The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. And it was time for bed. I was seven years old, and still being sent to bed. Oh well, independence will come with time. Although I can’t still do things like horse riding or archery, at least when I go to bed, Grandfather tells me stories. Tonight he’d be starting a new one; and he said it’d be the best yet. He always told me stories about great samurai of the past, but this one was actually one of my ancestors! Once I was tucked under my blanket, he came in, and sat down. “Tonight, I am going to begin the story of Zhang Fei, and his last great battle against Lu Xun. It was the climax of the great Wan-Shu war, which had lasted over fifty years. There had been skirmishes, with the two generals only present at a few. They had yet to pitch the full might of their armies against each other, until the battle in the Shun Valley.”
“The Shun Valley? That’s where we are!”
“That’s right. This war was to determine who would rule of the whole area, and most of the land beyond.”
He could see the mass of troops over the other side of the valley. There were right on the horizon, but there were so many that they changed his beautiful green countryside into a seething, black mass. Though called a valley, it was really quite flat, with a non-to-impressive river meandering down its centre. It was a few metres wide, and only reached most men’s waists. But still, men wading through would be sitting ducks.
Fei turned to his gathered army. He had fewer men, but not by a lot. Also, he had a plan hidden up his sleeve, just in case. But this was it; the climax. This would be the deciding battle, the one that would end the war. The war had gone on for so long, that Zhang Fei had only been a lowly footman when it began. Now he was general of the entire army, and this would be his first time leading it as a whole. But his men had faith in him, and in themselves. Moral couldn’t be higher. It was only a matter of time until the valley was his, and the enemy crushed. He waved his sword over the gathered masses, “Here me! This day, we shall determine who is victorious! This day, we shall decide who rules all of the Shun territory! This day, we triumph!”
The response from the men was over powering. Ten thousand voices, rising as one. “Zhang Fei! Zhang Fei! Zhang Fei!” Fei turned back to face the enemy, as the sun rose behindthem. That would give the enemy the advantage, until the afternoon. Until then, they would just have to hold out.
Across the other side of the valley, Lu Xun smirked. He turned to his second in command; Taishi Chi. Chi was the most feared officer in the whole army, as he had no mercy. He was known to never leave an enemy breathing, and he would resort to anything to achieve what he wanted. As he rose through the ranks, many officers fell to his treacherous ways. Xun’s advisors had told him not to take on such a man as his second in command, as it would only be a matter of time until his treachery would give him cause to assassinate Xun, and take his place. Xun dismissed them, as he was far more cunning than Chi.
“Chi, you hear them? They seem to need to vent themselves to the heavens. As though it will make any difference. Send out the signal, we march now.” At a nod from Chi, horns were blown across the Shu ranks. As one, they advanced into the valley.
Zhang Fei watched the tide of men advancing. They crept forward, like a cloud of ants, pushing their way across. “Advance!” Around him, his men marched forward, with no idea of the hell that awaited them.
"Well? What did await them?"
"Unfortunately, the sun has long set. It is time you got some sleep. I shall continue the story tommorrow night. Good night, Takumi."
"But Grandfather, what happened to them?"
"Patience, Takumi. All shall be revealed tommorrow night."
"Ok then. Good night, Granfather."
"Good night." And then he was gone, and I was asleep.

Bedtime again! I couldn’t wait, because now Grandfather would continue the story. I was quickly abed, and waited for Grandfather to come in. And come in he did.
“Well, Takumi, I suppose you’ll be wanting to know what happened to Zhang Fei. Well, I’ll tell you.”
As Zhang Fei’s men advanced, he strode on his warhorse a few ranks back. He was confident that his men could win, as they advanced toward the enemy. The enemy seemed rather slow, so Zhang Fei decided to rattle them a little. They would likely expect that even the greatest archer couldn’t reach them from there. Lu Xun hadn’t met Zhang Fei’s samurai longbow men. “Bows! Forward!” A group of five hundred men moved swiftly to the front, and raised their bows. They were a good few paces ahead of the front rank, and so had time to stop and aim. They aimed their bows up, and pulled back on the strings.
“General, it seems they have ordered their bowmen to launch the first volley.” Lu Xun looked incredulously at the officer who had spoken. “They expect to hit us from there? Pah! They have a better chance hitting a fly from fifty paces.”
“FIRE!” Five hundred arrows launched forward, like an angry cloud, and headed for the enemy. The longbow men quickly resumed positions within the ranks again, as screams echoed across the landscape. Almost all the arrows had hit their mark, causing confusion and fear throughout the ranks. Zheng Fei smirked; he could taste victory already. Then it all went horribly wrong.
From their left, a hundred samurai burst out of cover and dashed for the flank. From the right, a hundred longbow men also leapt out of cover. Zheng cursed; his spies had said that Lu Xun would have his entire army with him on the other side of the valley. The ranks were forced to stop, and turn to face this new threat. They didn’t have long to react on either side, as on the left the samurai had already hit their flanks. They were all wielding katanas, and wreaking havoc. Then Zheng Fei was amongst them.
He burst through the ranks, his war horse leaping clear over his men, and landing on top of one of the samurai. He swung his long sword, so finely fashioned that it would ignore most armour, and cleaved another. He was then off of his horse, and surrounded. His men struggled to reach him, but he didn’t need their help. Lu Xun hadn’t been willing to sacrifice his best samurai on such a suicide mission, so these were no match for the General of the Wan Clan.
He was the centre of peace, holding a stance amongst the enemy. The samurai seemed less inclined to attack such a formidable opponent, then one of them lunged forward. Zheng Fei swiftly swung his weapon up, removing the man’s arm. He then spun on, and whirled into the opponents. He spun, ducked, lunged, sliced, and hacked. He was the whirlwind of death, slaying left right and centre. He was one with the blade.
On their right flank, the bowmen were causing great confusion of the foot soldiers. Most of Zhang Fei’s bowmen were toward the centre of the columns, so it was up to the horsemen on the flanks to deal with them. They charged towards the bowmen, who bravely stood their ground. Many of the horsemen were felled by the many shafts that rocketed toward them, so that fifty of the two hundred horsemen were felled before they reached the enemy. But when they did reach them, there was no stopping the slaughter. The horsemen were merciless, and were able to dispatch the hopeless bowmen without any further casualties.
”But what about Zheng Fei? Did he defeat the samurai?”
“Unfortunately, you are going to have to wait. Time for sleep. You can hear what happens next tomorrow night. Goodnight, Takumi.”

”So, I suppose you’ll want to know what happened to Zhang Fei? If I remember correctly, he was surrounded by enemy samurai, and trying to fight his way out. Correct?”
“That’s right Grandfather!”
Whirlwind of death. One with the blade. Zhang Fei slaughtered the samurai, killing well over half of them. The last one was taking on five of his foot soldiers at once, and winning. Zhang Fei launched himself at the samurai, who only turned just in time to block the blade. Zhang Fei kicked him in the chest, knocking him down, and proceeded to run him through before he could do anything else.
“How many did we lose?” Zhang Fei’s second in command, Xiahou Dun, answered. “They got fifty of us before you arrived, and another ten fell before they were all finished off.”
“Damn. What about the right flank?”
“They got twenty of our foot soldiers, and fifty of our horsemen.”
“Right.” Zhang Fei rode back to the centre of the army, and looked over to Lu Xun. His army was still advancing. They’d almost made the river. “Damn it.” He called out over his army, “Advance!” They continued moving forward, headed for the opposing army. By the time the enemy were in range to use their archers, Zhang Fei had his set up behind his army, and firing.
By the river, Lu Xun watched the black cloud flying over him. This was going to make getting his archers ready to fire much harder. He’d have to disrupt the enemy archers, but how? Well, the simplest answer is often the best. “Taishi Chi, order all our melee troops to advance. Leave the archers behind, with orders to advance as soon as we reach combat, and to fire at the enemy until then.”
“Yes, general.”
Zhang Fei watched as the enemy began their advance across the river. This was too good and opportunity to miss. “Archers! Aim for the men in the water!” The next volley landed shorter than the ones before, neatly annihilating those in the river. Zheng Fei smiled; the enemy will have to think before trying to cross the river again. “Xiahou Dun, advance the men. Telling the archers to keep up fire, but to keep moving as well.”
“Yes General.” He moved off to relay the orders, and soon they were all moving again, and getting gradually closer to the river.
