Katrina's eyebrow knit together thoughtfully as she considered his grandfather. “Legends are usually only partly based on truth. If he's kind to you and doesn't run about murdering people for a hobby, I wouldn't worry too much about his past.”
The little illusionist was glad for the warmth of Koga's hand in hers. It was comforting. “Being stuck back then was a challenge sometimes, but one we got used to,” and one that had brought them closer together. She didn't mention that, though.
For some reason it seemed better not to mention how her relationship with Slate had progressed, especially since Koga seemed to be not mentioning it. Or maybe it was just her imagination that he avoided it and she was projecting her own actions onto him. If he had been a girl, she wouldn't have hesitated to tell him everything, but he was a boy and he had kissed her once, and even though he had been away for so long she was afraid that she would somehow hurt his feelings if she talked about another boy.
As Koga described his future self, Katrina was very glad that he had been on her side and not playing for the opposite team. He must have been a terrifying opponent, which undoubtedly had helped her and WereCat complete their own mission.
“I'm glad I had a guardian angel looking out for me,” she smiled at him.
And then at his last comment she grinned, “Yeah, we absolutely would be. Dreams of the future, time travel, dragon grandparents, apocalypse visions... they'd lock us up for life.”
She felt a lot better now, it was amazing how a good talk with a friend could improve the spirits. She grabbed the letter from the floor, folded it up and shoved it in her shoe, because skirts had the terrible disadvantage that they didn't normally have pockets.
“Come on, I'll give you a tour of the jet. I have security clearance for the hanger now.”

“I ssupposse in the legend they killed him asss well…and obvioussly he issn’t dead.” Koga conceded to the common sense of the girl across from him. He should have thought through it clearly, the monks did seem convinced that Mizuchi had a terrible temper though.
“That makess ssensse.” Koga sensed the whole in the story, should he avoid it and leave it as an excuse to protect him if he wanted to try to draw her into to being interested in him? No. He must remain honorable. “ I am glad Sslate wass with you. That you weren’t alone.” I would have rather been there…what 1913 serbian’s would have thought about him he had no clue, but it would have been worth it. “Of coursse. I wouldn’t have it any other way…hmmm, The only other thing I really remember about it wass getting drunk with Sshinbo in Japan and doing Karaoke…it wass terrible and hilariouss. Teblariouss..”
Koga matched her grin with a sly one. “ They would try.” If there was a pair made for sneaking in or out of a place, it was them. Koga hopped up, in excitement, Sam knew better than to give him clearance to the jet. He was still abit impulsive back then. “I will need to talk to Sam and Shin. I wonder if they will be mad, relieved or frustrated with me. Maybe, we can join at the X’s at the same time.”
