The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Reality? After the past few days... was it longer? It seemed like an eternity. Either way, it was a bit much to hope for. Still...
Iris looked around again. There was a tray on the table next to the bed, and on it were several... needles.... She grimaced, but reached out and touched one that looked empty. Or rather, she stabbed herself with it. The resulting pain caused her to jump and gasp. That sure felt real! And that meant....
It was like someone turned on a faucet. Tears began flowing down her face, and she started to shake. She wasn't one to wail or sob loudly, but there was no doubt she was crying her heart out. She hugged Nika as hard as possible, just to reassure herself that the catgirl wasn't going to disappear in a flurry of sparks, like her hologram training program had a habit of doing, but fully expecting, at any moment, to wake up and realize she was still trapped in that cell.
She didn't even notice the disappearance of the new guy, nor was she aware of the appearance of another pair, until one of them groaned.
“I am gonna kill that chick that shot me with that weird dart that made me go nutso.”
“Well considering you don’t remember anything except the fact that she shot you, you nearly killed a set of girls, piercing noises and a creepy beast thing who killed a man, causing you to go into berserker mode and knock him out right after he stabbed you I think you cant Kill anyone for a while.”
<"'Berserker mode'??">
Iris looked up, wiping her eyes so she could see clearly who was talking. She didn't recognize either of the girls, which wasn't surprising. The one was beaten up pretty badly.
“Where is everyone else?”
“Still at Kp, I wasn’t exactly in my right mind at the time I knocked the freaky monster guy out something in my head made me get away from the battle, I don’t know why though.”
Iris had never found out where they were being held, so that didn't register. However, at the mention of being in 'right mind' and of the 'monster guy', her face paled noticeably. Her gaze went to Mett again, and for a brief moment, she froze.
Then, abruptly, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She tried, gently, to pull out of Nika's grasp. "I've got to get out of here! I've got to find Tricity!" Her voice held an edge of hysteria; she was near panicking again, though at least this time her mutation was under control. She made her way toward the door and threw it open, ignoring the irate demand for information from one of the new girls. She moved shakily out into the hall and toward the stairs.
Once there, she again froze in her tracks. Her eyes took in the destruction around her. She felt a breeze... a breeze, from the outside... blowing inside...
"What did this?" She didn't realize she'd spoken aloud.

"Umm alot of stuff hit you but you'll have to ask the others for spacifics, my name is Tristan. How are you feeling?"
"Like I just played chicken with a train." She didn't recognize the guy's voice, and whatever the DocProf had given her still had her thinking she was dreaming. Her answers were drowsy, and a bit grumpy. She didn't look up at first either, as her head was still pounding.
But she couldn't help it when someone's arms suddenly wrapped around her. Something tickled her nose, something furry. Reflexive she sneezed, turning her head to avoid spraying whoever it was. She blinked, trying to figure out what the white furry stuff near her face was.
"I'm so glad you're ok. I was so worried about you. I'm soo soo sorry Iris."
Iris frowned slightly. "Nika?" So that's what the fur was about. "Sorry for what?" She couldn't, for the life of her, figure out what Nika was talking about. But when Nika started crying, she returned the hug, a bit awkwardly.
"I take it you know each other." Iris looked up, finally seeing the new guy, though it was obvious she was still out of it.
"Uh huh," she replied to his comment absently.
"Uh i.. I'm new here, hell of a first day."
"Hi. That's nice."
"What happened up there?"
Iris blinked, completely confused. She glanced toward the ceiling, nearly toppling herself backwards in the process. "I dunno, but someone needs to repaint soon."
"Iris, are you ok?"
Someone else entered the room, and came over. She looked at him. "Not really," she replied rather dumbly. He looked awfully familiar. She rubbed her eyes, which required her to bend over, since Nika still had a deathgrip on her. Which resulted in another sneeze, and another pain in her head. She grimaced. "Ugh, I'm sick of headaches...." she muttered under her breath. It seemed like everytime Syn or Kaz showed up, she ended up with a headache, or worse. She sneezed again. Great. Now Nika was going to start thinking she was allergic... to her....
<"Wait... Nika??">
Iris's eyes shot open again as realization dawned on her. She looked down at the catgirl, her eyes as wide as jar lids. She looked up at the two boys. If possible her eyes grew wider as she finally recognized the one. She looked around the room, her gaze eventually settling on the girl nearby. Her emotions, obvious in her eyes to them all, went from disbelief to hope to fear and back to disbelief again. She looked back at Mett, and swallowed, her throat suddenly dry.
"Please tell me I awake..." Her voice had gone hoarse again.

(OOC: Hi guys. I'm back!)
An annoying buzz reached Iris's ears. Grumbling, she turned over and reached out to hit the snooze button. It kept buzzing. She turned off the power. Still buzzing. "Stupid clock..." She sat up and took a closer look, then pulled out the cord from the wall.
And the buzzing continued, louder now. She frowned. "What?" She poked the display, trying to figure out what was happening. Suddenly the thing came to life. It grinned evilly at her, then jumped out and attacked her, aiming to bite her hands....
Iris awoke with a gasp and sat up fast. Just as quickly she wished she hadn't done so. Her eyes shut tight, and a hand went to her temples. She moaned under her breath.

"Do you need me to help you to your room?"
"No really, I'm okay. Are you sure you are though?" She glanced at the Doc, who nodded and smiled reasurringly at her. He reminded her of a favorite grandfrther.
"Infact we can have a slumber party, just don't invite you know who."
Iris smiled slightly. She hadn't been to a slumber party since she was little; she'd always been too shy to be close to anyone. That, plus she was always trying to hide what she was. Even once she was grown, she kept to herself outside of work.
"Well, sure... I guess. Though I don't know how much of a party it would be, what with me already half-asleep. But, yeah," she nodded, "I'd like that."
As she followed Deathstar out the door, the Doc added a parting warning. "Tell that program of yours to take it slower on the training. If I see you in here too often, I will pull her plug."
Iris blushed and nodded, like a little girl being chastised, then hurried out of the room.

"Actually, I got off easy," Iris replied with a shrug. "We did a teaming session. Nika and Jason seemed to take the brunt of things." Reflexivly she scratched at her lower back; she could still feel that electric cattle prod. "I think next time I'll find someone to spot us, before going in again."
She decided it best to simply ignore Star's comment about Daria and Nika. Iris didn't like the idea that two of her friends didn't like each other, but it wasn't a problem she could solve.
A yawn left her mouth, and she flushed. "Sorry. Not used to so much stress."

"Zoo keeper really, I would of never guessed."
"No, I'm not a zookeeper. Well, actually.... um, let's just say I don't work for a zoo."
"What do you see in her or it." Iris could only assume she meant Nika and Daria. She merely shrugged and smiled.
"I guess we all have our likes and dislikes," was the neutral response.
"As long as your cat stay in one spot, I'll let him live longer than a year."
"Umm....still better warn me first."
Iris watched the girl's expression curiously, wondering why she seemed so angry. It seemed there was something else bothering her, more than simply not liking cats. "Are you going to be okay?" The question was asked of both Deathstar and the Doc.

"Let's go somewhere outside. I think we all need some fresh air."
Iris glanced at Nika and Daria, then back at Deathstar.
"Um, I think I've had enough of the outdoors for today. You two go ahead. I'll catch up in a bit." She smiled at Nika, and chuckled, remembering the outdoor setting of their session.
She remained sitting as Deathstar sat next to her, complaining about cats as the Doc closed her wound. She chuckled slightly and pulled up the sleeve on her left arm, revealing a set of long-healed scars at the top of her arm.
"If nothing else, it may teach you to duck faster next time. At least that's what I learned from fostering a lion cub for the zoo. And Nika's faster than any cat I've met." She shrugged. "Um, if you don't like cats, warn me before coming to my room then. Eb may decide to use your leg for a scratching post, and I'd like to keep her around a few more year." She was trying to joke a bit, and calm Star down.
"So why are you here?"
"We brought Nika here after a session in the Danger Room got a bit....intense.... But I think we're all fine now." She glanced up and looked around, wondering where Jason and Kesuk had disappeared to. She turned to the Doc, watching him curiously.

Iris blew a lock of her blonde hair out of her eyes, and sagged a bit. Her power faded, leaving her a tad bit dizzy. She sat down again.
She glanced at Daria, flushing slightly. Getting caught in an unauthorized trainning session by the second-in-command was embarrassing enough. Now adding keeping two friends from half-killing each other?
She shook her head. Her guardians were going to love this.....
"Um, are you both okay?" She addressed both Star and Nika, then looked at Daria. "Uh, sorry 'bout the whole ice thing. I just.... kind of.... reacted.... I hope I didn't hurt either of you."

<"Oh, not good,"> Iris thought to herself. She gave Daria a look halfway between a grimace and a cringe, unsure of what to do. She was hoping Daria could read her mind, and teleport someone away like she did the ice.

Iris's face took on a worried expression as the tension grew slightly. She knew Deathstar could be a bit rough around the edges, but Nika was new, and probably wouldn't know that. She wasn't sure about Daria. When Star asked about what had happened, she merely shrugged.
"Nothing big. Just trainning in the Danger Room. We just got a bit over--Wha!"
In a flash Nika had pounced on Deathstar. One set of claws was up and ready to come down.
Iris panicked. In reaction, her ice gem activated, and a pillar of ice appeared from the floor. It grew up and around both Nika and Deathstar, pinning them in place, well apart from each other.
"Sorry! Sorry!" She cried in typical Iris-type fasion.

Iris twitched at the sound of a door opening and closing. A loud laugh woke her fully.
"Mmm...wha? Whaddido?" She blinked and yawned, and looked around. There was another person in the room; even half-asleep Iris could sense the tension. She rubbed her eyes, and saw who it was.
"Oh, hi Star. What're you doing here so laaa.....?" she asked, her question devolving into another yawn. She glanced at Nika.

Iris shifted in her seat slightly. "Shopping's good..." she mumbled, talking in her sleep. "Jus' gotta find my credit cars..." She was actually sound asleep, but apparently just the mention of the word still got a reaction.

"Iris! Where have you been? I'm sorry I scared you. I didn't mean to."
"I...um, kinda forgot Crystal....in the hurry." Iris chuckled. "And no worries. I'm just glad you're okay.
"It's nice to meet you Daria."
"You're not interupting, it's nice to meet you too. As I was telling these guys, just try and ask an older student to monitor you in the danger room. You're not in trouble this time."
Iris flushed red comically, and managed a weak smile. "Uh, yeah, will do. Thanks." Technically she was suppose to the 'older student', but in this case age had nothing on experience, so she would be more than happy to look for help next time.
Fatigue finally set in, now that the emergency was over, and Iris was happy to just sink into a chair and listen to the girls talk. Their mutations definately interested her, but eventually the quiet talk began to take effect. Her head began nodding, and soon she was fast asleep, curled up in the chair.

Iris skidded in the hallways on her way back to the Danger Room. To her surprise, Crystal was still floating in the air in the middle of the room. When Iris ran in, the 'book' she was reading disappeared in a show of sparks. She gave Iris a bored glare.
"'bout time you remembered me. Glad to see you care."
"Yeah, yeah. Good to see you too. End program."
The hologram vanished, and Iris detached her phone from the computer, then turned and headed back to the infirmary in another headlong rush. She slid into the room, grabbing the doorframe to keep from losing her balance, and/or plowing into Jason.
"Sorry! Sorry." She blinked, confused at first upon seeing another cat-like mutant by the bedside. Then she smiled, seeing Nika was awake. A relieved sigh escaped her lips. "Wow, you had me worried! Are you okay?" Then she blushed, and managed an awkward bow toward the other girl. "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt. Um... I'm Iris." She quickly clipped her phone to her belt, then held out her hand to shake.

"Blood?? Oh.... So then, back there, you were.... bleeding?" Iris paled slightly, remembering that, at one point, he'd seemed to be covered in the silvery stuff. She cringed and looked at him in disbelief. "And that doesn't hurt you??" She had a high pain tolerence, but just the thought that he'd been bleeding that much sent a shiver up her spine. Also, suddenly she felt guilty for having snapped at him.
Nika twitched, and Iris momentarily tensed. She glanced at the doctor.
"She's fine. Simply dreaming, no doubt," he assured her. Iris nodded and sunk into a chair by the door. He stood and returned to his original seat. "However, I do have one question," he added as he opened his book and found his page. Without looking up he finished, "Which team won?"
Iris's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. "Crystal!" She was up off the seat and out the door within seconds, headed back to the Danger Room to retrieve her phone. The DocProf chuckled quietly and continued reading.
