The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Teddy wasn't sure that he should speak up to the cop. After all he didn't really see anything except the back of the counter that he'd been pushed behind. Teddy got a little bit of courage and decided to answer the cop. "It happened about half an hour ago I think. I didn't see much and it happened all so fast..." Teddy trailed off for a second trying to recall any information that might speed up this process.
"I was in here to...um...buy a couple of things and I was up here checking out when all of the sudden the shooting started. The next thing I knew I was behind the counter and I heard tires squealing away. But I didn't want to go chase after them beacuse I thought that they might shoot back or something." Maybe a little bit of it was a lie but there were broken and smashed things all over the place and who was to say that whatever he was trying to buy before the shooting took place wouldn't have been shot up while he was checking out.
Teddy just realy hoped that he could keep his cool while he told part of the story to the cop. He mainly didn't figure that the cop needed to know what he was really here for because it didn't seem like it was connected. The girl couldn't prove that he wasn't really there to buy something either. For all she knew he could pick somehting up on the way out after he got his fortune read. But that was about it.
Unfortunately, the young mutant kid couldn't really tell the cop much more. He didn't really want to draw any more attention to himself but he hoped that anything he said would speed this up and the detective wouldn't feel like he was pulling teeth to get some useless information from the people in the store.
It was small, and somewhat hidden by his moustache, but Katrina thought she had gotten just a little hint of a smirk. She was glad they had an understanding.
Katrina nodded along with the blonde haired boy's testimonial about the timing and the events of the shooting. He'd left out a bit of information about why he had actually come to the shop, but that didn't seem important, so she didn't bother to correct him.
She also wasn't sure who the actual owner of the store was, mostly because she wasn't sure if it was in Eros' name or Alister's. It was okay, though, Alister volunteered that information with a little wave. The good detective could believe it or not that a twelve year old owned his own business.
She did know some things though, like a possible motive.
“I know the store got broken into a while back, too, and vandals trashed the place. Do you think it could be the same people? Maybe someone with some kind of grudge?”
If it was the same people, finding who shot these shots could help them find who was here before. If it was, than Jude was possibly in more danger than he would admit to. Also, it could help them find Ghost. Katrina turned on her best innocent eyed look in case it would help convince their Detective friend to offer up any information he might have about that other incident.

Jorge
He had asked his question. Pretty standard question to ask at a time like this. After all, cops need to know exactly what is going on if they want to get the full issues that are taking place. They need to know what people saw. Unfortunately in cases such as this, the results were always the same. Nobody saw anything.
Apparently it was going to be true here as well…
>> "It happened about half an hour ago I think. I didn't see much and it happened all so fast...I was in here to...um...buy a couple of things and I was up here checking out when all of the sudden the shooting started. The next thing I knew I was behind the counter and I heard tires squealing away. But I didn't want to go chase after them beacuse I thought that they might shoot back or something."
Jorge looked down at the young blonde boy and offered him a thankful smile. He was glad that the kid decided against his choice to want to go running after that whoever it was that had done the drive by. After all, he did not want more human life risked because of someone’s curiosity. At least the kid was smart enough to duck down and stay inside the building that had been riddled with bullets.
“Smart thinking,” Jorge said with a nod to the blond boy. “Thank you for telling me what you saw and heard,” he continued to write down everything that the boy had seen and heard. Even the little details can be important at times like this. He then looked up. “What’s your name? If you don’t mind me asking…”
Once the boy had done so, he turned back to the familiar blonde girl. He really was relieved that she was okay. But when motions were made by a blind kid with incredibly dark glasses that he was the owner of the shop, Jorge arched a brow. He would definitely need to speak with him next to check if this were a gag or something…
>> “I know the store got broken into a while back, too, and vandals trashed the place. Do you think it could be the same people? Maybe someone with some kind of grudge?”
Jorge blinked as he turned his attention back to the girl. He quickly jotted down that note as well. So the shop was attacked before. He would definitely take a look into that.
“It is possible,” he said with a nod and glanced back to where the bullets had shattered the glass. “To do this, in broad daylight, though? That has to be one hell of a grudge…”
The detective seemed nice enough for Teddy's liking. Teddy didn't get the vibe that this was some crooked cop that he'd seen on tv shows or anything. He saw the guy writing down what he'd said and Ted truly did hope that it helped, but he has his doubts.
"My names Ted." he replied as the cop asked his name quickly before looking for the owner of the shop. He could have given he cop a fake name but Teddy didn't really see the point. He hadn't seen anything and e didn't really give any information that might be helpful. Besides, dishonesty wasn't really the way he'd been raised. His parents would be proud to know that he was doing the right thing up here in New York. Beside al Teddy really wanted was to get talking to Alister about what they'd seen. Maybe it was an indicator of the future and what was to come.
After Ted replied with his name, the little illusionist thought she had better add hers in as well. She was acquainted with Detective Cerventes, yes, but that didn't mean they had even been properly introduced.
“I'm Katrina,” she pointed at the boy with sunglasses, “and that's Alister.”
Now. How could she possibly explain what she thought that 'one hell of a grudge' might be without revealing that she might be a little too involved in things like breaking into a crime scene to do her own personal investigations and other tiny, immaterial things that the good detective didn't need to know?
Here goes nothing.
“So, there's a lot of missing people in the papers lately, right? What if someone was trying to kidnap or hurt one of our employees and they missed the first time?” And the second time. Apartment and shop. She really wanted to add the part about Jude's apartment and his family being missing and how it all had to be connected to these kidnappers, but she wasn't sure he would want her to get the police's help on his behalf. Maybe she could just talk to him about it later and he could go to the police.
“Do you think that person is in danger? Should we be taking any precautions?”
Alister snorted at the table behind her, then added his own theory. “Isn't it far more likely someone just hates mutants and did a drive-by on a mutant owned business for the hell of it?”
Katrina frowned, “You don't think it's personal? You didn't say anything to anyone lately that would upset them enough to do this, did you?”

Jorge
>> "My names Ted."
Ted. Jorge thought with a nod as he jotted down the boy’s name. It was a good name for a good kid. He’d make sure to keep the kid around to make sure he was okay before he left.
Once he was done with that, he turned back to the blonde and her glasses-wearing friend who sat at the nearby table.
>> “I'm Katrina…and that's Alister.”
He jotted down both names. So, her name was Katrina. It was nice to finally put a name to her face than to always think of her as the Stapler-Thief who had somehow run off with his property. He sighed as he wrote down her name as well as the other kid whom she had pointed out a second before. So far he still saw no adults in this establishment, but he would get to that question for later. Right now, he needed to just work with the facts that he had in this case.
But as he thought about this, the detective shifted his attention back to Katrina as she seemed to be questioning herself on how to spill some type of beans. In the end though, she finally agreed to do so and began to speak…
>> “So, there's a lot of missing people in the papers lately, right? What if someone was trying to kidnap or hurt one of our employees and they missed the first time? Do you think that person is in danger? Should we be taking any precautions?”
He tilted his gaze. She knew about the missing people? Sure it was in all the newspapers but it was not exactly something that a kid would just pick up and begin to talk about. No, this was different. It was more like she really had been following up on the story, but why? Did she really take that much interest in crime, such as when she busted in on his fight with Kringle the last time they ran into one another? If so than she definitely needed to get another hobby.
But no. There was something more to it…
>> “Isn't it far more likely someone just hates mutants and did a drive-by on a mutant owned business for the hell of it?”
>> “You don't think it's personal? You didn't say anything to anyone lately that would upset them enough to do this, did you?”
“Whoa, whoa,” he said as he pulled the conversation back to including him.
Both Alister and Katrina seemed to be trying to leave him out of it and discuss it between themselves. He knew that it was very likely that someone who had just been pissed off could have done this horrible crime, but this seemed to be far more personal than just a little grudge. To do this in the light of day was something that was far more personal.
He turned his gaze back to Katrina.
“Katrina, if someone is really in danger, as you say they are, I need to talk to them.” he said resolutely. “They need to report what is going on. I can’t come into this half blind because people are telling me the facts. So if either of you know what could possibly be going on, I need to know.”
Teddy was completely lost. It was like there were five different conversations going on at once. Who was in trouble here? Him? Was he the one in danger or was Katrina talking about someone else? Maybe the kid that was wearing the bullet proof vest? This were just getting out of hand here. Why did he come then? It certainly wasn't to get shot at or interviewed by the police. He was just here to find his friend.
The young faux animal shifter decided that this might take a while and he would be better suited to have a seat in one of the shot up chairs that were against the wall. Maybe he could catch a few z's while this investigation was going on or something. He didn't really expect to fall asleep; after all, the seats weren't exactly the most comfortable.
Even though Katrina seemed to know a lot about what was going on she didn't sound like she really felt like sharing information. Maybe she would be but it really sounded like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
