The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Someone without a body, and who's admittedly all talk, isn't much danger to me," she replied, completely confident in her own abilities, and the lack of abilities she imagined a disembodied voice would have. He may have been right about her not being able to do much about him following her around, but that hardly counted as dangerous. More annoying than anything else.
"You're assuming that I care if I have an invisible body trailing me. I really don't. I've had people follow me before, and such situations have always resolved themselves." Usually with a corpse left out in the open to rot somewhere. "Maybe I can't do anything about it, but you're assuming I don't know anyone else who can't. I have connections I can take advantage of."
She didn't much care about his opinions on the abilities of the police. She'd already told him they didn't scare her, and she meant it. Her connections couldn't just potentially rid her of a buzz in he ear, they were also exceptionally good at knocking down jails and breaking people out. She'd stood on trial before and had gotten away without a scratch, and she was sure she could do it again.
Being called a super villain was a new one. Usually people just called her a murderer. Even just a villain was rare. She didn't personally believe herself to be one. She killed people, sure, but she wasn't a bad guy. Really she was just working toward her cause, and such things often came with casualties. "Villainy is a point of view."
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.

Now it was just a game. No one could hurt the other, but they were both kind of interested - Krisz was definitely all kinds of curious, and the girl was curious enough at least to keep the conversation going.
"I do too" he aswered, chuckling "Althoug probably not the same kind. Connections are awesome that way, aren't they? What you cannot do yourself, find friends who can. Very useful philosophy in life."
Not like he had friends over here, but he did have... connections. That sent Krisz' invisible brain clicking.
Cops would not try to arrest this woman; she was walking around free as a bird, and a danger to everyone. But Krisz did know one cop that was smart enough, and badass enough, and mutant enough, to deal with these kinds of threats. Why else would they have her undercover in the first place?
"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, right?" he chuckled "I mean, there is this girl I know, she is the only one who can hurt me. Physically, I mean. Sticks and stones, all that stuff. She is a mutant. And I know her. We talk sometimes. Funny, isn't it? She should be enemies, since her power cancels mine... but we are not."
Isabel made a small sound of disagreement. She had a hard time believing that some voice that made a habit of buzzing around peoples' ears could be making friends all that easily. He was far too annoying. Plus the whole 'maybe I'm here, maybe I'm not' thing could put some people on edge and further prevent the cementing of any potential relationships. Stalkers didn't make good companions.
As for keeping enemies close, she never had played by the rules of that little saying. She was much too likely to try and skewer the people she deemed to be enemies than be able to tolerate them being within arm's reach of her. She was much too temperamental.
"I don't play nice with my enemies," she said, giving voice to her train of thought, though that train was quickly becoming derailed as the possibility of becoming acquainted with an individual of his description emerged. "And here I thought you didn't have a physical form. How interesting." At least, she assumed that's what he meant. She didn't think pure sound could be hurt otherwise.
"And you're not enemies because...? Are you a coward, is that it? You behave around her and only annoy the people that can't maim you? I thought you liked strong characters. Maybe because you aren't one yourself?"
Bait, bait.

"Pffft" Krisz huffed, following her. If he had a face, he would have been wearing a hurt frown. But because he did not, he just huffed. Him? Not a strong character? He was a mutant! And an author. He was several strong characters, all in one...
"Puh-lease" he chuckled "She almost strangled me on a bathroom floor. She didn't really have a reason to do that... all right, so maybe she did. But she did not kill me all the way. What is that if not friendship? That's something out of a movie, let me tell you. Shady hot villain girl and the smart sidekick. Initally, they hate each other... you get the gist, don't you. Anyway. I don't behave any different around her. She could hurt me if she wanted to. But I am here, am I not?..."
Ooh, had she hit a nerve? Mr. Loves-A-Strong-Character offended at her calling him a coward? Too bad. That was now her opinion of him, and on top of that his hasty huffing made it all the more fun to call him names. She just gave a small grin at his irritation, a fraction of her own lifting once she figured out she could turn the table on him just as easily.
"Say whatever you want, kid, but a guy that hides in thin air still seems pretty cowardly to me, regardless of if your 'friend' kills you or not," she replied, pulling a few books off shelves at random and shuffling them around to irritate the librarians.
"I can think of several reasons for strangling you," she muttered, silently counting in her head reasons that she'd personally maim him, "The odd thing is that she didn't go through with it. She must not be all there in the head if she didn't off you when she got the chance. Or maybe you're just no fun to kill. People that put on a brave face make better toys."

Oh wow. The chick really was a psycho. It made him feel uncomfortable, even though he had no body and she had no powers, unlike Mina, to bring him down. Still. Even her voice was sharp like a knife. Toys? Really? that was cruel, even for a book villain.
"Or maybe I just got lucky and she was interrupted before she killed me" he admitted, going on with the game. The more interested Isabel got... well. He was sure Mina could take her down. If she decided to go for the bait. And then she would be locked up. Killer or not, she was a girl, a mutant girl. Surely NYPD would find a way to contain one girl...
The little voice's momentary silence seemed to be a small victory in Isabel's mind. Finally she'd managed to say something that got him to shut up. That had been way more effort than was worth it. Most people got real quiet real fast at the sight of her, and if not then, then when it came up in conversation that she was a wanted criminal. This kid wouldn't shut up about her character, like she was someone out of a book or something. It was about damn time she'd gotten to him.
Unfortunately, it didn't last too long. However, when he spoke up again it was to shed a little light on the situation between him and his 'friend'. Apparently they weren't on terms as good as he'd tried making it out to be. "Huh. You're friend sounds like someone I could get along with. In the least, we seem to have similar interests in mind." She wondered if the girl would be Order material. There really was no telling until a meeting between the two young women played out, if it happened at all.

>>"Huh. You're friend sounds like someone I could get along with. In the least, we seem to have similar interests in mind."
"Beating up poor unfortunate ghosts?... Yeah, you are probably right."
Krisz kept pushing forward. It looked like Isabel would be interested in meeting Mina after all... but he had to get there without obviously suggesting it.
"Women are cruel, you know? I mean, not cruel cruel, as in cut-your-guts-out cruel, but. Emotionally. You know what I mean? You try to be nice, and kind, and helpful, and follow them around, and jump bullets and whatnot, and they still think that is the least they deserve from someone like me. No offense. And I did jump a bullet for her once. It went through me, granted, but hey, it was her shady dealings, not mine... just sayin'. Gotta appreciate a good guy when you... um, hear one."
Isabel gave a small sound of amusement in reply to the voice's assessment of women's cruelty. She wasn't so sure about other women, but she had never really been one to play games with peoples' emotions. She was definitely the 'cut-your-guts-out' kind of girl. She may even have demonstrated such a trait if the young man had any guts for her to cut instead of cheating and becoming just an annoying voice in her ear.
"Might wanna be sure what kind of person you're hanging out with before you do something like try to take a bullet. Most people can only do that once. Hardly seems worth it to me." That wasn't to say she wouldn't do the same for a few select individuals, but then she could do so without seriously damaging herself.
"Sounds like this girl knows how to have fun if she's got people shooting at her. Maybe even like she could use more help than just some voice pestering her. I'll have to keep an eye out for women getting shot at."

>>"Might wanna be sure what kind of person you're hanging out with before you do something like try to take a bullet. Most people can only do that once. Hardly seems worth it to me."
"I can do it multiple times, it is just not very effective. It goes through me, you see. Very heroic, but she still dies if she is not quick enough."
Unless he actually materialized before he jumped. But that would be paaaainful, wouldn't it? Nobody wanted that.
>>"Sounds like this girl knows how to have fun if she's got people shooting at her. Maybe even like she could use more help than just some voice pestering her. I'll have to keep an eye out for women getting shot at."
"I don't pester her. I entertain her. It's what a sidekick is for, right? Anyway, I wouldn't suggest you hang out with her, she draws enough bullets on her own, she doesn't need you to get her into trouble. I mean, no offense, but you are a supervillain. Are you not? And she would kill me if I made you visit her. Positively murder me. Nope, out of the question. Mina's off limits, you hear me?"
So the irritating voice's friend had a name: Mina. At least Isabel had something to go on other than the description of a woman that attracted bullets and could solidify voices. She would have to set Lisa to the task of asking around to see if anyone was familiar with a woman of such a description. If she was that conspicuous, someone in the Order or at the Sanctuary had to have at least heard of her. If not, then Isabel just had something to entertain her for a while.
The bodiless young man sounded like he was trying a bit to hard to convince her not to seek the woman out. It might have been suspicious had she not been preoccupied with her impulses to defy whatever orders she got from no one in particular as well as the possibility of getting the chance to see the buzzing gnat in person, preferable so she could also see his organs.
"Someone that's got a pest like you buzzing around their ear and failing to deflect bullets for them can probably handle someone a little more solid. Bodies come in handy in those situations. And I'm not going to promise anything. I don't make promises."
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
