The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mercury reached into another pocket and placed a huge handful of quarters on the counter. ‘I want that red one with gummi bears on top, Please.” The worker behind the counter began to get the scoop, He then looked up at Mercury looking somewhat concerned.
“Do you mean the whole thing? Or a scoop.”
Mercury’s jaw dropped. “Is that enough for the whole thing? He dug into his pocket again and fished all the rest of the change out of his pocket. And placed it on the counter too.
The man glanced at his manager who nodded vigorously. If they got away with only giving that guy a ub of ice cream he could have it. Besides he paid way more than he needed to for a a couple of scoops. The teen pour gummi bears on top of the ice cream and removed the container handing it over the counter to a grinning Mercury.
“Thank you!” He spun around to see A man talking to Isabel and his smile slid a little bit. He grabbed a spoon from the counter. and set it in his mouth. He rolled the spoon to one side. “ I am mercury.” He looked at Isabel for a hint of what she thought of the man and then offered his hand to shake. The slightest sneer from Isabel might see the man before him needing to replace his right hand.
Isabel nearly choked on spoonful of sherbet that had just made its way to her mouth hen she came face to face with the pesky boy she'd mentioned to Mercury only a few minutes prior. Good god, was no place safe? Did he have to turn up everywhere she went? There was no way this was a simple coincidence. Someone couldn't just conveniently bump into her so often the way this kid did. He was beginning to move from irritating into suspicious.
His tone wasn't exactly appreciated, either. To her it almost sounded like he was making fun of her through his observation that she had company with her on her outing. Like she wasn't capable of making friends or something, or that it was so unusual that it was something that it was open for comedic jabs.
She glanced quickly over her shoulder when her big red companion joined her, an entire tub of ice cream in tow. She allowed him to introduce himself and offer his hand before she said anything. "Mercury, this is Forte. He's the pest I was telling you about."
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
The whole tub. Kyle's eyes were drawn to the container Isabel's companion had brought with him, noticing with amusement and awe at the red ice cream within, which was littered with gummi bears. It could be a magical land from this angle, red fields where the gummi's could live and roam freely...Kyle lightly shook his head as his mind started to wander.
The man must have had one craving for ice cream to take the whole thing. Or perhaps it was something to do with why he was a hulking mass of red and muscle. Either way, it tugged at the corner's of Kyle's mouth and he nodded to the big man when he approached.
"Nice to meet you, Mr Mercury. I can see why you're named after the red planet." Kyle cast a glance to Isabel before extending his hand to take the man's, gripping it firmly when he took it.
Then his danger sense went off when Isabel introduced him, prompting him to gather energy into the palm of the hand he'd given to Mercury. Kyle had no idea what the man's power could be, for he surely was a mutant with skin colored like that, but he wanted to be able to create distance if he had too. And if Mercury didn't want to let go of his hand, well, Kyle had ways to make that happen.
"Well actually, the name is Kyle, but I've been known to go by Forte. And what's this? Isabel, you've been talking about me to your friends? I hope you only tell them the bad things then." His smile was still there, though his eyes showed a much more serious tone beneath the words.
A glance shot at Isabel and a quirk of his eyebrow, the quirk turned into a questioning raise as the man made his first statement. The man’s hand moved into his and he held it firmly, not causing harm but certainly not offering escape. He dropped the spoon into his tub of ice-cream and gummi bears.
“Mars is named after the Red planet, the fourth planet from the sun. Even though in pictures it looks Yellow, but it shows red to the naked eye because of high amounts of Iron. I am named after the planet closest to the sun.”
In most things he was childish but he could tell you all about four subjects: space, dinosaurs, modern predators and dessert. “Nice to meet you Forte, Kyle, Forte. I’ve only heard of you today and that you are a Pest to Isabel.” The look on his face said that it was not something that pleased him. “ Are there more bad things I should hear about?” His large red hand still held the smaller man’s unaware of the danger that might put him in. he thought momentarily abou placing his foot on the man’s chest and pulling his arm off….could he explain that as an accident to Lori… not likely. He was an order member, he should have more reason than that to take his limbs off of him, probably.
Isabel's surprise over almost colliding with Kyle was very quickly tuning into irritation. The kid always acted so damn smug, like everything she did or said was some kind of joke and it only ever seemed to encourage him to continue pestering her. She didn't believe she'd just run into him coincidentally. He'd been putting far too much effort into harassing her for that to be the case. She firmly believed that she'd been followed, something she wasn't pleased about in the least.
She glared at him as he corrected her introduction while he addressed Mercury. The plastic spoon in her hand was starting to bend and would not doubt snap soon enough. The ice cream might end up in someone's face after that. Well, if Mercury didn't tear the boy apart first. That large red had of his probably could have closed upon most of the kid's arm if he wanted it to.
"A very large pest," she commented, not bothering to call off her companion as what was meant to be a handshake seemed to have turned into a vice the young man would need to escape from. She wasn't about to ruin Mercury's fun if he decided the boy needed to be taught a lesson. Maybe he'd be able to get some sort of message across that Isabel had failed to send. "Apparently he's following me now, too. I don't like that."
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
With his free palm, Kyle smacked his forehead lightly when he realized his mix-up with the planets. Almost secondly, a slight twitch of his hand made him realize that, while Mercury wasn't trying to squeeze the life out of his hand, he wasn't exactly holding it loosely either. A quick glance at Isabel was all Kyle needed to figure out that what she said was what would ultimately determine how this conversation would go.
So he would have to play this carefully, at least if he wanted to avoid any unpleasant fun today. "Well, that's my mistake then Mercury. As for being a pest, well...I suppose from her point of view I am. Though I never intended to be a pest." Keeping his face straight, Kyle turned his gaze to Isabel; but kept a piece of his mind ready with the energy gathering in his palm.
"Ah stop Isabel, you'll make me blush. But I'll be honest with you, I didn't plan this. If I were following you, believe me, you'd never know. This is simply an odd twist of fate." Kyle smiled lightly outside and in at that comment; the fact was that he had been following her and she hadn't been none the wiser. Kyle was speaking truth and yet hiding it at the same time.
"So there's no need for such hostility. Then again...it seems all I get when around you is hostility Isabel. How about we change that just for a little while, hmm?"
Mercury looked sideways to Isabel and then back at Forte, when upgrading from pest to actual dislike his expression turned from distaste to dislike easily enough. His eyes narrowed and then a slight smile lit his eyes as he began to squeeze his hand slowly but surely tightening like a vice, he would keep squeezing until the bones broke and turned to stick red dust.
He didn't like his attitude, he didn't like his tone, he didn't like the casual way that he attempted to sway Isabel with sarcasm and lies. He didn't like. He spit the spoon out of his mouth and was about to start ranting at the man, but that's when he realized he wasn't the only one with a trick up his sleeve. He looked down to their hands, the man across from him was smaller and in a physical fight he would have perished in an instant, if that was there was to the game of xgene warfare.
"Didn't intend, but succeeded too damn well," she shot back, throwing her sherbet on the ground to emphasize her irritation. She hoped he ended up slipping in it and breaking his nose. Though she could certainly break it for him without requiring a fall. It was extremely tempting to do so. Not like he could dodge very well with his hand caught in Mercury's vice of a grip.
"Bulls*it!" she all but shouted as he denied her claim of him following her. There was no way the kid just happened to show up exactly where she had. Passing her in the street might have been a plausible coincidence, but not appearing in the same shop as her.
As for changing her hostile attitude towards him, there was no way in hell that was going to happen. While Mercury was busy squashing the boy's much smaller hand into red mush, her own free hand curled unto a fist and she brought it around toward his face, aiming for his nose.
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
"That's only because you treat everything I do as if it has an ulterior motive! If you'd relax a little, then maybe everything wouldn't be a pest to you."
Kyle ignored the childish act of throwing her ice cream onto the floor, for it was simply that; childish. In all likelihood, Isabel hadn't paid for the frozen treat, so she wasn't losing money from the act. Hopefully though, she'd slip on her own act of childish stupidly and get an embarrassing comeuppance for it. The thought remained his own, but the grin on his face was there for all to see.
Her sudden outburst caught him a little unawares, blinking his confusion as that grin of his faded a little. That's when he felt the change in pressure on his hand. Kyle had been expecting something to come from the big red man ever since he refused to release his hand; now apparently was the time he found out what that was. Good thing he had been prepared.
The instant Kyle felt that change in grip, his hand spat out the energy it had been withholding till now. The result was as perfect as Kyle could have hoped for; the energy created a wedge between his hand and Mercury's, a wedge that suddenly exploded and pushed their hands apart. The resulting blow back removed Kyle just out of reach of Isabel's incoming punch. Dropping his helmet, Kyle outstretched his hand at her, the bolt of energy snapping free for her midsection. Wasting little time, the hand that had been in Mercury's grip until a moment ago followed that up with a second bolt, this one aimed at the big man himself.
Jumping back onto a table who's occupants had long since fled, Kyle grabbed his helmet and lowered it onto his head quickly. With the visor open, he chuckled through the muffled interior. "Now, see what you made me go and do? How are we gonna get ice cream now?"
Mercury ceased squeezing the hand any harder as he saw Isabel's incoming fist. It would amuse him to simply hold him up as Isabel got out some of her frustrations. But the little man had a surprise or three up his sleeve.
His hand popped away from Forte, Kyle, Forte's hand as energy of some sort exploded between their handshake, That was no way to introduce yourself. His fingers were instantly shaking the pain and tingling from them. His tail however was already intercepting the bolt that was coming towards Isabel, if his tail was a bat, and the bolt a ball, He would have hit a line drive right back at the pitcher. As it was however, the bolt and his tail speeding in for the kill, simply made the bolts end more spectacular as the collision dissipated the attack. His tail was actually repelled some against the attack, interesting.
The second bolt however slammed into his stomach. Mercury looked down at his t-shirt and shook his head. His wounded hand went to his stomach and rubbed the two fresh burns against each other. He set his ice cream down on a nearby table. "I hope, for your sake. You can run faster than me." Mercury charged Forte Haphazardly, tables and anything else between them batted aside without thought. Both of his hands were brought high and into to fists, fully intending on smashing the now helmeted man through a building or eight.
Isabel shouted in frustration as her fist missed its intended target, leaving her to quickly rebalance and catch herself lest she topple over from her own momentum. She took another step back and Mercury's tail swung around, apparently intercepting a shot the young man had taken at her in retaliation.
She saw the pair's hands separate rather roughly before Forte attempted to gain some high ground. She really would pummel the kid if he decided to try doing any sort of real damage to her large red companion. If he thought she was mean now, he'd really have hell to pay if he turned on one of her oldest friends.
When the Big Red shifted into attack mode she gave him plenty of room to maneuver in, backing up in the direction of the store's opposite wall. Bull in a china shop just didn't seem to do the situation justice, and she wasn't going to get herself caught up in the rampage.
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
Oh boy...suddenly this seems like a very bad place to be, Kyle mused to himself. From Mercury's grip earlier, Kyle had deduced that the man was far, far stronger then his appearance gave him credit for. He had just never expected that the man's almost demonic appearance meant that he had demonic strength too.
Be it table, chair or person, anything that got in the man's way was tossed aside as if it were made of paper, easily cleared from Mercury's path with what appeared to be little effort on his part. And considering how tiny the store was, it didn't take long for the red-skinned man to be bearing down on him. Good thing Kyle was already planning his escape from the charging red bull.
Right before Mercury would have spattered him across the wall, Kyle dove forward. Not towards the ground, like some people would normally expect, but straight towards Mercury. Nor was it a normal dive either; Kyle was twisting his body in midair, adjusting himself for a landing behind the man. As he passed, Kyle did three things. One was tap the man on the head as he cleared him. The second was tossing his jacket clear of him, revealing the outfit he wore beneath. The last was clicking the switch within his helmet that triggered it's transformation.
Landing on both feet, bending the knees to absorb the landing, Kyle unhooked the dual blades that attached to his wrists and snapped them into place with practiced ease. Flowing the energy into his palms, Kyle snapped out several bolts towards the back of Mercury's legs, trying to knock the big man off his feet. "Well, this should be interesting."
Kyle was close to the door, now he was back in the middle of the shop between Mercury and Isabel, not an ideal place to be in the big red man's mind. The man in the helmet dived over him and Mercury grinned, instead of whirling around to confront him again like a bull might have done. Mercury kept going scooping up the table as he went, he gripped the support beam of the table and hefted it like one might hold a baseball bat or pipe. He then stood in front of the door and turned around. The only escape was now blocked.
Sure he could shoot him with energy but if he wanted to have a ranged fight he could always throw things and in the mean time he would have to fend against Isabel too. Mercury made sure that Isabel wouldn't be in the line of fire and then flicked his wrist and sent the table spiraling end over end at a shocking speed toward Forte. Mercury's tail flicked about behind him looking for purchase on his next impromptu projectile weapon.
