"I like Jasper... though there was a popular book series recently that had a character named Jasper in it recently and he was a vampire." Vampires were violent in her experience. One had trashed a whole bathroom of theirs, once. "It's going to be impossible to find a name without it making me think of something or someone else, isn't it?"
Maya re-took her seat and watched the master work. He had a certain way of doing things that endlessly fascinated her. Like the way he accommodated his long hair without thinking when he bent near the counter. She particularly enjoyed the way he flicked water at the skillet to see if it would sizzle. It made sense, more sense than holding a hand near, but it just wasn't something she did normally for whatever reason.
"I wish we had a way to tell him. Maybe... maybe then he would come home?" It was hard not to be upset about it. And hard to see such a fierce reaction from Sebastian once they figured out he was gone.
What's the first thing you want to do when Jude comes back?" He was coming back. She refused to think of him broken or alone somewhere. If she did she was just going to start crying again.

“There is?” As the owner of a bookstore, she would be the one to know about which books were popular these days. The only vampire book he'd ever read was Bram Stoker's. And the only vampire he had meet had not been exactly friendly. Maybe it was better to avoid vampire names, then.
“We'll keep looking, then we can tell him ourselves.”
He poured batter for the first pancake into the pan as a test and watched it carefully as it cooked. Slowly, bubbles started to appear in the topside of the cake. When there were enough, the unicorn man deftly flipped it with the spatula.
He inclined his head to the side, trying to think about what he would do when Jude came home.
“Realistically, I'd probably yell at him for making me worried, then give him a hug. Then I'd ask if he'd had enough to eat and then proceed to fuss over him for at least a week until he got fed up with me and told me to leave him alone.”
Jude would come back. He had to.
With an artistic twist of his hand, Sebastian flipped the first pancake onto the plate. Being the first one, it was a little pale, but if he'd gotten his measurements correctly it would be delicious.
He set the plate down in front of his wife and kissed her on the top of the head.
“Let's finish up so we can make sure he gets back safe.”
