The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

More kissing. More kissing and moving. More kissing, moving, and then they were at the couch. Riley was kind of awash in feeling, something she wasn’t used to. She simply didn’t lose her head like this, definitely not over a few little kisses.
Except apparently she did.
The couch cushions were soft against her back, and if possible her arms wrapped tighter around Aurum as she pulled him down with her. His hands framed her face, and Riley kissed him back in earnest, her hands starting to roam a bit of their own volition. He was still wearing a tux after all, and the jacket was definitely in the way.

Aurum's hand found Riley's while she was trying to remove the silly barrier Aurum’s jacket was providing to the rest of his clothing. Such sleight of hand was counterproductive! This was the logical progression wasn’t it? The jacket needed to go to proceed to the next step in the equation.
The fact that it was only date 2 didn’t occur to Riley, neither did the thought that Aurum’s movement of her hand had been intentional. She wasn’t going through motions here, she was progressing with a sort of reckless abandon she hadn’t necessarily believed in before.
They were still kissing, and Riley moved her other hand to join the one already on Aurum’s chest. (A very nice place to be) The same maneuver she’d attempted previously could still be accomplished. Her hands slid inside the jacket, once again attempting to slip it from Aurum’s shoulders.
A slight of hand, if you will. If you would consider it that. An insult. Because someone was not getting enough attention. Maybe he was getting too much.
Aurum caught her hands and broke up the kissing party.
"Riley." He looked her sternly in the eye. He hoped that would be enough to give her the stop sign clue.

Again her actions were impeded, and this time Aurum didn’t let go of her hands. The kissing stopped, and Riley found herself awash in new emotions. Confusion. Hurt. Embarrassment that intensified as she opened her eyes and saw the look on Aurum’s face.
He looked her in the eye, and Riley looked back as he said her name. The meaning was clear, and suddenly her cheeks were burning hot with something entirely different than what had caused them to flush a few moments before. Her eyes mirrored the confusion and rejection she was feeling as she tried to put it into words.
”You…you don’t….” she said, stumbling over words like the vulnerable idiot she was. ”I just thought…”

Too soon.
Two little words. People always said that a picture was worth a thousand words, but two words could be worth a thousand as well.
Riley’s first instinct was to be angry. Who the hell did he think he was, kissing her like that then putting on the brakes? The anger faded fast though, within a millisecond. It wasn’t his fault. He hadn’t tried to escalate things…that had been her.
My God she was mortified. Little frustrated and embarrassed tears pricked at the back of her eyes, and Riley tried to blink them away. What kind of person was she?
Aurum still had her hands and Riley tugged, hoping he’d let go. The tears were still there and she turned her head, unable to meet his eyes anymore.
She got it. She just didn’t get it. As far as she could remember, no guy had ever done something like this. Why was it too soon? Why was he smiling when he said it? She felt stupid asking, so she didn’t. Instead she just nodded her head, taking a deep breath and faking a smile.

She tried to free her hands. He didn't let her. There were tears in the corners of her eyes. He saw them. They made him worry. The fact she'd broken eye contact was even more perplexing. It had been a slight, he guessed. And not even slightly.
The fact remained, though. He'd meant what he'd said.
Did he want to? Well, yeah... any guy would. Eventually. When the mood was right and the moon was high. And dogs were serenaded by Italian men whilst eating spaghetti. But not right now. Not on the second date. It was just too soon.
He had to let go of one of her hands to cup a cheek. An unfortunate side effect of not being a squid. Aurum held her, and tried to get her to look at him.
There were those eyes. Beautiful blue spheres. He looked into them.
"Riley," Aurum said. "When it happens. I want it to mean something. To be more than just sex..."

Aurum didn’t take the hint when she tugged on her hands, he held them and kept looking at her even though she’d turned her head. Why was he doing that? Why couldn’t he just let her go and wallow in her self-pity and condemnation somewhere?
One hand was freed, but only so Aurum could turn her face. She didn’t want to look him in the eyes, it made her cheeks burn all over again. She was still so embarrassed, but she looked all the same. He was serious, and when he spoke, Riley did her very best to listen.
He wanted the whole thing to be special, to mean something to be more than just a hook up.
Now Riley got it. At least a little better.
”Okay.” she said, leaning her face into his hand. He meant it…this whole waiting thing, and special thing. Man, this was uncharted territory.
“I’m not good at these things Aurum.” Riley admitted, feeling like he should know. ”I’m not sure I know how to do this right.”

Riley had to smile just a little bit at Aurum’s quip. They were still so close, and she shook her head a little bit. ”That’s not what I meant, and you know it.” she said.
Now that things had calmed down a little bit, it was a little easier to think and be rational about this whole thing.

"I know," He kissed her forehead. "And I really appreciate that you're trying. That means a lot."
It had been a while since Viletta. He hadn't really tried this thing with anyone else since then. It was different for him, too. Maybe she needed to know that.
"It's. Uh. Been a while since my last relationship, actually." He confessed. "You're actually the first serious one since high school."

He understood, and appreciated the fact that she was trying to see where he was coming from. Somehow that was important.
She was something ‘serious’. For a self-proclaimed commitaphobe, that little statement sure made Riley happy. Apparently her normal rules were not going to be able to apply to anything with Aurum.
Maybe that meant she needed new rules.
”I can live with that.” she said, refusing to admit that she’d never really had a ‘serious’ relationship.
Again, she tried to take her hand back, and this time succeeded. Both free, Riley reached up and let her hands trail from Aurum’s shoulders to the sides of his neck, fingers curling happily into his hair.
”More kissing is okay though, isn’t it?” she asked, with a wicked little smile on her face.
