The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Missing mother? Check. Location across the country? Check. A moving story of his search to find her? ... Partial check.
This sort of story was no doubt hard to tell... so she did her best to be a good listener. She looked up into his eyes and wanted to know. "What happened?" She asked. Then added. "Does Maya know?"
>>"Yeah... But we're still talking about what happened. I want to know the rest."
Gawain sighed. Of course it was not going to be that easy. He bit his lips.
"I found her, but... I couldn't bring her back. She has... things that she has to do. So she stayed behind, mostly to keep me safe. So, I am back to square one."
That was about as much as he was going to say about this. He obviously did not like to talk about it.
Her hugging him after that announcement made perfect sense in her head.
"Oh, Gawain. I'm sorry."
It wasn't cliche. She really was sorry he'd had to deal with that. He wasn't off the hook. Not by a long shot. But she understood now what he'd gone through, and why he wouldn't have had much attention for her.
What he'd gone through had been major. He'd tried to track down his mother and bring her home, but... when he'd found her, she hadn't wanted to come. It sucked. Royally.
Right now, he deserved someone to help him feel like things sucked less.
"If you need to talk about it. I'm here." She said. And she meant it.
She hugged him. That was unexpected. Also, really nice. Not in the male teenage-brain kinda nice either. It felt like someone cared about him. At least half of him, anyway. Wrapping his arms around her, he settled into a hug, quite selfishly, because somehow it was just what he needed.
>>"If you need to talk about it. I'm here."
He chuckled against her shoulder. "I know. Anybody ever tell you how awesome you are?"
She really was. She was trouble. But, then again, so was he.
>>"I know. Anybody ever tell you how awesome you are?"
"Lots," she replied with a small smile. And she wasn't bragging.
So, they hugged. For as long as he needed to before he let go, or decided to talk. Or a parent walked in... which (THANK GOD) didn't happen. This time.
