The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The cold began to recede, slowly at first, but then more and more. Jaya's breathing came in short, shallow breaths. She reached up slowly and felt her hair, the icy layer was melting away and her hair was returning to it's normal shade of green. She looked over at Geist. "I don't know what just happened exactly," she said shakily, "but it was pretty darn cool for a bit. Until it got real cold." She looked back at the lock of hair she could see. "Do you realize what you did? That was totally awesome!" Jaya was getting her energy back and it fueled her excitement at her little discovery.
Geist was a bit confuzzled at her sudden outburst of excitement. He was at a loss for words as he stared at her, then at his hands, then back to her. Turning his hands into fists he stood up and walked a bit away from the couch, his back to her and his head hanging low. "I dont know what to say... i guess to say the least im a bit embarassed... im sorry if i in anyway hurt you.. i didnt mean for that to happen, damn i can only think that if you werent.... if you werent 'different'.. you might've..." As he spoke the the suppression of his cold front was almost paralleled to the tight clucthing of his fist. The cold mysts dissapated from his shoulders as a energy-filled Jaya still marveled at what had happened.
"Then we're alike that way," Jaya said, more serious now. "We both have issues with control." Geist turned around and looked at her. "When it comes out, I don't know how it's going to come out: heat, cold, sound, wind, explosions, I haven't found a way to control it yet. I try, and I might figure it out soon, but I haven't figured it out yet."
"But you dont understand!..." turning around once more in an atempt to calm himself after his frustrated outburst. "Ive had years, hell Ive had a young mans lifetime to figure this out.. *sigh* I can only keep my emotions from sending everything around me into a new ice age for so long..." Turning to her he continued on in a less flustered tone "the only way to keep it in check.. is to keep myself cold, if not any colder than my own touch.. To be numb.." Looking deep into her eyes "there's no other way, or else i sacrifice the lives of those around me.. and im not willing to make that sacrifice.. the last thing i would want is for.." pausing slightly "a loved one to pass on like a breeze in the night.. so i do instead.." smirking a bit "I guess thats why ive always found a sense of release in more.. hostil job enviroments, as well as the occasional club scene.. I guess good muzick and an occasional butt whupping do the trick here and there... But it'll always come back to haunt me... *silence* Jeez, look at me. I must sound like a complete nutcase. I dont even know why Im telling you all this." Sitting down on a small nearby wooden crate with his face nestled into his hands "Maybe this was all a bad idea, why did i even bring you here? Lieber gott, why am i even caring.." Looking up at her "why is it that when i look at you i.. i see.." turning his head to the side he stoped in mid-sentence to gather his thoughts and further supress his powers. "Im sorry.. thats all i can say.." in light of his previous ramblings.
Jaya listened with a slight look of concern on her face. She waited to hear him through, she didn't understand what he was talking about altogether, but he didn't seem to want to go further. When he trailed off at the end her curiosity got the better of her once again. "You see what?" she asked gently, almost hesitantly, wanting to know the answer.
Geist took a deep breath, a cold myst eminating from his mouth as he exhaled. "Not sure.. Myself... someone i once knew, someone i cared for, family, really.. i dont know.. I guess for some reason i just want to help you.." *chuckle* "If you can, tell me.. do you understand what im saying?.. cuz to tell ya the truth.. i feel like im a loss right now." leaning back with his arms folded
"Maybe, maybe you were meant to help me," Jaya said slowly. "I mean, what you did, perhaps, I dunno." She paused, trying to figure out how to say what was going through her head. "I can release energy in heat, it's happenned before. If I, if you, well.... I could learn to control my powers by having to deal with yours. If I had to use them to keep warm, I'd learn to keep them conducting heat. That way, you don't freeze me, and I don't blow up stuff by accident - something that seems to happen a lot these days." He wasn't facing her, he continued to stare off. Jaya concentrated, leaned over, and reached out a single finger to touch his shoulder. She could feel the cold entering her. She squeazed her eyes shut, concentrating as hard as she could. She was getting colder, the numbness crawling up her arms like a glove. Warmth, warmth, warmth, she thought. She felt it start in her core, a small tentacle of warmth sweeping up, pressing back against the cold, warming herself, going through her arm, leaving her through her finger tip, the edges of it seeping ever-so-slightly into him.
Geist felt displaced, un-organized, for once he felt the situtation wasnt in his ball park. He listened and contemplated her words deeply, feeling her struggle was not so differently when it came down to it. Geist, still staring into space, was slowly awoken from his thoughts by the small sensation of warmth pressed against his shoulder. First it was small and dissapated like all heat, but soon it grew, swelled and poured onto his shoulder and from there to the ever warming core of his body. What is this... this warmth he thought as he slowly turned his attetion to Jaya, her hand above his shoulder, finger pressed upon it gently... He was amazed, utterly AMAZED, which was no small feat. As he looked upon her she seemed to glow, to shine as if an angel had appeared before him. "what are you doing?.." he said but soon cutting himself off knew what exactly was happening. He reached for her hand, slowly locking his fingers with hers as he felt her aura pass to him, her warmth becoming his. The cold that was once there did not disappear, however, but instead lingered.. intertwining and accenting the warmth, bringing both their powers to a plane of mild serenity. Their hands still grasped together becoming a symbol of equilibrium. Geist smirked and spoke what truly he felt was on his mind "The yin.. to my yang. Maybe we were meant to bring balance to both of our lives" still marveling at the astonishing site before him.
They were intertwined, she used his coolness to contain the warmth within her, she used her warmth to contain the collness within him. Her heart was racing in a way it had never raced before, her breath was coming from new lungs, strong and fierce. The concentration was difficult, but for the first time in her life she was able to do it, she didn't feel as though everything was slipping from her grasp as she usually did when releasing her energy. She leaned closer to Geist, taking his other hand in her own. "This was never possible before, how do I know this is real? How do I know that I'm not delerious in some alleyway somewhere?"
His breath became like Jaya's and with every exhale he felt his lungs join in rhythem with hers, his heart beating to her drum. Both their hands were locked together, as she leaned forward from the couch and he leaned from his makeshift chair, their powers embraced one another joining them as one. Both of their powers complimented one another, and he sensed that maybe in time it will help them both completely control their gifts.
Ever since his powers had manifested he had never dreamed that this could ever come true. He had always forbade any physical contact, but now.. now it was different. For the first time in so long he was warm, and felt as if he need'nt let go.. need'nt give up this warm attachment that he had so secretly longed for in his heart. "I could always pinch you, but then how would i know if i wasnt dreaming either.." a small chuckle escaped his mouth as his breath continued to trail along with hers.
Slowly, in a profuse manner, he continued to lean forward, their wrists and arms now lined together. He gently leaned his forehead upon hers closing his eyes to gain more focus over his powers, as to not overload hers, and spoke to her in a charming voice, "But maybe it doesnt matter.. Even if this was a dream.. I would rather choose this amidst the reality that this was never real at all.. so with that, I make this real."
He was so close to her, she could feel his breath on her face. She would've done anything to make the moment last as long as possible. For the first time in what seemed like forever she felt close to someone, she felt like things were going to be alright, she felt like she was free. For once in her life she was controlling her powers, they weren't controlling her. She leaned closer, the pleasure of the moment hightened as she pressed closer against him.
What was the right thing to do he thought as he felt compelled to move on, as the situtation seemed to grow deeper. Am right to take advantage of this moment he pondered as she moved in closer to him. WWJD?.. hell, what do i want outta this, some kind of.. relationship?.. no, maybe i just want this moment to last forever. Standing up from his plot, bringing her with him as she stood from the couch on her knees, he moved his hands from hers down to her hips. Her arms resting down her sides as he tilted his head and laid a peck on her lips with his, holding her closer as he continued to embrace her.
Jaya's heart was pumping faster as Geist stood up, bringing her with him. She felt his hands move to her hips, felt his lips brush her own. It was more than she could take. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed back. She felt his hands tighten and she moved in closer, allowing his movements to control her own.
He soon felt himself being pulled in even deeper into the maelstrom of passion that was consuming their little safe house. pulling away for a sec he managed to whisper into her ear "Oh and by the way, names Dominik, you can call me Nik from now on, k?" giving her a quick grin before moving on. He continued on in a fleet of bottled up emotions, quickly reaching down from her hips he grabed gently and pulled her up against him, her body clinging to him, her legs wrapped around his waist. As their lips continued to enjoy eachothers company, and after he managed to slip in a bit of tongue he leaned slightly back, still holding her against him, and mustered out something he wanted to get off his chest "Are you sure yourok with this? cuz if not we can end this right now.." he suggested reluctantly.
She stopped short and thought a moment. She pulled herself back, ducking out of his grasp, the connection was lost, it almost hurt to sever it. "You're right," she said to the shocked Nik. "Now isn't a good time Nik, the last thing I need right now is to get pregnant, things are complicated enough as it is." She sat back down on the couch rather abruptly.
