.
”I’d show you right now, but I don’t think you need any help killing us with this vehicle. Pay attention when we get there and I’ll explain more later.”
He made one correct guess, and Quin nodded her head, ”Damn straight.” she agreed, ”And I’m not an idiot in a costume being an idiot and screwing everything up.” Maybe it was obvious how she felt about the local vigilantes…maybe not.
