The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She'd heard. He'd told her. Her brother had oh-so-surreptitiously shared. It was amazing. She'd been floored. In the most deadpan, not-over-the-top reaction ways possible. She'd stirred her soup calmly and went on with her day, saying a "That's nice."
Now, she was hunting Kealey down to demand details and share girl talk of the most entertaining and fluffily-heartwarming sort. It would be a good afternoon.
Amelia reached the library doors like a bullet train, then stopped. Let the brakes squeal for her. Steadied herself. Calmed her rambunctious flow of teenage emotions and relaxed, so that Kealey wouldn't teeter from the power overwhelming. She smoothed her skirt and composed herself, then coolly entered the book lair. She found the woman by the counter, with the band on, and lost it. A grin spread over her features wider than the Grand Canyon.

It had only been a matter of time, Kealey knew, before Ami found her in the library. Shin had let it slip that Aurum had helped him pick out the ring, and Aurum's sister was never far behind in terms of the current news involving her brother.
Glancing down at the ring on her finger, Keaely couldn't help but grin a little. Sure, this had been the logical progression of things, but it had still been a surprise when Shin had produced the box in their little work room.
They were getting married. Married. This was big news. Huge news. Of course Ami would know.
And here she was.
"We do." she said, holding out her left hand so the younger girl could see the ring.

Kealey grinned at the enthusiasm. What else could she do? She was excited too. Now that she was paying attention, the blond could tell that Ami really hadn’t known. How else would she be so excited.
”We haven’t set a date yet. “ she said, then laughed.
”And of course you’re in the wedding. I just hadn’t had a chance to ask.”
Now that all that was out of the way, Kealey leaned against the counter.
”So what was the dish from your brother?” she asked conspiratorially. ”Was the ring shopping a difficult task?”
So, no date had been set... and she was in! That was worthy of a fist-pump later. But for now, she simply beamed.
>>”So what was the dish from your brother?” Kealey asked conspiratorially. ”Was the ring shopping a difficult task?”
"Pretty much that he had his nose pressed up against the glass like a kid looking at puppies." Amelia answered. And stated a fact. "Your hubby is super cute."
>>"...And a member of my bridal party is still missing...."
"Yeah..." Amelia trailed. Way to be a Debbie Downer.
Now she was frowning, too.
What was the best time for a wedding? Amelia shook her head. "Dunno. I haven't done any wedding planning. Sure, imagining, but... man, planning my wedding out way in advance would freak any guy out, am I right?" Boy, she could just imagine Gawain cringing at this whole conversation. "I don't think there really is a 'best time'," she continued. "It's probably whatever time means something special to Shin and you. For me and Gawain, that'd probably be Christmas. Or maybe Halloween. What time would that be for you?"

”I’m sorry….” Kealey said at the immediate drop in happiness when she brought up Ghost. ”I didn’t mean to kill the mood…but it is what it is.”
Hmm. Ami brought up happy times of the year. Significant times of the year. The girl had a point, the only thing was…”I’d kind of like to avoid holidays. I don’t want to share my day with anything. Plus people have family obligations on holidays. Don’t want to make them pick.”
This was all so very complicated. She knew a few things for sure, and that’s where she wanted to start.
”I know I don’t want an outdoor wedding. Maybe somewhere with pretty outdoor options…but there’s too many variables with the weather.” she considered this for a moment, then spoke again.
They needed a better topic. She gave them one, and Kealey brought up a good point. Buuuut...
Amelia had to say it. "Some anniversaries are worth celebrating, you know? Even if they are on a holiday. Like probably New Years for me and Gawain. Ahem. But Spring and Summer are cool, too. Spring has a lot of stuff about new beginnings going for it, so that's neat." Deftly-changing-the-subject time had begun.

An eyebrow rose as Ami continued to speak, and Kealey wondered exactly what the girl was trying with the change of subject. By now, Aurum's sister should have known better than to try to pull one over on the empath, but apparently not.
The real question was....what?
As Ami spoke, Kealey tried to think. Anniversaries were important, even if she and Shin never really put too much stock in them. But Gawain....and New Years....
Kealey's eyes widened. "You didn't." she breathed, surprise evident on her face.
"We were talking about your wedding, and I like that topic just fine."
She did not want to get into this sort of talk here and now. Why, oh why, had she let that little gem slip? Although she supposed it might not be the end of the world if Kealey further continued to press. It wasn't like she was taking that secret to the grave.

"My wedding isn't going to go anywhere." Kealey said, crossing her arms across her chest and giving Ami a look.
A girl needed girl talk. Not details...never that...but was everything okay now? The last Kealey had known, Gawain was on the rocks...and now...this? Man, she'd gotten behind somewhere. They needed to talk.

So off they went to the study room, and on the way Kealey tried to work out exactly how they were going to have this conversation without it being awkward.
Once in the room, Kealey leaned against the edge of the table. "So, like I said. The last I heard, Gawain was in the doghouse. This...and I don't want details...seems to sound like anything but the doghouse."
"We sorted that out ages ago." Amelia said. "Back on my birthday. It wasn't his fault. Maxine was just crazy, and hormonal, and evil, and a childhood-ruiner. Gawain's okay now. It's fixed."
Was that all Kealey wanted to talk about? Amelia wasn't going to say anything else unless she was asked.
She waited on Kealey's move, watching the woman expectantly. It was so obvious she'd be asking more questions. It was kind of funny. How could she not?
