The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Okay. So this was pretty bad, maybe the worst she’d been involved in to date. The drive hadn’t taken long, not with her behind the wheel, and for some reason the New York traffic had cooperated. Maybe the radio stations were on the case, and people knew that the mutant on a rampage meant business…whatever it was, the trip to 23rd took far less time than it might have under less favorable circumstances.
As they approached, the scene came into sharper focus and Quin inwardly winced at all of the bodies on the ground. The figure was dressed as some kind of psycho clown, and it was all Quin could do not to groan. It couldn’t just be someone angry with the establishment, or even a terrorist. Psychos were the worst. They didn’t play by any rules. There was also the fact that they were by a school, a school that was currently on lockdown.
They approached, and the clown did some sort of weird leaping volleyball fire launch at the car. Fricken figured.
A voice from the passenger seat urged her to move, but Quin was already slamming her foot on the brakes and jerking the wheel to the left. ”On it.” she hissed through gritted teeth as the car careened to one side, the back end swinging around just in time to miss the ball of fire that hurtled past.
The car stopped, facing the opposite direction and in a matter of seconds Quin was out of her seatbelt and out of the car, snapping ”Get under cover!” as she scurried around the open door for protection and drew her gun.
”NYPD! Put your hands where I can see them and get on the ground on your knees! She shouted.”
The only response was a mad cackle of laughter and another symphony of ringing bells.
”Why does it always have to be circus freaks?” Officer Archer muttered as she reached for her shoulder radio.
"Dispatch, we've got multiple officer's down. Not sure about their status. Requesting backup as soon as possible. Perp is heavily armed and extremely dangerous. What's the status on that school?"
The voice responded immediately, relaying information and Quin closed her eyes as another fireball flew past, igniting a car a little ways down the street. "You over there rookie?"

Obliging wasn't hard. Moving out of the car, drawing up a shield of triangles, and making for a safe spot behind a vehicle where he could regroup and they could plot their next course of action all came quickly enough. That move with the spinny car and the whoosh screech phwoosh had been intense, though. His heart was pounding in his throat. Doing all of that was all he could do that moment. It would have to be enough.
Good thing Officer Archer was on the case, shouting orders, to which the Kefka-wannabe only laughed. Okay. Maybe 'on the case' had been an overstatement.
He regrouped. Legs still worked. The shield was still there, like a triangle, point aimed towards the pavement, yellow and cool, like something straight out of some comic book. He wasn't cowering, nope. He was an X-man AND a cop. He wasn't hesitating for a second.
He heard mention of a school. They needed to handle this. And fast. Kids in danger was not a good thing. Kids scared was almost as bad. He didn't want worse.
Someone, however, wanted worse. Silly people. Dodging his attacks. They would pay. THEY WOULD ALL PAY. Especially the laundromat. They would pay especially hard for the costumes they had ruined. He wanted his money back. He wanted his time. And more than anything, he wanted none to snicker at his pantaloons and he wanted blood! So he lit another car on fire and not a person! So what? He could hit people too. In fact--
>>"You over there rookie?"
The Asian moved like a body guard in a good movie. Up and away. In front of her. His shield was at his back. Fire impacted upon it as he guarded them both. It blocked the damage, but it did not block the heat.
"Witty one-liner goes here. I've learned from the comic book villains," the clown sneered as he stepped towards the shielded ones. "Never give your enemy a heads up."

Damn! That fire was hot. Quin had been expecting the shot, but she hadn't been sure what to do about it when it had actually been flying towards her face. The door wasn't going to be enough, and she'd just decided that rolling was her only shot when the rooking leapt in front of her.
Yeah, she'd wanted him to impress her, she'd wanted him to do something so she didn't have to go on hating him like she was...but she hadn't expected him to get himself killed! Up she looked, raising an arm to her face as the fireball made contact. The heat was intense...really intense...then it faded.
The redhead lowered her arm....and they were both still alive.
"Neat trick." she said, eyes falling on the shield he'd made from...something.

A ragged breath escaped him as the Asian dropped to one knee. Yeah. He'd feel that later. But he was alive.
"Whatever you do, don't touch it." He said, eyes to the ground. "Anything else." The clown danced the macarena. "Is fine."
Forcing himself up off the ground, the triangle mutant turned, eyes focusing on the clown. He instantly straightened up as he felt their eyes on him.
"Oh. Done with your little chit chat, are you? Well, I wasn't having fun doing that anyways." He paused to stroke his chin. "And I thought I was slowly advancing towards you, juggling a fireball in my hand a moment ago. I must have forgot. Interesting. Oh well." HE WOULD SIMPLY MAKE ANOTHER ONE! HA! And make one, he did.
The Asian willed the shield to fly at him like a big hot thingy. He didn't care enough to give it a clever name.

Apparently those things were heat conductive. Quin reached out with her power, trying to test the material and see if she could do anything with it. Nope, she decided quickly, these weren't made of anything synthetic.
Shinbo (he got the name upgrade because he'd saved her ass) spoke again and Quin nodded her head as the...thing....started to move forward. This was perfect cover.
"Time to go!" she said, moving fearlessly in the shield's wake. There wasn't time to be scared, there were kids around, and cars on fire...where the hell did the city find these psychos anyway?
Closer now, Quin called out one more chance, "This is your last warning. Get face down on the ground with your hands on the back of your head or I will shoot you." The prospect would have been chilling to civilian Quin, but now was the time for business. The...thingy seemed to have her protected from the fire, but there were still officers down.
"NOW!" she said, ready to pop over the shield and fire if the clown made another move.

"And I, will fireball you," he chuckled, inserting unnecessary commas into his dialogue with a masterful air. A big shield only meant a bigger fireball was required to top it. And he had many aces up his-- oh gosh. Where had his sleeve gone? And his clothes!?
The clown covered himself up suddenly, preserving his shame.
A rough chuckle floated behind him. The clown spun his head in its direction, eyes locking on the figure floating there from a glowing orange ball. He was dangling like a kid from a balloon, holding onto the bottom of the bubble. He was tall, rugged, with manly stubble, and if the clown were to have given him any further descriptions on the record and not held to them in front of his villainous peers... he might have said those goggles on his head looked DAMN COOL. A small boy (also wearing goggles) dangled from a jacket scruff in the man's grip. It was to this boy that the clown turned his glower.
The boy had orangish skin like the bubble balloon, and he lacked a nose. He wore a flight cap, and... he was obviously a mutant.
The duo landed, then the goggleheaded man set the boy down with a professional smile. He nudged his back. "Run along now, Raz Jr. Daddy's working. Sorry," he addressed the clown. "I was picking my son up from school and couldn't help but notice you causing trouble over here on my way to work... you won't be getting your clothes back, by the way. Jr.'s Godmoding Grip doesn't take prisoners. Oh. Hello there." He suddenly noticed the redhead and the shield. "I've got this pretty much under control."

What. The. Hell?
The clown was naked now, and chuckling, and probably planning to nuke them from the face of the planet. Quin had her gun drawn and her finger was putting about half as much pressure on the trigger as was necessary to shoot when... When.....
When some idiot with his kid came floating down from the sky.
Quin just gaped. There was nothing else to do as the guy sent his kid off and started talking to the clown about clothes. Then he turned and told her that he had everything under control.
"What" she said, glancing around at all the destruction. There were still officers down and there were still sirens racing to the scene.
"No...no. That...that...clown is going is going downtown in cuffs."
Over she looked at her makeshift partner. "Is that guy for real?"

"I'm definitely real," Raz confirmed. Casually, he walked up and tore the clown's hands behind his back. "And I agree. He's going down town. Shinbo. Can you censor this?"
The cuffs locked. The clown hissed.
"If you arrest me!" He proclaimed. "You will never find the body!"
"Interesting. Now which body would that be? And care to put that in writing?"
Shin blinked. Then realization dawned. Who on the Force would know about his power already? And be willing to use it so correctly already? The shards censored the clown as Shin tilted his head at the gogglehead. "Officer. Raz? And, wait. Body?" He turned towards the now-censored clown.

Officer Raz?
Well dammit. "I'll let you take it from here then."
Quin sighed as Raz pulled the clown's hands behind his back and cuffed him. A moment later, her gun was holstered and she was watching as the Asian kid made a censor bar out of his mind triangles.
Hell of a day. The clown crooned something about a body, and Quin rolled her eyes at the rookie.
"They always say that..." she said, moving from her crouch and starting to check the guys on the ground. Most of them would need the ambulances that were on their way.

Quin was bending to check one of the downed officers, when the clown spoke again.
There was just something about the way the guy said it, maybe it was the nonchalance or the familiarity of the name, but instantly Officer Archer believed what the guy was saying.
It all made too much sense. Ashton hadn't been at the 18th this morning, and she hadn't heard a word from him all day. She'd been too wrapped up in the rookie to notice that anything was really wrong.
Dammit. Dammit dammit dammit.
Slowly, she straightened and walked towards the clown. Man she wanted to punch him in the face...but she knew that was assault.
"Talk. Now." she said, the look on her face daring him to do anything else.

Red lips pursed, then stretched too widely. A dark chuckle built in the man's throat. In a warehouse, somewhere dark and cliche, something tight and brown squeezed. A head rolled forward, bloodied, bruised, and sweaty. Brown hair clung to his forehead. If it hadn't been for the odd position, he could have been sleeping.
"Psycho knot, this," a voice muttered.
More squeezing. Not that anyone could feel it. Anyone conscious, that was. He'd already knocked the poor officer out. No spilling yet, though. A shame.
A shame. No spilling, yet.
Raz glanced away in disgust. "We'll have to bring him downtown." They'd have better luck, then. Although it looked like the red head wouldn't like the wait. The Asian wasn't looking too happy, either.

The clown wasn't going to talk, and for a second, Quin considered actually hitting the man in the face. If nothing else, it would make her feel better. The problem with that, like she'd thought before, was that technically it would be assault. An assault charge was an easy way for a punk like this to get off on a technicality and back onto the streets.
This was BS. Pure and simple. The ride back to the precinct wasn't fun, not at all.
An idea started to form though, and Quin cast a thoughtful look in the Asian's direction as she tried to work things out. Could he work on the fly? Play along? Improvise? They'd see.
Minutes stretched like hours as they processed the clown and, more importantly, got him some pants. Then they were in the interrogation room, and Quin put her plan into action, turning to Shin.
"This one is probably right up the X-Men's alley, isn't it? We'll transfer him after we finish here." she said, wondering if the clown knew more about the X's than she did. It was a possibility, considering the fact that Quin avoided them as much as possible.
"Don't you guys have a mutant who can dig around in brains?" she continued, hoping that the rookie would pick up the thread and run with it. Physical violence was against the rules, but threats were fair game.
Up she looked at Raz.
"We can't use that guy at the station because things get a little messy, but since we don't exactly have control over the X-Squad, they get a little wiggle room." Her heart was beating fast and heavy in her chest, and Quin was sweating bullets. Why was she such a terrible liar?
This was important though. They couldn't play around. If the guy's partner really had Ashton...the clock was ticking.

The X-men? That was an eye-raising statement. So he raised one. An interesting suggestion, but was it a good one? The X-men weren't quite equipped to hold prisoners... or maybe they were, and he just didn't want to, because the mansion held kids and that was a bad idea. Her next statement cleared things up for him, and made him glad he hadn't said anything to answer the first. The woman continued her train, right up to Raz, and the man opened his mouth. That's when Shin stepped in, arms crossed, smirk held proud.
"Actually," He interrupted Raz. "I have some experience working with empathy."
"Empathy?" Raz asked, glancing towards the clown.
Shin nodded succinctly. "Reading emotions. Like right now, I can tell you're afraid," He kept his focus turned on the clown. The clown glanced off with a derisive laugh.
"Afraid? Afraid not, friend. Not of any of you. I'm crazy, remember? I don't have enough sense to be afraid of you. And that cop guy's situation probably has you all grasping at--"
"Oh," Shin said, faking shock, a 'taken-aback' hand over his mouth. He pointed at his chin. "You weren't afraid of us. Then..." He looked up towards the ceiling. "Just how much trouble will you be in with your buddy if you spill. And you know you will. I see it on your face."
He was bluffing. But he'd been with Kealey for, what, several years now? He didn't want to stop to tally them up in his head.
The clown laughed. His makeup was running a little, though. White face paint, growing pale. Or was that his flesh beneath the makeup mask?
"You? Make ME talk? Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I'm perfectly sane," he smiled a smile that mad Raz want to smile fiercely back. Which he did. "Maybe you're the crazy ones."
"Definitely fear," The Asian turned towards the redhead. "He thinks we've got nothing and can do nothing to make him talk." He laughed at the clown. "Good one, really."

Thankfully the Asian caught on. Quin had to give him some brownie points. He even started rattling things off about...empathy? Probably something the guy had seen in a comic book. The thought of someone who could play with emotions was...unsettling to say the least. Quin didn't let any of that thoughtfulness show though, she just continued scowling fiercely at the clown. It was more and more evident now he did have Drake, and they were going to do whatever they had to do to get him back. He'd saved her once. She owed him her life.
The game continued, and the clown tried to play...he really did. The guy said he was crazy, and then he said he wasn't, but the Asian saw right through the whole façade, and the crappy runny makeup on the guys face too. He'd done his job. Quin nodded at him, if they managed to get everyone through this unscathed, she'd probably have to rethink her opinion of this kid...at least a little.
It was quiet now, and the clown was obviously irate. Quin took that as her cue and moved forward so she was standing across the table from the psycho and leaned down, looking him in his crazy eyes.
"They're right you know, but you don't need powers to know you're scared. It doesn't really matter if they take you to that crazy mansion, or leave you here. You know what they do to mutants in general population, right?"
The next part was tough, especially since everyone in the room at the moment was a mutant, and Quin knew she had a negative opinion of some of the NYPD's policies where mutant criminals were concerned. It was time to play hardball though, her partner needed her.
"They collar them, and every time you even think about using that power of yours, you get a little shock. The collars are obvious too, it's a huge blinking neon sign that you are completely powerless to the general population."
She smirked, letting him roll that over in his stupid confetti head. "That is what you should be scared of."
Brown eyes narrowed and Quin spoke the next words barely above a whisper. "Last chance before I drag your ass to your cell myself. Where. Is. My. Partner?"
