The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee smiled when Tarin admitted he was wrong. She didn’t launch into a tirade confirming that what he’d said was ridiculous. She didn’t throw her glass of water into his face, she didn’t even say anything. Just smiled. Yup. Tarin thought. Worth the wait.
Lee seemed to be into the idea of going to the movie and when she suggested a chick flick, Tarin’s head jerked up from the plate of food that he’d been thoroughly studying a few moments before. Tarin kept his mouth shut, didn’t say a word, he’d already said enough on this first date. Telling his potential girlfriend that he was one of the rare men who enjoyed chick flicks would be too much. There was a chance she’d think he was making it up just to get on her good side. No, Tarin decided, much better to simply seem like the typical man. He shrugged his shoulders, “We could probably go with the second one. Since, you know, you said that it wasn’t going to be out much longer. Is it one of those ones that’s going to be better in the theater?”
This was much better conversation for a first date, much better than the conversation had been so far. There was no mention of walking way, no mention of heading off painful separations before they even happened. The only decision being made was if they were going to see a chick flick, or something that was apparently slightly less of a chick flick. Tarin grinned.
“Either one works for me though, shall we finish up here and head that direction to figure out times?”

Tarin was up for going to see Stardust. That worked for Lee. She really did want to go see that other movie, but she could always try to go see it sometime later that week.
And then Tarin asked if this was one of those movies that would be better in the theatres. Lee simply shrugged as she looked across the table. "It's hard to tell," she replied. "I've been disappointed by movies before, but I think it might be."
Then Tarin asked if they should finish up there at the restaurant so they could head over to the theatre to check out the showtimes. Lee gave him a smile and a nod. "Sounds good to me," she said. Lee then went ahead at working on finishing up her plate.

A while later, they were making their way out of the restaurant and back out onto the street. Tarin had paid for the meal, again, something that Lee wasn't overly happy about, she didn't really like Tarin paying for everything, but Lee had told him the previous night that it was him taking her out, so she couldn't argue too much about it.
The theatre wasn't too far away, so Lee started walking. Then she turned to look at Tarin. "What happens if we get there and the movie won't be starting for a long time?" She asked.

The walking and talking was nice, very nice. Tarin had missed the look on Lee’s face when he paid, but despite what had happened the first time they met, he was going to prove that his mamma had raised him right. The first step in that direction was treating a lady, especially on the first date. No matter how independent a woman Lee was. This and the holding of doors were definitely steps in the right direction. Physical restraint worked wonders as well for proving his new leaf of chivalry, at least as far as Lee was concerned.
They were going to see the movie that was slightly less chick-flicky and Tarin almost wanted to point out that he was willing to see the other one. In fact, if he was guessing right, it was a movie that he’d wanted to see. Men simply didn’t just go see girl movies though, and definitely not alone. It was yet another thing that was going to be good about the relationship situation. The only problem was, in order to cash it in, Tarin would have to admit the fact that he actually liked the movies.
As they walked, Lee asked a question that actually made Tarin laugh. “Well, in my experience, you never have to wait all that long for movies in this city. Most of the theaters are big enough that they’ve got multiple showings of the popular movies.” He said, but then realized he hadn’t really answered the question that Lee had asked.
“They usually open the theaters up about a half an hour or so before the show, so we can just sit in there and talk.” He said, then reached out to grab Lee’s hand as he chuckled, “Or we could sit in the back of the theater and make out like teenagers.” he looked at her and grinned, "I vote for option number two, but your vote counts more."
"That's true," Lee said with a nod as she walked along the sidewalk with Tarin toward the theatre she'd seen the previous night. Even when she'd been growing up years earlier in Barrie, when a big movie came out, there were almost always multiple showings. They'd have two, and on some occasions even three or four screens for one movie. "This has been out for a while, though, so I'm not sure how often they're showing it."
Oh well, they had to at least have one showing without them having to wait hours for it, right? Lee could only hope.
And then she heard Tarin's second suggestion for what they could do while they waited for the movie to start. Lee's eyes dropped, looking at the sidewalk in front of her feet. "That probably wouldn't be the best idea," she said, her voice soft. "I know we were together a lot yesterday, but making out and then watching a movie together...You do want to be awake to be able to walk out of the theatre after the movie, right?" Lee asked, turning her head slightly to look up at Tarin just as she finished her question.

Tarin shrugged his shoulders when Lee pointed out that the movie had been out for a while and therefore could be difficult to find a showing of. “Well, if we have to wait, we have to wait. I didn’t plan anything else for the evening.” It was true, if they had to wait to see the movie, then they’d simply have to wait, unless… “Besides, if they’re not showing one of the movies you wanted to see, then we can always go and see the other.” Tarin smiled as he said it, there was still a chance he’d get to see the chick flick without admitting to Lee that he wanted to see it.
Lee stopped looking at him when Tarin suggested that they make out in the back of the theater like a couple of teenagers and he closed the distance between them, nudging Lee with his shoulder as they walked. “I was halfway kidding.” He said, frowning slightly at her downcast gaze and continuing to walk closely beside her. Lee said he was going to feel bad, and he had slept later than he usually would have, still though.
“And at some point you’re going to have to trust me too.” He said, giving Lee’s hand a squeeze, “I’m a grown up and even though you’re just worrying about me, I promise I’ll let you know if it gets to be too much. “
The conversation had gotten intense again, and swung to Lee’s abilities. That was something Tarin didn’t really want to talk about, “Besides, how do you know that you wouldn’t be the one to walk out weak in the knees?” he added with a slight smirk.
Tarin did have a bit of a point. If the wait for Stardust was going to be too long, they could always just catch the other movie that she had wanted to see, too. Sure, Lee figured that it wouldn't interest Tarin as much, but since he was at least somewhat open to the idea...
They'd just have to wait and see when they got to the theatre, see what the times for the movies were going to be.
But after her reply to his comment about making out while waiting for the movie to start, Lee felt Tarin nudge her shoulder with his, and she raised her eyes to look at him slightly.
And then she felt a squeeze on her hand as Tarin started speaking, telling her that at some point she was going to have to start trusting him to tell her he'd had enough and to not worry about her powers. Looking down again, Lee saw that the squeeze had come from Tarin's hand, which was holding hers as they walked. Lee blinked; she hadn't even noticed that he had done that, that was the surprising thing.
Tarin wasn't done speaking, though. And as a blush crossed her cheeks at his words, Lee pulled her hand free from Tarin's and lifted it to scratch her reddening cheek, then to tuck her hair behind her ear. "I thought the whole point of going to see a movie," Lee said, her voice a little on the quiet side. "Was to actually watch the movie."

Lee didn’t push the point about what movie they were going to see. Apparently she was just happy that they were going to a movie, no matter what it was. They were walking and holding hands…right up until the point where he squeezed her hand. Tarin frowned as Lee’s hand left his, and mused over how cold that hand felt now. He didn’t force the point, though, and stuffed his hand in his pocket as they walked.
What was interesting though, was the way that Lee acted after she pulled her hand from his. Those were flirty gestures, coy gestures, things that girls did when they liked what they were hearing but didn’t want to admit it. Also, it was chilly out, but not chilly enough that the pink on Lee’s cheeks was from cold. Tarin grinned a satisfied grin, he’d done well. He’d definitely done well.
Lee spoke, then and Tarin had to laugh out loud. Not a chuckle, but an outright laugh. The things that came out of Lee’s mouth were so golden sometimes, that he couldn’t help himself. It was strange, the way Lee reacted to some things, but then again, she’d told him that relationships were few and far in between for her. Suddenly, Tarin felt bad for laughing and hoped that Lee thought her comment had simply been funny.
“That’s why movies come out on video Lee. So that you can rent them and wonder exactly why you thought it was so great in the theater. You puzzle over it and puzzle over it, then realize that it wasn’t the movie at all that was so great. It was the company and the activity during the movie.”
"Oh," Lee said slowly, glancing over at Tarin out of the corner of her eye. "So you end up paying to see a not so great movie twice because you're too preoccupied to actually watch it the first time?"
Well, that was certainly one way to put it. And, while Lee did like the idea of what Tarin was talking about, she wasn't overly interested in doing it; it was bound to be fun while they were there, but Lee couldn't help but remember how years earlier, just her leaning against Ryan while they watched a movie had him almost passed out by the time it was over.
But by this time, they had reached the theatre. It was an older theatre, though it had definitely been updated over the years. There was still a lot of that 'old feel' left to make Lee like the place already. Slowing to a stop so she could check out the movie times, Lee frowned slightly. It looked like Stardust had been playing for about 20 minutes already.
"Well," Lee said, turning to look at Tarin after spending a few more moments looking at the times. "The other movie I'd like to see starts in about 15 minutes. Would that work? Cause otherwise it looks like we'll be waiting quite a while for something else."
