The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He saw the cranky cracklies. He saw the snarky sparkies. He was fully prepared to make some excuse. Like that he’d seen the show while babysitting a friends daughter, or had had an ex who liked the show, and had kicked off his long-standing crush on all things Tara Strong. Or like how his friend had often toiled over the hot oven making his special family recipe, while they sat watching cartoons on lazy Saturdays. And how after a couple of brownies, the remote got really far away and changing the channel became quite the undertaking. And how this show wasn’t so bad, and hey! Even friendship could be magical. And were those ponies? Was that Tara Strong?
All of those could have been true, or none of them. At least one was. Maybe all. But he had not had to utter a single, nor a plethora, of excuses, because something happened. It was something on the same tier as the Grinch and his spontaneous heart explosion. It was a miracle. She gave in!
He felt bad for her, really. Because she’d been beaten up. But he felt pretty good about not getting kicked in the balls, so there was that.
She didn’t want to make eye contact, so he didn’t even try. He just sauntered up to her and dug into his sack of groceries. He pulled out a package of wet ones, and a package of cotton balls. Set them on the ground. Pulled out bandages. The stretchy kind, not the kind you use for a skinned knee (though he had those, too). A bottle of rubbing alcohol came next, and a bottle of water. And a candy bar. That was for him. He held it out to her, all the same.
“I’m sorry that happened to you.” Danny said quietly. “Light bitch sounds like a total bitch. Snickers?”
Whether she took it or not, Danny moved on.
“I can’t really do anything about the paint on your clothes. Here.” He handed her a handful of wet ones. “Lets start simple. Clean up some of the blood on your face. Maybe get the paint you can?”
“I have stuff you can use to clean and bandage your wounds, and I can show you what to do. Do you have any big cuts?” He asked.
Danny had completely missed World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons. He’d been too busy learning how to play guitar, and making lady friends. If he had played DND, he might have noticed the warning signs that usually accompanied a succubus. But alas, he was a fool. Much to her advantage.
When she spoke, he started for a second then looked her way. The girl who had caught his eye earlier? Ah, hell yeah!
Had she been waiting for him? How sweet! And also, sweet!
The dark purple hair and the tail were very entrancing. He was entranced, to say the least. And her eyes.
He listened to her talk, her voice smooth as a baby’s bottom... and decidedly less childish in nature than the first descriptive phrase that had popped into his head.
She had been waiting? He’d caught her attention? He turned as she walked past him, and yes, it was true. Caught red-handed. Guilty as charged. She had him looking.
It seemed, having just left the bar, he would go back in. His band mates would give him so much shot! Up until they saw the solid 10, that was. After that, they’d probably give him more. Such was the nature of friends.
“Of course I’ll buy you a drink,” Danny said smoothly. Inwardly, he was mentally fist-pumping and cheering and being anything but smooth. But on the outside, he was pretty much cool. It’s called having been part of high school drama class, ladies and gentlemen. It’s called acting.
She would love the company? “How could I possibly refuse?” He replied.
Together, they reentered the bar.
As expected, he got so much s#|+. Playful s#it, teasing sh*+, catcalls and shiz. Sh^T. Sh*T. Sh@&! He played it off, best he could.
“Quiet, ya heathens!” He laughed, waving off their comments, most of which would have made his cheeks hot if he hadn’t been acting like they did not.
To the lady, he said “They’re idiots but they’re my friends so what can you do? I like your tail!”
They got to the bar, and he got the bartenders attention, which wasn’t difficult because she had already grabbed it from across the room. He just had to turn his head to look at Danny, rather then her.
“Beer for me, and for her.” He leaned on the countertop and smiled dreamily at the lovely lady. “Anything she wants.”
Several times throughout the show, he’d noticed her. A woman with pink-red skin and a fantastic figure. Other women had caught his eye as he gyrated and swayed to the songs, but her. She had popped. It was the mysterious mutant skin tone and the movement. Yep. Definite cutie.
As the show ended, he looked for her but he didn’t see her. Danny turned his attention to helping the others get their equipment sorted out. He’d already reverted his guitar back to its pick form and stashed it in his sturdy bag.
They needed to come up with a new name. This one sucked! But at least the show had gone well.
When it was apparent to him that his mates could handle themselves and get home without any trouble, he returned his attention to looking for, well, a mate of his own. That’s terrible, Danny. You only thought that way for the sake of a joke!
Yes, he had.
Without a conscious thought behind it, Danny checked his watch.
“You guys are good here, right? Okay if I bail?”
They were. He could. He did. Danny ran a hand through his curly mane of hair as he made a lion-line (not a bee line!) for the back door.
The back door opened with a click, and Danny slipped into the alley and the cold night air.
Ugh. He really didn’t need teenage lip right now. But even if she were recalcitrant as a mule, the Hippo oath said he couldn’t refuse to help her. Even if she looked like a my little pony had a bad case of the trots and consequently exploded all over her clothes, and then she swallowed a lemon that made her face scrunch up and made her all sour.
What could she put a bandaid on? How about her mouth. Then maybe people could get some peace and quiet around here!
And she called him a creep right to his face. So annoying. And probably the worst part was, despite how mad she’d made him he was still going to offer to help her. And it was probably just a pissy mask to scare people off and help hide some sort of inner pain. Or like fake eyes on a butterfly. Or a skunk’s fart! Or maybe she was just a b-witch.
But he was still going to help her.
Danny clenched a fist.
Danny grimaced at her.
Danny cursed silently to himself. Dammit. And then, he took one calming breath and gathered his nerve.
He let it go.
“Now listen here, Twilight Sparkle. You can either take the help or not! But my sweet old Aunt Petunia had a saying. She said if someone offers you a little bit of help when you need it, out of the goodness of their heart, you’re a f$@$ing moron if you tell them to f$&@ off!”
He held the bag out to her again, insistently. And didn’t break eye contact. He wasn’t scared of her at all.
“You can either take it or not. I’ll leave if you want me to. I just want to help, dammit. There are antibacterial wipes in there. At the very least, you can clean your wounds.”
“Hey there,” he said. His voice was level, calm, aiming for nonchalant. He smiled what he hoped was a non-threatening smile. “Need any help?”
Danny stood about two to three feet behind the shuffling girl on the sidewalk. A comfortable distance. Not too close, not, like, twenty feet away. Hopefully, it wouldn’t set off creep radars. Because he had a feeling it’d set off creep radars!
On his back, a heavy-looking college backpack hung. One of those computer bag models, made for carrying your laptop or tablet alongside your books.
On his person, a black leather jacket, Rush t-shirt and blue jeans with red sneakers. Contacts, no. Glasses, yes. With black frames. He had been giving no ffffks that morning.
In his hands, he had a grocery sack. It was labeled after the store name the girl had been sitting in front of, just a few minutes earlier. He’d seen her when her gone in, for a post class snack.
He just couldn’t have left it like it was. The part of him that was studying to be a doctor or a nurse or whatever. It couldn’t stand for it. Leaving someone who looked injured and out of it alone, to fend for themselves. The Hippo oath! So, he’d gone inside to do something about it. And when he’d come out, she’d been gone!
Or at least. He’d thought she was gone, until he saw her not so far away.
Oh, he hoped hoped hoped this wasn’t coming off creepy! He had a first aid kit in the fox keychain one of his first girlfriends had given him, but he’d gone inside and bought supplies instead, just to avoid walking up like some creeper with his own personal first aid kit and being like oh ho ho, wanna play doctor? Or to give away something of sentimental value.
And was it weird he’d thought this over so hard? Because when the person looks like a teenager of the opposite sex, and you’re a college looking guy, you gotta think about the connotations. And— oh what the hell.
He held the bag out towards her and explained it all quickly. “You’re hurt. I got you band aids and stuff. I’m a med student and I just couldn’t leave you wandering around hurt and covered in blood. But you can patch yourself up. I’m not a creep!”
Had he actually said that last part out loud? And had he kind of shouted it? Uh.

Mutations
Mutation description: *Object Duality* *Duality of Body and Mind*
Danny occasionally transforms into another Danny, named Lucien. “Luc” is different than Danny. He has a different personality and a separate life. This is due to Danny having absorbed Lucien into his life with his psychic Duality power when he was a child.
Due to the nature of how they were linked, their powers were also linked. Thanks, creepy psychic baby.
In addition to having separate identities, they both have the primary mutation of Object Duality.
Danny and Luc can both create objects that express duality. Objects with duality are two objects in one. They transform between identities. This transformation is touch-based, and can be as simple as flipping a coin, or as complex as strumming a guitar.
If an object is created, either persona can access it. But only if they figure out it has duality... and how to transform it. Even then, what it becomes will likely be a wonderful surprise!
No other person can activate the transformation of items with Object Duality. It is DNA-locked. To the two men’s different sets of DNA.
—
The Jekyl and Hyde transformation happens when either Danny or Luc sneeze. Another sneeze transforms him back.
Lucien came first. Danny took over. Lucien is caught in a constant fight for control over his life!
Strengths:
Objects with Duality can be two separate things!
It is useful, if you want to smuggle something past security. Say you have a handgun. That’s obviously not gonna make it past security. But a house key? Sure that’s fine.
Objects are limited to being two separate non-living items, like a guitar pick and an acoustic guitar.
Objects cannot be larger than Lucien. About the largest item he can currently do is a shotgun/breath spray. No matchbox / car.
—
Changing between personalities and appearances can be useful, if trying to avoid the wrong kind of attention. The different personalities have different skill sets and areas of knowledge.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Each side can create about 10-15 things with Object Duality, depending on size.
The maximum amount for both sides combined is 30 objects.
He has to be able to carry them around on his person, with all the combined weight of objects. Or else he has to leave what he can’t carry behind.
The heavier object in the pairing determines the overall weight of the object. Thus, a handgun/key weighs as much as a handgun would. Bullets/tictacs weigh as much as a box of ammunition would weigh.
In order to create an object with dual natures, he needs one of each object. He combines them by touching each object simultaneously and focusing for a second or two. The end result is that one object remains, while the other one vanishes. No flashes or poofs of smoke. It’s very anticlimactic!
If objects are destroyed, or objects are out of Danny or Luciens presence for longer than a week, Duality is reversed. Objects immediately separate into their two component parts, with all the logistical problems that may entail. Broken objects are both broken. No touching required!
—
Whenever they sneeze, they transform. Clothes shift into whatever the other side was wearing the very last time they transformed (which is attributed to object duality).
Neither party has true control over their sneezes. A sneeze can come at any time. Danny has a greater ability to resist sneezes than Lucien does... since it’s linked to his part of the power.
Transforming can be a major inconvenience. A liability.
Lucien loathes Danny, and wants to avoid transforming back at all costs. But sometimes, we can’t get what we want. And sometimes, he has to manufacture ways to keep Danny living his life up until he needs to break free. The bond is a constant battle. A giant pain in the ass! Also, a secret identity. But one that stole Lucien’s life for nearly half his lifetime.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: (Strength/Speed/Reflexes/Stamina/Flexibility)
Danny is a physically fit college student who lifts weights and runs, has average boring human reflexes, and the stamina of a sex god (according to himself). Also, the flexibility.
Luc is overweight, with average physical strength, and of middling to low speed. His reflexes are good. He also has the stamina and flexibility of (you guessed it), a sex god.
Fighting Style:
Danny has no formal fight training.
Lucien knows how to use guns and other weapons. He also boxed when he was younger, though he was never very good.
Danny knows how to sing, dance, and play guitar.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons:
There are no pros to having no fighting style. It’s one big con.
Guns are dangerous, however. If Lucien has a gun, he’s a pretty dangerous guy.
Lucien knows enough about throwing and taking punches to throw and take a punch. He’s no prize fighter. Plus, he’s got a height disadvantage.
Danny can throw a punch, but has no form. He can sing and dance his way out of problems, in true bard fashion... yeah! Like that would work!
History Of Your Character
The whole mess started in ‘61, when Lucien was born. They were in the height of the Cold War. WW2 was just a couple decades in the past, and people were still recovering.
His parents were poor, but wealthy in other ways. They had him. Born to immigrant parents Giovanni and Maria, Lucien had a fairly average childhood. Nothing interesting here.
When he was 14, he realized he was falling in with the wrong people. And despite how fun that could be, at the time he wanted a better life for him and his parents. In order to accomplish that— he needed to do well in school and get a job. He asked his father to send him to boarding school.
Not only would the school help him succeed. He would be one less mouth to feed while he was away.
He did well in school, graduated. Moved on. It wasn’t until he 22 that his life really started. And that was when it got messy.
It was the 80s. Money was tight. The job he’d secured wasn’t great and he couldn’t afford a good college. He turned to gambling. Gambling led to debt. Debt led to crime. And crime was good money.
Over the years, he developed his skills. At some point, he discovered his mutation and put that to use in his jobs. It was an extra asset. He could turn a commonplace item into a shotgun, a handgun, or any other tool he needed to get the job done!
It’s been so long, he hardly remembers the exact moment he discovered he could fuse objects and give them dual natures. It was probably when he needed to hide an object of questionable legality from police during some sort of search. He wished hard enough, and got freaking lucky.
Or else the first time could have been when he tried to disarm a guy in a brawl, and fused his driving gloves with a pistol.
Maybe it was when he’d reached into his pocket to grab his car keys, but combined them with a light by mistake. If it was, he wouldn’t talk about it very much. Clumsy. Very inconvenient.
Whatever situation it was where he first activated his mutation, it was useful to him. It’d be years and years until he gained his second tier to his power. And that would be far less useful, overall.
At the time, it was useful. He was 34. It was 1994. On the run from police, in Springfield Township. In New Jersey, of all places!
The police wanted to speak with him about a recent crime he allegedly had committed. He was on the run. In the heat of the moment, he broke into the home of some couple he didn’t even know. They were immigrants, like his parents had been. And they’d just had their first child.
The kid was a mutant. Nobody knew it. His power was related to duality, very similar to Lucien’s ability. But... mental, rather than physical.
Lucien entered the room. He tried to be quiet. He just wanted to hide. To get away. He was scared. He never meant to wake the freak mutant baby up. But he did. And baby Danny’s eyes opened. His power triggered for the very first time. He was scared, too.
Their powers reached out to each other. Mingled. And— the baby sneezed. Lucien sneezed. There was a snapping sound, and Lucien was sucked into the child, mind, body, and soul. Slurrrrp.
It would be 15 years before Lucien would escape from the psychic mutant devil baby’s clutches. The escape would be brief. Just long enough to look around and take note of what had happened in the outside world.
While inside Danny, he had been blind and deaf. Functionally asleep. Hibernating. But he’d still aged. And time had moved and passed him by.
He had to make a choice. Would he live in fear, afraid of the chance he’d change back into Danny. To live with no control over his life. Or would he control his side of the bond. Let the brat live his life. And live his own life, beside the boy. Make him his tool. Use him.
He used the kid. Set up a guy who would blow fracking pepper into the kids face every few days, at a time he’d decided. He found someone loyal. Several someone’s. And during his time in control, he began his criminal career again.
Danny lived his life. Went through school, unaware of Lucien. Lucien worked. When he was 17, he discovered his Object Duality power, which was pretty neat! He mainly used it to make his guitar more portable, and always have a pen handy!
Danny graduated high school, and took a few years off to travel and work on himself. And then, he moved to New York and started working until he had enough to go to college at 24.
Meanwhile in New York, Lucien had started making connections. And so many plans.
Roleplay What’s your OOC alias?: Mugen Where did you learn about this site?: I cannot remember. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Shin, Lenna, Ashton, Elliott, and Amelia. Sample RP:
The gig had gone well. He’d sang his heart out, danced his ass off, and all the honeys had swooned like he was Mick Jagger.
His band was doing great! He was so proud of them! The new drummer had skills, and the bassist... well. They could always find a new bassist.
The bar patrons had really seemed like they had enjoyed the show.
Danny was going over every number in his mind as he went backstage. Everyone was packing things up. He’d already packed up his guitar / pick. Just a snap of his fingers, and his electric guitar had changed into a red guitar pick. Which he had promptly stashed with his other picks. They’d pack up the amp and other equipment. As for him—
“I’ll see you all on Tuesday at the garage! Love you, babies! Ciao!” Danny sang as he went out the back.
Everyone glanced at him and said later. As band leader, he had certain privileges and one was being able to just walk out. The crew could pack it all up. Or whatever. The band was still a new thing for him. He hoped that was how it worked! Because if not, he’d be pissing a whole lot of people off~
—
The alley behind the bar was cold. Slam, went the metal door. And—
Someone rushed by and blew pepper in his face.
He couldn’t help it. He sneezed.
—
Lucien took over. His leather jacket and pants shifted to a black pinstriped suit and slacks. His lithe figure shrunk and grew, so that he was shorter and wider. His curly mane of brown hair thinned and shifted until it was mainly two hunks on either side of a balding middle. Facial structure, changed! Everything else, changed.
Lucien smiled. Checked his watch. “Right on time.” He had places to be and just the right amount of time to get there. The guy he’d hired had come through!
He nodded to the guy. The guy nodded back. Transaction, accomplished! He passed him a 20.
A minute later, the heavyset short man walked out of the alley, towards their beat up old blue Beetle. It was a hunk a junk, but it was reliable! And it’d get him to the gang.
He started it up, and pulled into traffic. Out of the way, idiots. He had a bank job to plan!
