The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jorge
Jorge sighed. He was thankful that the gambit had paid off. He knew that he was just piling on lie after lie, but it was what he needed to do. He was not going to die by the sword of some Duke in this time. He needed to make it back home to his own time, to the woman that he loved. Whatever had hurled them backwards through time, had to be able to be undone. It simply had to be.
But, with little clues on what happened in the first place, the most that they could do was simply survive until they could figure a way out. That was going to have to mean that they had to blend in as best they could. Hopefully while doing so, they could figure some way out of this mess.
>> "We thank you, your elegance. Your hospitality is most appreciated."
Jorge nodded in response. Hopefully this would go well.
“Agreed, we are extremely grateful for your hospitality.”
The troupe moved on and Jorge and Shawn followed along with the duke riding horseback and the rest of his men.
The rest of the trek to the castle seemed rather uneventful. Safely walking with the armored men seemed to help ease the people’s wonderment at the strange garbs that both Jorge and Shawn wore. Though the men and women they passed on the way to the castle walls still stared, there was less fear that Jorge could feel from them. They were…almost accepting. Maybe they were just used to the odd dresses of foreigners when they were part of a precession. Certainly visitors from other countries dressed in far stranger clothes.
Jorge sighed though as he watched them approaching the marketplace that was set up before the large, castle walls. Though people may stare, at least the tight quarters also allowed them to move slower. From there Jorge could hopefully trying to think of some more back up plans and lies for them to stay alert.
He nudged Shawn as the pair of them walked on and he nodded to a few of the townspeople who were out and greeting them. The gleam of their silver weapons were obviously be big draw because soon people were gathered, gawking and waving at them as if they were celebrities. Jorge merely waved back before he whispered to Shawn.
“Nice job on the weapons,” he said with a nod. “Its garnering us a lot of attention.” He wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing, but it was definitely a development.

Jorge
Jorge smirked as he glanced out of the corner of his eye. Chase seemed to actually be a little impressed that Jorge was a cop that worked with mutants. The boy seemed to drink up every single word he said with an excitement that the detective really was never sure that the boy possessed. Most of the time whenever he spoke or was left alone with Chase, the boy was rather subdued and seemed a little unsure of how to react around him; unless of course he was with Lizzie. Chase just loved his little bulldog and the presence of the boy had really breathed life into his old puppy.
But that was off point. Jorge explained his job and Chase seemed to definitely be impressed, to the point that a glance at him made it seem like the boy was watching an intense action movie.
>> “That’s so cool! You must meet so many cool mutants! You’re like… Christian Walker, from Powers!”
Jorge smirked a little and tilted his head. Christian Walker? Powers? He was afraid to say that he had not met or heard of either of those. Maybe it was from a TV show or a video game? Jorge was known for not always being up with the lingo or pop culture of the youth. But, he had let it go, for the moment, since Chase suddenly looked a little shy at what he said. Jorge hoped the boy was not going to suddenly clam up all of a sudden…
>> “Yes please,”
He nodded. So the boy was going to see his job place. He was fine with that. Maybe he could get him some of those deputizing stickers that the officers usually pass out students whenever they do school fairs. He was cure that Cynthia had some around somewhere.
Turning down the road to a shopping center, Jorge slowly pulled up to a stop. The dry cleaners was here where he had dropped off his suits for work to be cleaned. As he pulled into a parking space, he sighed as he turned off the ignition and unbuckled his belt.
As he began to get out, he could stop his curiosity.
“Chase, if you don’t mind me asking,” he said, “What was that…you know…name you compared me too? Christian…something? What’s that from?” he asked with a friendly smile.

Jorge
Jorge nodded. So far it seemed as if the Duke was actually, possibly started to buy their story. That bit about the bandits seemed to help cement some of that. Thankfully Jorge had a feeling that it would. It was the perfect explanation for at least SOME of their inconsistencies. Bandits making off with their horses was a good touch, good enough to hopefully make it past the Duke and his men. But he only hope that Shawn could make some believable weapons. He saw that silver bow and arrow from before and that was pretty damn convincing.
>> "Thanks for going along with this. I'm obviously grasping at straws here."
Jorge smirked, though it really was not the time to be doing it, but he couldn’t help it.
“Obviously, Sir Quincy of Beetlejuice,” Jorge muttered as he pretended to look through the bushes that Shawn had led him to.
As he did though, he actually took a second to marvel at the sight. Shawn subtly shifted himself into silver and managed to produce a pair of swords that looked balanced and well enough to fit the both of them. He really was impressed with this young X-Man. Thankfully the kid had this ability or the two of them would be sunk right now…
>> "Do you want a bow or the sword?"
“Sword,” Jorge said as he took the blade that was offered to him. It would going to look funny, them not having any sheaths to slip the swords into, but they could always chalk that up to the thieves as well.
He then watched as some nice, strong looking shields were made. One Shawn crafted with the emblem of a scorpion, and other created with a raised boar’s head on its surface. Shawn really did have an artistic eye to be able to make such things out of nothing. Part of him wondered if he was an artist or something, but before he could think too far on it, the shield was offered to him. He nodded as he took it and slipped his arm into the handles. Having a firm grip on it, he tested the weight and it certainly seemed adequate.
>> "Think they'll buy this?"
Jorge nodded. “Looks real enough to me.”
>> “I sure hope this works, otherwise this could be a really short trip."
Jorge sighed as he straightened up and gave Shawn a calming nod. “It’ll be fine. “ Jorge confirmed and slipped the sword into his belt. It would have to do until he could get a sheath for it. “We just got to stay on our toes. Ready?”
Once he got a confirmation from Shawn, Jorge turned and began to head back to the Duke and his men. Proudly Jorge continued with his character of a knight from Hogwarts (siiigh) and tried to keep the mindset of the time that they were in. As they approached, the duke and his men all eyed the weapons with confusion and wonder. The weaponry was obviously not battle hardened enough but they had a beauty about them that made the soldiers just slightly jealous. Obviously, these were the weapons of high rankings.
The duke, most of all, eyed the weapons with a near greedy-like look upon his face.
“My,” he said, “those truly are quite impressive. The crasftsmanship is quite…remarkable.” He said as he eyed them both. “But, how were you able to escape with those in hands. Those alone are worth far more than a simple pair of horses.”
Jorge nodded.
“Obviously, my lord,” Jorge said. “We, unfortunately had to make a choice when we escaped. We take our weapons, or our horses. The woods were too dense for our horses, so…we took our weapons in anticipation with meeting with more unfriendly company.”
Again, the duke narrowed his eyes as he watched the both of them. His snake-like eyes did not let a single thing escape his vision. He seemed to try to pierce into their very souls, trying to extract whatever information he could. But it was slowly becoming apparent that no matter how hard either of them tried, they would never be able to read this man’s expressions. Not the true expressions anyways.
But, he smiled.
“Wise decisions. Weaponless, you both probably would have been far worse,” he nodded “Sir Quincy, Sir Cervantes, please, join me on my trek to the castle to meet my grace. You shall find food and warm beds for the both of you.”

Jorge
Jorge did not like awkward silences, especially since he felt that this was a time for him and the boy to try to get to know each other better. But he definitely did not want to for the kid into talking to him if he didn’t want to. Thankfully, though, when he asked his question, there seemed to definitely be a twinge of intrigue in Chase’s eyes. The boy wanted to know. At least that was a topic that the detective knew he could discuss AND it would help cement their relationship a bit. After all, they were supposed to be getting to know one another, correct?
>> “No, she hasn’t.”
He nodded, keeping his eyes on the road. Gemma was more than likely just focusing on getting Chase used to his new life to really go into too much detail about himself. After all, all the boy really needed to know was that he was a cop and that he could be trusted. Gemma must have trusted him to explain more when the time came.
Jorge definitely felt that the time was right.
“Well,” the detective said as he pulled to a stop at a red light. “Check this out.”
Once he stopped, he pulled out his wallet, flipped it open, and handed it over for Chase to see. The gold shield was much like any other police badge. But it was not a fake, toy badge. It gleamed with shiny, polished metal and had a weight about it that few citizens really expected the badge to have. But underneath the badge, in his wallet, was his police ID that had to letters “M.R.C.” on it. He smirked slightly as Chase inspected the badge and ID and turned his eyes back to the green light that had just shifted.
“I work for a special division of the police department,” Jorge explained. “The M.R.C.—Mutant Related Crimes.” He eyed the road as he drove. “What that means is that I work with a lot of mutants, everyday. Sometimes they’re the bad guys and I have to arrest them, but a lot of times, they are the victims so I help them. Either way, when there is an issue involving mutants, they call me.”
Jorge still remembered the first day he had ever met Chase. He was there, working, and it was the perfect example of him being there to help a mutant. Chase was the victim of his parents, victim to a broken system. And Jorge was there to make sure that the kid, a mutant, had a fair chance at life. To make sure that he didn’t go back to his cruel parents. But Jorge didn’t bring that up.
“You know, I actually have some business there by the end of the day,” Jorge said with a warm smile. “Would you like to see where I work?”

Jorge
Jorge sighed, a little satisfied with himself that he was able to hit the target again with just as much skill as he always had. A glance down the range and he saw that other shooters were not having as much luck, except for that sharp shooter he had spied earlier. Of course that man had obliterated his targets without much problem. He certainly did have a plethora of guns about his person as well. He must have been a collector, or an enthusiast…he hoped that was the extent of it.
But Jorge pushed such thoughts out of his man. So long as the man was not parading around with a bazooka and a gatling gun in his hands, he was not going to pry on his day. He needed to get his own practice in.
A glance at the target he say that his own was pretty tore up as well now. He knew that it was time to replace it.
“Everyone okay with my changing targets?” he announced to the group once the last shot was heard. Once he got the okay back from everyone, Jorge holstered his gun and plucked up a pair of targets.
Stepping out onto the range, Jorge moved to his on target and pulled it off of its place. The bullseye was pretty much gone, littered with the holes left behind by the bullets. The old target removed, Jorge replaced the target paper with a fresh sheet, as well as placed another target above that one. He wanted to try his hand at a pair of targets this time. After all, he rarely was attacked by only one person anymore.
Targets situated, Jorge headed back to his stand with a grateful nod to the rest of the shooters. Behind his stand, he replaced his goggles, replaced his earplugs and took a breath as he stared at the two targets that glared at him from across the range. His hand rested on his at his side, he took a breath and released it slowly.
Then, a second later, Jorge pulled his glock from its holster and unleashed two rounds into the twin targets that were situated ahead of him. Both had bullet holes directly in the centers of their bullseyes and the detective smirked a little.

Jorge
Jorge watched the exchange in silence. Shawn was doing his best, but he was floundering. Bad jokes were really not the best things to be throwing around today, not with the company that they were staring down. But still, the detective could not blame the kid for at least trying.
Unfortunately the tides quickly began to turn against them. The Duke’s men were eyeing Shawn as if he were something kind of harbinger. At first Jorge really did not understand why. Then he remembered the X-Men’s eyes. They were silver and more than likely it was easy for them to look just slightly unnerving, especially to this populace. They had never seen mutants before. And in a world filled with such religious turmoil that anything out of the ordinary seemed supernatural, they were definitely on the wrong side.
The last thing he wanted was to be burned at the stake, not that he couldn’t get out of that, but it was inconvenient nonetheless.
In strong silence he continued to eye the Duke who was peering closely at them. Whether or not he believed them, Jorge couldn’t tell, but watching the man closely. They were being peered at, scrutinized for validity to their stories. Finally, he spoke up…
>> "What do they call you two in your distant lands?"
Jorge’s mind whipped into a whirl. How much renaissance literature had he read in his lifetime? After all, that was his major in college. He should be able to come up with some names that would be iconic and yet vague enough to not draw suspicion. Maybe--
>> "My name is Sir Shawn Quincy, Lord of Beetlejuice. And this is my traveling companion Sir Jorge Cervantes, Duke of Hogwarts and we are X-Knights of the Round Table."
Slowly Jorge turned to look at Shawn. Was he…SERIOUS? Not only was the older cop flabbergausted but he really just had no way to register exactly what was said. He was a Duke from Hogwarts!? Should he laugh, cry, or punch Shawn out, he simply didn’t know. But he was going to have to hope that it was just ludicrous enough get past medieval nobility.
"Where are your swords and horses? Surely if you came this great distance you didn't come by foot and certainly without any protection."
>> "They're in the brush back there. We decided to leave them there and enter your domain unarmed as a sign of good faith on both our kingdoms parts. We can get them if you would like us to enter with you."
The Duke arched a brow as he peered closely at both men. His expression was unreadable until finally he muttered.
“Please do,” the man gestured to the bushes. “I would like the seen the emblems of your country for myself. I’m a collector.” He said as he motioned for them to get to the bushes to retrieve their swords. “And what of your horses? You must have traveled by some means.”
Jorge lowered his gaze a bit. Get their swords from the bushes? The detective hoped that the kid had some plan for getting out of this. He nodded to Shawn as they both began to head to the brush, but along the way he finally decided to chime in.
“Unfortunately, my lord,” Jorge said as he gestured down the road from whence they came. “My companion and I were ambushed by some rogues. A large man, with a thick mustache and dressed in red. We barely managed to get away with our swords. Our horses, unfortunately, were taken.”
A spark of recognition flittered across the Duke’s eyes.
“You both came from the west? Hmm, you must be strangers to our lands,” he chuckled. “No traveling with a right head comes from with the west without an entire guard. Those roads are infested with the Red Baron Cris and his highwaymen. We’ve yet to capture them. The woods around the road are dense. Maybe…there is some accuracy to your stories…”

>> "Maybe coming to the castle wasn't the best idea ever.”
“It would seem so,” Jorge mumbled as he paused. Slowly he turned around to face the newcomers onto the scene.
The guards were all standing a safe distance away, a pair of them holding pikes with points aimed directly at the duo. Jorge narrowed his eyes as he watched them, trying to figure some way out of this situation. Sadly every scenario he thought of involved harming these men. He doubted he would be able to shift into his water elemental form fast enough to scare them off again. And even if he managed it, these men would probably retreat to the castle to garner more forces. There where would that leave both Shawn and himself?
It was far too risky so that most he could do was to hopefully play dumb.
>> "What is you propose here? You have been caught young man, you and your Spaniard, trespassing on the Kings land. What business have ye in his domain wearing such strange attire as this?"
There they go again with that SPANIARD business! The detective knew he should have kept a closer eye on his history. Then again, who could have really anticipated something like this? What he did know was that there was a tense relationship between the English and the Spanish, though how tense really depended on the era in which they were in. For the most part, Jorge could not tell that on appearance alone.
Unfortunately, the attention seemed to be fairly focused on Shawn, rather than himself. He hoped that the kid could at least keep some of the attention off himself…
>> "First of all, he's not 'my Spaniard' he my friend. Secondly, I'd appreciate it if your pals could lower their weapons seeing as we are unarmed. And thirdly, who the heck are you?"
Jorge saw the spear being pointed roughly towards the Shawn. He would have jumped into action there, but the look in the X-Man’s eyes told him to remain calm. For the moment it looked like they were going to have to play the roles that they were dealt. Eyes on the man on horseback, and his trigger happy guards, Jorge mere watched and waited.
The royal, merely smirked on Shawn’s question. “You must be new to these lands, boy,” the man announced with a cackle. “I am Merek Seymour, Duke of Devonshire. What business do you and your Spaniard have on these lands? Be you spies?”
Jorge rolled his eyes. Of course they would think they were spies. He ground his teeth as he tried to think of some way out of this, that wouldn’t result in them altering the flow of time. Instead he merely glanced at Shawn and hoped the boy had some ace of up his slee—
“Oi,” one of the guards said as he crept closer and eyed Shawn closely. “What is wrong with your eyes? Has the devil marked you?”

Jorge
Jorge still could not believe that he had fallen back to that old, clichéd standby of “how was school”? What, was this a sitcom or something? But really, what else was he supposed to say. Really, he had never spent any significant time with the boy, and that was his fault. Though he got along with the kid around Gemma he never actively tried to spent time with him alone. Maybe the reason was simply that he did not feel like intruding on this boy’s new life. After all, after everything that he had gone through, Chase deserved time to get used to his new mother and his new life, without have to worry about someone like him.
But, now was the perfect time to work through all of that. Knowing that, he figured that it was probably best if he tried to think of more things to say than simply “how was school?” Hopefully, before the day was out, and all this became awkward, he could think of something.
>> "It's good, I mean, there are some... uh... kids there my age. Mutant kids. So that's nice. And I'm learning a lot."
Jorge nodded as he drove into the streets of New York and started his day of errands with the young mutant in tow. It actually warmed his heart to know that Chase was thriving so well with Gemma and at the mansion. He had figured that if there was any place that could help the young boy with both his education and to feel accepted, it was Xavier’s. The boy deserved that much of a chance.
“That’s good, I’m glad to hear that,” Jorge said with a nod as he kept his eyes on the road. “Xavier’s will help you get a great education and all the kids there are super nice.”
He sighed. He really was not doing well with this, was he? But he pushed on.
>> "How is work? Mama says you're a detective."
Jorge blinked. Of course the kid had managed to deflect the question back to him. Though the topic was not on Chase, Jorge was glad for another topic for them to actually discuss. Chase had a vague knowledge that Jorge was a police detective, but it was obvious that he didn’t know any of the details. The detective didn’t mine chatting about that for a bit…
“Oh, work is work,” he said with a little grin. “Been a bit busy, lately, but, we’re doing all we can to catch the bad guys.” As he said this, he glanced at Chase, smirked and returned his eyes to the road. “Um, did you mother tell you exactly what I do as a police detective?”
He wondered if Chase knew that he worked in the mutant division. He also wondered if Gemma had ever revealed to the boy that he himself was a mutant as well…

Jorge
The detective had gone back to looking at his own target. He wanted to simply let the man continue on with whatever it was he needed to do without paying him any more attention. But that quickly proved to be impossible. As he stood back, he caught the man walking up to the decimated target and set about replacing it with a pair of new ones. For whatever reason, Jorge simply took the time to eye the man. He certainly seemed like a gun enthusiast.
The next magazine loaded, Jorge slipped the gun back into its holster as he crossed his arms over his chest. For whatever reason he had interest in this man. Hell, he had just seen him blow the entire center out of a target and now there were two up. He could only wonder what he was up to now.
It didn’t take long for the detective to find out.
Before long the man had turned and fired again. Bullets from both guns found their homes within those targets. He was surprised by the sound of one of those guns. Though, being a detective, he’d run into all sorts of firearms, at this moment he simply had not been prepared for the loud blast that had come from one of the guns the man held. A glance over and he nodded, yup. That definitely had to have come from that cannon.
But still, the man had the damn accuracy of a surgeon. He strolled away, back to the stands once he was done and Jorge had to admit he was impressed. Once the field was clear, though, Jorge returned to his own target, took a breath and drew his glock 19 as he once again took on the familiar pose.
He squeezed and steadily unloaded another fully magazine into the target until the very center of it was eaten away to nothing. It was time to switch targets…

Jorge sighed as he stared across at the target with the grouping of shots in the very center. He had to admit that he was a little surprised with himself that he had managed to get the grouping he did. After all, it had been a piece since he had actively practiced and while on the job he relied more on his mutation if anything. After all, a surge of water was less liable to get the man trouble than a gunshot wound. But that was just his opinion.
Still though, it was good to know that his skills were not as rusty as all that. But the detective was a skilled marksman so he doubted he could easily lose any of his talents. When he was in the academy, he always had high marks in his marksmanship training. It was a conscious choice on his part. He knew that when the situation arose and he had to use his gun, he wanted to make damn sure his aim was going to true. Too many times people got hurt or died because of someone who did not take the time to learn to shot properly, to aim and make their shot count.
He had already lost someone due to accident. And he was not going to be the one to force someone else to go through that as well.
After he set the empty magazine aside, Jorge began to ready the next one when he heard a voice call out from down the way…
>> "Anyone mind if I advance on my target?"
Jorge heard a few mumbles from the rest of the people gathered. It was then that he noticed the man that had stepped out onto the dirt. He was of average height but he had a strength about him that Jorge simply had to respect. As he looked in his direction inquiringly, Jorge simply nodded his head to give him the go ahead.
So that was the guy with the excellent aim. He looked younger, but the detective was respectful of the talent the man already displayed. With that last thought, though, he turned back to his own target.

Jorge sighed as he looked over at Chase. He had a feeling that this was going to be a rather interesting day. It was not that he did not want to spend time with the boy, Chase was a good kid. It was simply that Jorge had never really been this close to a kid in a long time. Not in a spatial sense, obviously not. But in an emotional sense. Jorge had never had kids of his own and, right now, Chase was probably considered the closest he had every gotten to actually having a son. Not that he had asked Gemma to marry him or anything, but if he did, that would make Chase his son. Assuming Gemma said yes…
Okay…his train of thoughts did a complete sidetrack and he shook himself back to reality as he turned his attentions back to Chase.
>> “Sure…Mama and I run errands all the time.”
Jorge nodded with approval. “Okay! Then…I think…we have a plan.” he said with a grin.
Patting his pocket to make sure that he had his keys, his wallet, and whatever else he needed. Once that was confirmed he led the way to the staircase that lead down to the ground floor of his building. Though he wished that there was an easier way for them to actually just jump into conversation, Jorge just didn’t know how to go about it. He knew that Chase was thriving with Gemma, he had friends at school, and that he was a good kid. But…how to turn any of that into conversations that would last the day.
The last thing he wanted was for there to be an everlasting silence between the two of them. The least he could was try, right?
Once they stepped out into the daylight, Jorge spied his black, ’67 Chevy Impala and skirted Chase towards it. Silently he unlocked the door for Chase before he moved around the car to slip in through the driver’s side. As he did, he glanced over to make sure that Chase was buckled in, the door was locked, and then he turned his attention back to himself. The same safety precautions taken, he glanced over at Chase with a smile.
“So,” he started as he turned the ignition on his car. “Um…how’s school going for you?”

Jorge sighed as he slipped his glock 19 into the holster attached to his belt. One breath followed another as he attempted to bolster his focus and drown out the rest of the world around him. Quietly he slipped on his safety glasses, as well as placed a pair of earplugs in his ears. As he did so, all fears melted away, thoughts about work, about the X-Men, they all vanished as he pared down his attention so that it was squarely on the moment; him, a target, and his gun. Gently he cracked his neck to the side to ease that tension as he moved into a weaver stance, as he opened his eyes and eyed the target ahead of him.
But even as the detective watched the target and slowly prepared himself, he could not help but hear some of the gunshots echo through the layer of the plugs in his ears. He had to admit that it was quite a loud gun. Shot after shot rang out and Jorge, curious, glanced down the rest of the range. It was there that he spied it, the target that now had its center completely eaten away by bullets.
“Impressive,” he mumbled to himself before he turned back to his own target.
Standing comfortably, Jorge eyed the target closely as he began to count down in the back of his mind, reading himself to test his own skills.
3…2…1…
In a flash the detective move. Slipping subconsciously into the weaver stance, Jorge pulled the firearm from its holster and raised it up, the barrel aimed directly at the target. With each squeeze of the trigger, a round fired and decimated a spot on the target. Over and over again bullets flew, straight and true while the detective did not waver in his position. Once the last round was fired, Jorge carefully moved his finger away from the trigger and glanced down the range.
A nice grouping in the center of the bullseye. He nodded as he prepared to load the next magazine…

>> "Don't worry about it. I do this kind of thing all the time man. Besides if it hurt I wouldn't make things like arrows and shoot them long distances."
Jorge nodded approvingly. He really did not like for people to put their lives on the line, needlessly. But he had to admit that Shawn had a point. He saw that arrow with his own eyes but he really did not know the mechanics of the X-man’s powers. Who knew what toll producing that kind of silver would have on his body. But Shawn seemed pretty self-assured that he could do this without harm so that was good enough for the detective.
Continuing on towards the village, the officer watched in wonderment as he stared at these simply people. It was odd, to watch people from this time and compare it to the world from whence you came. He really did not even know how to begin thinking about this. These people, they seemed so stalwart with their duties. They worked, hard, he could tell by the smudges of dirt and the sweat upon their brows.
It was apparently that same thought, though, that started Shawn up again.
>> "Do you think... Sanitarily speaking...that getting clothes from a person out here would be detrimental to our health or would it not matter. I mean say we're transported back into our time wearing their clothes. Didn't they have diseases that current society has completely wiped out? What if we accidentally reintroduce a virus to modern man. Something no one has seen in a hundred years or more, I'd say that would be a bad thing. Just a thought."
The detective smirked but he said nothing at first. He did have a point, but Jorge wondered if maybe just a small part of the young man was being just a tad paranoid. Obviously, they didn’t want to bring back the bubonic plague or anything back to modern times so they were going to have to be extra careful. Maybe they could stow away their clothes until they managed to find a way out? Even if, weren’t they already exposing themselves simply by walking around as they already have been?
Jorge would have stated that point to Shawn but before he could, he watched as small entourage began to make its way down the dirt path. Along with a man on horseback, dress in the finery of chainmail, there were several guards that walked along with him. A pair carried what Jorge would only identify as pikes, and the other two carried swords at their hips.
He definitely did not like the looks of that.
But before he could turn and usher both himself and Shawn into the safety of hiding, one of the guards had turned at exactly the right moment. Instantly he lowered his pike aimed the point directly at the both of them.
“Halt!” he screamed. Instantly the rest of the troop also paused and turned their attentions. Weapons raised the group suspiciously began to advance…

((OOC: Sorry for the wait, Ranger. Hope this is okay, especially since I know nothing about guns! ))
Detective Jorge Cervantes was on the road to the outskirts of New York City. Driving in his black, ’67 Chevy Impala, the officer sighed as he kept glance at the road signs, looking for his correct exit. Dark brown eyes hidden behind his glasses, the man mumbled along with a tones and beats of the song that poured out from the speakers. It filled the interior of the car with a joyous sound that the detective could not help but grin to. This was the music his youth, tied to the good memories that made him the man he was today. They didn’t make music like this anymore.
Peering out the window, the man finally found his exit and turned. He was on a mission today. He had been trying to clock in time to work on his marksmanship back at a precinct range, but he found himself either too busy or always going when there were too many people. Quite frankly, the detective preferred peace and quiet when it came to his training, not the riotous jokesters of his precinct.
So, after some careful day planning, Jorge found the time to go to his favorite range…Straight Shooters Pistol and Rifle Range. It was his secret from the precinct since the last thing he wanted was to run into the guys at this place. He hoped he could get in some good shooting. It felt like it had been far too long since he worked out on his aim.
After he pulled up to the range, Jorge removed his gun case from his trunk and casually made his way to small building where he was pay for his time and targets. The sounds of gunfire echoed from the range and he sighed a little; it felt good to come back.
Once money had exchanged hands, Jorge moved on to the range. He passed another person or two, but the majority of them seemed happy to content themselves with their own firing. Once he was settled, target set-up, Jorge placed his case on the counter and pulled out his police issue glock 19. Also in the case were a pair of magazines, each housing their fifteen count, 9mm rounds.
Letting out a slow, breath, Jorge closed out the rest of the world as he set loading his first magazine and eyed the target that was stood 50 yards away. The detective was a damn good marksman and it was not a talent he wanted (or could allow) let slip into obscurity.

>> "I don't like the idea any more than you do but it looks like our only option besides being arrested on the spot for looking weird."
Jorge nodded. Again, it was not ideal, but they needed to get some clothes so that they would not stand out too much. It was bad enough that they were going to stand out because of their mannerisms and their confusion, but they didn’t need an instant target on their backs because of their clothing. It was already proven once to be a rather large attention grabber. They couldn’t afford for that to happen in a large village or in front of knights.
Knights!? Was he really thinking this now? It didn’t matter what he was thinking, unfortunately, it was really happening! He sighed as he continued to trudge on alongside Shawn. He really wanted a very large drink right now. Hopefully there was a bar, or maybe he should say “tavern”, around…
>> "Hey, do you think those guards on the ramparts can see us? Do you think we'll get stopped sooner than the gate?"
Jorge glanced up. He had been so enraptured in his own thoughts that he had not even thought about that. Looking up at the castle that loomed ahead of them, he could clearly see the motions of armor clad men marching back and forth. And if he could see them, more than likely they could be spotted as well. Their clothing, though not ostentatious by their time’s standards at all, would easily be noticeable; especially if these people were guards on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary.
>> "Hey, what about my silver. I can separate it from me and we might be able to use it to buy clothes. I've never tried it before but it might work. And lets face it... In this day and age I'm like a walking bank."
Jorge paused as he glanced to Shawn. He thought for a moment and he had to admit that that was a pretty good plan. Not that he wanted to used the boy for money, but it would help them blend in better he didn’t see why not.
He nodded approving at that course of action.
“So long as you think you can do it, like, you know, you won’t get hurt or something.” Jorge agreed. “But that sounds like a plan.”
They continued on and as they skirted off to the side, getting closer to the village, Jorge had to take a moment to breath in the beauty of it. It was so simplistic, the homes, the people who wandered about to complete tasks. He felt so like his entire reality was shaken down to his core, but he didn’t have time to dwell on it.
He sighed. “Well, I guess we can just ask someone who looks to be out sizes if they want to trade their clothes for silver. I doubt they have any medieval Gaps around here.”
