The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tension was running high, but that did not seem to stop either of them. "It ain't permission, but you could always consider that the place you're inviting the guy to isn't your place. I might have more 'good will' if I was at least considered in the Thanksgiving plans I was hosting."
He was gripping the back of the chair he was standing behind tightly, doing what he could to maintain his composure. "I'm not exactly the type who readily lets people in, so I thank you for taking the matter out of my hands and extending invitations for me." He was not lying; beside Quin, only Allison had even been in his apartment since he came to New York. His apartment was his sanctuary from everyone else, and he only allowed those he trusted in. Still, he was calling out his girlfriend for being insensitive to his weaknesses. This fight was going downhill fast.
Okay, he thought he had a few aces, but she called him out with a suited straight. How do you even counter the "he killed a man" card? "I tried to be as friendly as I could, so sorry if I was not used to him being like that. And I didn't forget-- I still feel bad enough that he had to save you when I did nothing." Oh, that was a rookie argument mistake. He basically admitted his jealousy and insecurity.

Quin’s family growing up hadn’t been a family that argued. They’d been full of zen and meditation, and all kinds of other things that normal people didn’t do when they got angry. Still, there had been a few times when tensions had run high (Like the whole time she’d been a teenager) and she’d learned from her ever-patient parents that the best thing to do when someone was angry was to listen.
So she listened. And got even more confused and frustrated.
”I didn’t know…” Quin said, and she wasn’t lying either. He wasn’t someone who readily let people in? He’d let her in…almost immediately. They’d painted, and he’d been friend, and they’d gone places and done things…
All of this was so contrary to everything she’d known since meeting Nate that it sounded like a completely outlandish argument. And he was jealous. Which was fine. Jealousy was understandable considering the fact that she spent so much time with her partner, but Nate didn’t get how it was.
”I just felt bad that I was going somewhere and I was going to be with someone who cares and he was going to be alone.” Man. If Ashton had heard that, he’d have been furious.
And as for Ashton having been there for her when Nate couldn’t be. ”And you have to stop holding it against him that he was on the phone with me that day.” Quin said softly. ”Because I’d be dead if he hadn’t been, and it wouldn’t have been anyone’s fault but mine for being careless. It was a lucky coincidence that we were talking about a case. You couldn’t have done anything.”
She shrugged her shoulders. ”I don’t hold it against you that you weren’t there. Why should you?”
She sighed.
”Look. I’m sorry I asked him without asking you. I…just didn’t think you’d care...and it's not like he would have been staying all night.”
Things had gotten quieter quickly, and without the noise or tension, there was little to distract Nate from the realization that he was being an ass. She probably just never realized that Nate might have boundary issues since he felt comfortable with her from day one for some reason. They had been getting closer, but Nate had not yet shared much of the weaker parts of him. Maybe this was a good sign for him to start. "I know, it should not have been such a big deal that you invited him. I just... I've been drifting around alone for a while and I never got used to trusting people. I was surprised enough when I felt so safe with you out of the gate. This place is the one thing I can really call mine right now, so you can guess what it means that I wanted to give you the key."
She was right, of course, about how irrational he was being. It was a physical, quantum impossibility that he could have done anything to save Quin. "I was jealous because I haven't cared about someone in a long time, and I hated feeling powerless. So you're right; I'm just thankful he was there."
He felt awful. More than that, he felt sad because he had put such a tarnish on their first Thanksgiving. He got closer to her and pulled her in for a hug. "I know I was being stupid and selfish and I'm sorry. I have not had a real Thanksgiving in so long and I was just content sharing it with you. You are what I'm most thankful for this year, and I'm sorry if I ruined this night for us."

Nate explained and Quin kept listening. She hadn’t known that it was out of the ordinary for him to get as close to someone as he’d quickly gotten close to her. Now that she knew, that was something she could work with. That was something tangible that she could take into consideration the next time she had an inkling to take liberties.
She would ask.
The subject switched back to Ashton, and Quin nodded her head as Nate processed her words. She was pleased that he could pull himself back and look at things l, even if they involved him in a way that wasn’t entirely logical. It boded well for later. All relationships had points of contention, what mattered was the way in which both parties handled such things.
Nate moved around the table to hug her, and Quin wrapped her arms around him, hugging him back tightly.
”You didn’t ruin anything, and I’m glad that we’re having Thanksgiving together too.” She said, suddenly remembering the odd topic of conversation before they’d started arguing about Ashton, of all things. ”And I’ll ask next time…I understand now that you’ve explained.” There. She felt better. Glancing away, Quin’s eyes fell on the food still steaming on the table.
”Let’s just sit down and eat…and you can tell me about the zombie turkey. We heard something about that on the radio, but were on the other side of town. If it was as nasty as it sounded…I’m thankful that you’re alright.”
Her arms tightly squeezed him, and he was smiling again. He had to learn not to be so quick to anger and stubbornness. She made him happy and he did not want to risk that over stupid fights.
Aww, it was their first fight.
He nodded at her suggestion and they sat at the table, finally ready to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. Over dinner, Nate shared the details of his day. There was the gargoyle girl and the brunette he protected, the silver man and the catwoman, a guy who seemed like a walking volcano, and a lot of dead frozen light and dark meat.
Dinner was relaxing-- the first relaxing part of the day. A glass or two of wine helped the cause of mellowing Nate out. They both ate plenty, with more than enough left over to be split between Nate's fridge and Ashton's care package.
((It is 7am so I can't think; therefore, you can start up whatever conversation happens after dinner lol))

The food was...really stinkin' good. Quin remarked on it several times as she stuffed her face. Now that they were done with drama, the night was progressing quite nicely. Turkey joined mashed potatoes and stuffing and green bean casserole to have a party in Quin's belly with the cornbread she'd liberally smeared with butter.
Yeah. Quin liked to eat, and this was not like at home where her parents were always trying to get her to eat Tofurky. This was real Thanksgiving dinner, with real wine, and it was great.
Nate told the story of his day and Quin had to be impressed, even if the X-Men had been present. Pouring herself another glass of wine and bringing it and the bottle with her, Quin nodded her head in the direction of Nate's very comfortable couch.
"Let's relocate." she wanted to digest. And cuddle.
Nate found Quin's feelings toward the X-Men a little humorous. Comic books always showed strained relationships between the law and vigilantes, but he had a real-life example sitting at the table with him. It was appropriate: he fought a giant monster, and now he was living in a comic book.
With dinner wrapped up, Quin wanted to head to the couch, and Nate was the last person to object to an idea like that. He lead her back to the couch and they took their place, with his arms wrapped around her waist from behind.
Maybe it was the after-effect of fighting and making up, or maybe it was feeling Quin's warmth against him, but Nate was in an affectionate mood. He kissed her cheek a few times, but from where he was sitting, it was much easier to reach her neck, so he kissed there instead.
The hectic day had distracted him, but with everything settled, a thought occurred and Nate had to chuckle. "You know, after everything that happened, I still forgot to bring dessert."

They settled onto the couch and Quin sighed, the day's tension finally draining out of her. The argument had been unexpected and troubling, but it seemed like they'd worked things out. The apparent issues between Nate and Ashton were mildly problematic, but it was a bridge to cross as it arrived.
Nate kissed her cheek then moved to her neck and Quin leaned her head out of his way, she was just helpful like that. He stopped and Quin leaned her head back so she could see his face.
He'd forgotten dessert. Frankly, the thought of more food was not a happy one, and Quin just laughed and nodded towards her wine glass.
"I think I'm good, but we could always go get something later if we need to. I'm sure something is open."
That said, she returned to snuggling and wine sipping for a moment before commenting. "It's pretty cool that you took out a giant turkey."
As a man who spent most Thanksgivings at a pizza place, a McDonald's or a bar, he could certainly agree that business did not completely cease on Turkey Day. "Nah, I have no intention of going anywhere." He kissed her once more before grinning. "Besides, if need be, I have you." He gave a light nibble to the spot on her neck he was kissing.
Nate was enjoying the moment so much, he almost forgot about the turkey incident when she brought it up. He had to admit; he felt pretty impressive fighting for the safety of the city. He could not resist pushing one of her buttons teasingly. "It is, isn't it? Who knows? Maybe I'd make a good X-Man," he joked. "What do you think of a cape?"

More kissing, a little nibbling. Yeah. Quin probably would have had something to say if Nate had suggested going out. As it was, she snuggled back more into Nate and chuckled low when he said he had an alternate option for dessert.
"I might be too sweet." Two could play the coy game.
Nate's next comment made Quin roll her eyes and groan as she set her wine glass down and turned so she could look him in the face.
"I think you'd look a fool, just like the rest of them." she said, then shoved him slightly with a playful grin.
He had considered making the pun, but she ended up saying it instead. It was better that way; it was cute when she said it, but it would have been lame from him.
She turned herself around and shoved him. Oh, so that was how this was going to go? "I don't know about that... for a fool, I can take care of myself." It was a gambit assuming she was ticklish, but he was going to give it a chance and he attacked her sides. Worst case scenario, he failed and looked silly, and best case scenario she would end up paralyzed in a fit of laughter.

Quin was ticklish, but she wasn't that ticklish. Nate was going to have to learn that Quin was not your average giggly girl. Despite the sneak attack, and in spite of the uncontrollable laughter, Quin decided she was going to hold her own. Besides, wrestling around was fun.
Groping for Nate's hands, the redhead managed to capture one wrist, twisting her hips so she could try to pin him down.
So it was not the worst or best case scenario, but she was ticklish, so it was a win for Nate. She was not, however, incapacitated and she was more than able to fight back. She grabbed one wrist and took a position over him. He had to admit, he had respect for the New York Police Department, because his girlfriend was certainly strong enough to hold her own.
He wanted to regain the advantage, so he tried turning himself, using his one free arm around her waist to turn her with him. He hoped getting her underneath would keep them both on the couch, but it proved too short to handle the scuffle and they fell to the ground. It was thankful that the couch was not very high off of the carpeted floor. He tumbled over one more time to pin Quin, straddling her waist. She still had his wrist, so he found her other hand and grabbed it, interlocking his fingers and holding it over her head.

Luckily, the couch wasn't very tall, because Nate wasn't going to give up without a fight. Quin was glad, she respected him more for the fact that he wasn't simply going to let her roll him.
She grabbed is wrist, he wrapped his arm around her waist and used his size advantage to roll them off the couch. The redhead did not fail to notice how Nate took the brunt of the impact, but then he was rolling them and gaining the positional advantage.
He grabbed her arm and pulled it above her head, and Quin realized that Nate had no clue about her martial arts skills. It would have been easy. So easy to shift her weight and flip him over her head. Quin's instincts were screaming at her to do it. She didn't though.
Nate had her arm, and she had his. Quin was breathless, laughing and trying to shake hair that had come loose from her ponytail out of her face. It was too perfect to ruin for pride.
Her concession left Nate grinning; she was no push-over, and if she wanted to get out of the situation, he was very well sure she could have dealt with him in some way. "You so let me win."
He leaned down, kissing her collarbone, up to her neck, and reached her lips. God, he loved kissing this girl. He pulled away and smiled. "I can live with that though." He quickly returned to her lips, pressing his body against hers more closely. Her warmth left him wanting to keep her as close as possible.
