The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lenna sat at the table, a pair of folders with papers set neatly ahead of her.
She'd already clued the woman in to the time, the date, and the place.
She was dressed in much the same outfit as she had been the day she'd met Syn (officially). Black pencil skirt, red turtleneck long-sleeved shirt. She wore two emerald bar earrings, one on each ear. Her hair was cut in a smart bob.
"Please, have a seat," She said, gesturing to the nearest seat at the table. "Can I get you something to drink? Water? Soda? Coffee?" There was much to talk about, and it wouldn't do for anyone to be thirsty. She was thinking about having tea, herself.
The time had finely come for Syn to speak officially with at least one of the current leaders of her beloved Order. She made sure to be at the designated place and how fitting for it to be the War Room. Lots of wonderful plans had been discussed in this secluded location.
Entering the room Syn noted Lenna already seated and prepared for the meeting. How nice. Syn sat down and almost questioned the politeness coming from the other woman, but instead decided to let it go. “Water will be fine thank you. So where do we begin?”
Lenna buzzed Lisa and made a quick request. "Two waters, please." That accomplished, she turned her focus to answering Syn's questions.
"Why don't you tell me what you've heard about so far," She replied with a small smile. "If there are any places that need clarifying, I can fill you in."
The secretary entered a moment later, handing both ladies their own personal bottle of water. Then, she left.
Syn leaned back in the chair and looked around the War Room to see how or if anything had changed while responding back to Lenna. “I’ve heard about M. I’ve heard about Mondragon Labs as well as Faust Pharmaceuticals. I’ve also learned about some of the new Order members.” Just then Lisa brought in the waters and Syn smiled a thank you to the woman.
"Yes, but what have you heard?" She folded her hands in front of her.
She was curious to hear the specifics as Syn related them. It interested her for many reasons, first and foremost being Syn's spin on things.
To clarify, she added "What's your take on everything you've heard?" How does that make you feel? So very psychiatrist. There had better no be any rubber ducks.
“I’ve heard that M has replaced Haywire as The Order’s new toy. It gives humans mutant abilities for a time by giving them an x-gene. Most can’t control it at first, but the more they use it the more they get used to such power. At the same time the more they use it the more the drug ruins their genetic code. Yet they keep coming back for more. As for Mondragon Labs I haven’t heard any specifics on what’s going on there other than the fact that we now control it.” Syn took a sip of her water before continuing. “In regards to Faust Pharmaceuticals I know it’s a rebuilt version of the old King building and drug testing is going on there.” She looked back to Lenna. “So what have I missed?”
Well, she hadn't put any spins on anything, or given her 'take'. She'd missed a few things, too. And she'd been half-right in many places.
"Actually," She smiled. "I own Mondragon. We aren't currently doing anything Order-Related there, that I know of. Right now, the Order is mainly working on expanding its control of the city. We're working on gaining power with our M-trade. Infiltrating other trades too, if that goes well. And we're also racketeering, getting 'protection money' from the humans in our area. Some figure they owe it."
She didn't detail anything about her own connections, outside of the city. That, she'd save her sharing when the mood struck her. Columbia was mainly her Mad Money, anyway.
"Basically, the current Order goal it to increase our control over New York. Make things better for mutants and ourselves."
If they could get political sway, all the better. And they had at one point talked about that, with some woman who was basically ninja. Getting information people didn't want to share.
"I see. So in other words the Order is currently like the Mob." This wasn't how Syn nor Oppressor had envisioned the Order and deep down it didn't set well with the dark lady though she refrained from letting it show. Syn returned to Lenna's statement regarding Mondragon Labs. "You own it but you aren't sure if anything Order related is going on there? Tsk tsk my dear Lenna."
Syn took a sip of her water and thought about the woman's last remark. "I too am working on gaining more control to make things better for us and other mutants."
'Like the mob', she'd said without any distaste. Yet somehow, the presence of those words at all had signaled the emotion to the blond. The tsk tsk cemented her opinion on it. Lenna did not like being talked down to. Condescension bothered her. In this case, not enough to show the second it cropped up. She kept up the smile, but decided they would need to talk about that once Syn had finished speaking. They were both strong ladies with large egos. It wouldn't do for them to come in conflict over it. Seemed counterproductive. She let Syn wrap up, then commented. "Just for clarification. Mondragon is separate from the Order. I let the scientists there work on things and earn us money at their own pace. If anyone is doing anything Order-Related there, and I don't know about it..." She let the dangerous smile on her face and the subtly arched eyebrow finish the comment. Something would get done. "So, please. No 'tsk tsk'. It's not warranted." It wasn't as if she was out of touch and unawares of her own facilities. She was a drug lord in two countries, for goodness sake. Although maybe 'goodness' hadn't been the word of choice in that thought statement.
She picked up where she'd left off in her dialogue. "As for being like the mob, please. Let's be civilized here. Mobs fight amongst themselves. They quarrel over power, and sometimes innocents get hurt. I'm looking to do something more profitable."
Syn smirked at Lenna’s response; she had gotten under the other woman’s skin. Doing such a thing always pleased Syn. She prided herself on getting reactions from others even just using her words. Lenna’s reply had confirmed such an act.
With Lenna’s explanation regarding the Labs Syn left it to a simple reply. “Very well.” Though she had a feeling better things could be done with the facility. She then refocused on the Mob subject. “Mobs only fight amongst themselves when they encroach each other’s territory or if one notices an opportunity to advance it’s self at another’s expense. While I do agree they seek power wherever they can find it the fact that innocents get hurt is sometimes unavoidable. However, if those innocents are humans then why should we care?”
Syn took up a more direct posture towards Lenna. "I'd like to hear what you know about me."
To reply to her comment on 'mobs', Lenna noted. "If one could control how they respond. If one could make it more profitable to maintain the status quo... one could control who and how many people got hurt. Yes, some might get hurt. But they certainly wouldn't be innocents, if the Order controlled it. And we could protect the Order's interests." Mutant, or other. "As you said, if the innocents are human, you'd care less. Keeping mutants safe could go hand-in-hand with my aims."
"As for what I know about you..." Lenna said. "I know of your family ties Abyss, Mars, and the rest. I know that you assumed control after the previous Order Leader mysteriously disappeared. That under your leadership, the Order became a more cohesive pro-mutant force. During the Registration Act, you worked alongside the resistance, and helped overturn the law." She went on for another minute, describing the events that led up to today. She repeated what she'd heard from Lori, Lisa, and her other sources. Everything that had led to her calling Syn in to speak. Then, she gave Syn a chance to respond.
Syn listened to what Lenna said. When the woman shared her knowledge of the dark woman, Syn smiled noticeably. When she was in charge the Order truly let the world know where it stood and what it was capable of. Now it was trying to expand its influence over more areas, and the former leader had a new ace up her sleeve. One that she would show Lenna and Lori, but first she wanted to see where she would stand with everything.
“What exactly are you looking for with me and this little meeting?”
Lenna returned the smile, fake, of course, and replied seriously. "I feel like there have been some talks going on in the dark, about who is in charge, and who should be taken seriously. An Order divided doesn't seem to me a very strong one. Rather than fight like dogs over who gets to sit on the fancy seat, we could find a way to work together. I want you on my team, rather than plotting to replace me. I'm planning to include your brothers in my ranks, as well. I want everyone on the same page."
A consolidation of forces was her aim. That was why she'd called Syn in that day. It was the start of something bigger in her mind. Hopefully, the results were as grand as her aim.
A slightly raised eyebrow and a subtle nod added to the ‘oh really?!’ expression on Syn’s face. There might not have been too much talking, but there were definitely some thoughts on having Lenna replaced. Granted most of those thoughts were from the goth princess as she had yet to see Lenna’s Leadership put into action.
“You want my brothers and I on your team?” Syn took a sip of water. “My dear Lenna. While my brothers might be fine with being ‘in your ranks’ I am not the grunt soldier type as you already know from my past. Perhaps a little clarification on your part about this idea?”
"Definitely," She agreed. A clarification was obviously needed here. "I've seen your brothers in action, Mars especially, and many of them have great minds on their big red shoulders. I would never consider them, or you, grunts. I want you thinking, not grunting. What I am aiming for is less a pyramid, more a web, with people at all points contributing to the solidarity of the structure. You see, on a web, every part of it is important. Every part contributes. The spider merely helps maintain the web to see to it that it stays in working order. Sure, without the spider, the web would fall apart. But without the web, the spider would have no place to sit." She looked Syn confidently in the eye. "I'm not saying I need to sit on you. I'm saying I want to work alongside you and your brothers, to help the Order stay whole, so that it doesn't tumble in upon itself like a web with broken strands."
They were important, was what she was saying. And not less important than her.
